Setting Rules (CS Specific)

Post by High Command »

Image A different kind of Savage Rifts

Game Style: Coalition Army Commandos (Think US Marine Recon or US Army Rangers)
Power Level: Big Damn Heroes (+2 HJ rolls, +1 Advance, Wealth is ignored escept as something you save for after retirement or send back to your family).
Adventure Cards: Yes
EP Restrictions: Gun Bunny, Arcane Accessories, Have I Got a Backstory for You (Talk to the GM about this, no need for EP)
Character Restrictions: CS Only. Vanguard are not appropriate. MARS, Most Psychic IF, Mutant Animals, Psi-Stalkers, and Humans only.
Additional Game Setting Rules: Requisition and Fire Support.
Benny Philosophy:
  • Every New Mission the Bennies reset.
  • Everyone starts with Conviction.
  • Player Nominated Conviction Refresh: Once per Mission, each player may nominate another player to gain conviction if they have done something worthy of it in a post. Link the noteworthy post and post it in OOC. The nominated player also gets a Benny.
  • Player Nominated Benny Refresh: Once per Mission, each player may nominate another player to gain an additional benny. Link the noteworthy post and post it in OOC.
  • The GM may note a post as earning a Benny for RP, Hindrance play or other reason. It is up to the player to keep track of Bennies.
Character Creation: Characters will use the creation guidelines listed here: https://savagerifts.com/sr/viewtopic.ph ... 251#p63251

Additional or Clarified Hindrances

Post by High Command »

Additional or Clarified Hindrances
Rookie [Minor]: A newly minted recruit who just smells like an FNG. Suffer -2 Charisma with seasoned NCOs and Requisition rolls. Must spend one of the first three advances to buy this off, or replace it with another minor hindrance in the same time period.

Loyal [Minor]: Encouraged by the C.S. in training, your character would give her life for her friends. This character can never leave another soldier behind if there’s any chance at all she could help.

Vow: Coalition Fanatical Patriot [Major]: You don't ask how high or think twice about jumping off the ledge if so ordered. There must be a good reason and you do not need to know it. Heck if ordered to shoot a compatriot you are most likely on board even if it is your brother. You have made a vow to protect and serve, that is all you ever need to know.
  • Special thanks to Jon N for the assist with this hindrance.
Vow: Serve the CS [Minor]: Everyone who is a part of the formal CS Military and Security forces takes an oath to serve and protect the Coalition against all comers. You feel strongly about this, but it is not as dear as breathing to you.

Quirk: Distrust/Dislike D-Bees [Minor]: A common hindrance among the CS, especially front line troops who have had kids using magic decimate them, or have watched the kids and old folks of certain D-bees rip a man apart. It changes how you see the world.

Registered Psychic [Minor]: Being a registered psychic in the CS is a big deal and makes you a second class citizen. While common among Psychic Soldiers, thousands of minor psychics without anything more than a touch of psychic power are also registered. If you do not have Arcane Background: Psionics, then one of your edges should have a psychic trapping to it. Empathic, Fast Healer, Danger Sense, and Alertness are all excellent candidates.

Cocky [Minor]: You’ve been trained by the best to be the best - and you know it. This hero must boast about their superior abilities at the start of combat or lose one Benny.

Advancement and Pay

Post by High Command »

This game will advance at a much faster rate than other games. Advancement will be based on milestones, not experience. As such don't worry if your character is not where you want it yet. Player participation and involvement determines time to advance.

Further, Advancement will include a level advancement and at least one roll on either Hero's Journey or Fortune and Glory

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Payrate
Private: 1700 per month
PFC: 1750 per month
Corporal: 1800 credits per month

Modifiers to Payrate
Hazard Pay (Old Chicago): +15%
Hazard Pay (Combat Engineer or Medic): +15%
Hazard Pay (Pilots): +20%

Re: House Rules (CS Specific)

Posting Requirements.

The first post (at least) after a GM post should include a Notice roll.

Code: Select all

[ooc=Notice 00]Skill: [dice]1d4[/dice]
Wild: [dice]1d6[/dice][/ooc]
Replace 00 with whatever you actually manage to roll. Do this for all skill rolls, changing the label name for the skill involved. Alternately you can use this format:

Code: Select all

[ooc=Rolls]Notice: [dice]1d4[/dice]
Wild: [dice]1d6[/dice]
Total: 00[/ooc]
Both work. The second could have all your rolls for a post in it instead.
