Background
Aderyn grew up in the city-state of New Paducah, or as it is more commonly known as MercTown. Aderyn grew up watching all sort of creatures and people walking around with their armor and weapons as if it was the most natural thing to do, and in some strange way comforting, his dad was like everyone else in MercTown a freelancer that worked mostly protecting trade routes for the city. Once Aderyn was old enough he started working for the government’s military. The training was grueling and many people he befriended didn’t make it to the end of the training, and the few that did pass where then sent to train at something else. Once done he was a member of the NPF. Aderyn enjoyed the job, sometimes hunting criminals, but mostly boring things as paperwork took as much of his day as patrolling and dealing with everyday problems, from drunken brawls to arresting criminals for one of several different reasons. In the end Aderyn was hoping for some more traveling and a better paycheck. Aderyn did not renew his contract with the city and instead became a mercenary.

Aderyn went to the Headhunter Academy, a renown mercenary school that if you graduated from it guaranteed work in any company you could find. Not being a greenhorn helped, but Aderyn struggled a bit with accepting that a mercenary sometimes does bend or breaks the law to accomplish a job. The training was a comprehensive and thorough course that made him into a soldier. Aderyn chose to join a mercenary agency called Continental Mercenary Contract Services, from which many mercenary companies would draw temporary mercenaries as they needed and sometimes permanent job if they proved to be good.

Aderyn first job was with a group of other freelancers and where sent to work with Continental States for their upcoming war, which was going to be highly profitable or so they told him. The moment they arrived they already had standing orders where they were escorted together with other mercs called the Dirty Thirty to the Wisconsin border. Aderyn did some reconnaissance and spotted of column of D-bee moving to Tolkeen over the Winsconsin border. Scanners registered several wanted criminals which made everyone smile as it was easy bonus cash to collect from CS. The ambush set up was effective, it was a massacre of D-Bee, but the greed of many mercs caused heavy casualties among the Dirty Thirty and Aderyn learned a valuable lesson that day as he got helped by a merc that came with him from MercTown. Loyalty has no price and friends can save you when you are in a pinch.

The surviving D-Bee’s fled and the Dirty Thirty were thirsty for revenge and money, as orders came to hunt them all down. Aderyn was not comfortable. Not because they were hunting fleeing soldiers, but it was just a blind chase through the Winsconsin border in a race to get them before they reach Tolkeen or something worse. After a few days of pursuit the Dirty Thirty finally reached the Tolkeen in a ruined small town. The Dirty Thirty went in full force, but the Tolkeen had sent some Brodkil raiders and the ensuing fight was bloody and quick, as Brodkil would appear out of nowhere and begin shooting, and the D-Bee took cover in ruined buildings. Aderyn and the few mercs that agreed to withdraw slowly from the combat, he wasn’t about to die there because some commander couldn’t make a plan and let his temper take the better of him and get his men killed. Aderyn and the other watched from the distance as the Dirty Thirty came to an end that day, but not without selling their lives at a very heavy price. All that was left was collect their tags the next day and any bounties if any of them had or any D-Bee they could find.

Aderyn continued to serve the Coalition State forces for the reminder of the war and the Siege of Tolkeen. This time Aderyn was driving a transport vehicle that was moving mercenaries to the front while the Coalition States began their artillery and airstrikes against Tolkeen. The battle was fierce, with dragons and their riders fighting in their skies, d-bee´s, brodkils, and gargoyles fought in the battlements with some magic casters here and there delivering death on a whim. The eventual juggernauts unleashed by the Coalition and the sheer waves of soldiers eventually crushed the defenses of Tolkeen. At this point Aderyn wasn’t sure what was happening with all the chaos and the very close magical attacks that landed nearby charring vehicles, men, and metal alike. In the aftermath, Aderyn could not join the victory chants of the Coalition, he never understood their hatred and disdain for non-humans, he had grown around them and they were morally as ambiguous as any man or woman he knew. He was happy to return to MercTown and get paid more than he thought. After all, dead mercs do not collect bounties and for his first job it was a great pay day. Aderyn was about to take a week or so break, but a new job came in from MARS Company to safely escort travelers to the designated location.

Aderyn figured he could take a vacation there, but he wasn’t ready to the surprise he was going to get when he arrived. Escorting Tolkeen survivors. This was a cruel laugh by the Gods, he just hoped to get alive now. The travel was relatively safe, and at least most people kept to himself, and the few questions that came his way he would smile and give some vague answers or small talk about nothing. He had travelled through some of the places he was seeing, but this was closer to Chi-Town than he ever been, but he really never had travelled this far. A nice lush quiet place, with some hills and mountains. They eventually arrived to some place called Castle Refuge. All sorts of people where allowed in, humans and non-humans, it reminded him of home, just not as loud and not everyone was armed and armored. Once his escort was finished he called in to the CMCS to see what is going on, it looked like there was no return date, for which he received his congratulations as he was now under a long term contract with the MARS Company. Aderyn figured he needed a break and some stability anyway, and this place couldn’t be as bad as the Coalition or as rugged and tough as MercTown.

Aderyn had one question to answer that would nag at him… what´s the plan now?
