Edges
  • Edge: Medic (training) A character with this Edge can get wounded soldiers up and fighting again in seconds. If the medic can get to a wounded non-Wild Card by the end of the round in which he was wounded, he can make an immediate Healing roll at –2. If the roll is successful, the victim is merely Shaken instead of wounded.
  • Edge: Healer (hindrances) A hero with this Edge adds +2 to all Healing rolls (including natural healing rolls for his own wounds), whether natural or magical in nature. Up to five companions traveling with a Healer add the bonus to their natural healing rolls as well.
  • Edge: CS Fortress City Citizen. Whenever a Citizen spends a benny roll a d6. On a 6, the Citizen gets the Benny back.
  • Edge: Brawler. Frequent fights with his bare hands have given this thug a powerful punch. When he hits a foe with a successful bare-handed Fighting roll, he adds +2 to his damage.
  • Edge: Martial Artist. This character is highly trained in hand-to-hand fighting. He is never considered unarmed in combat and so is never subject to the Unarmed Defender rule (page 76). With a successful unarmed attack, he adds +d4 to his Strength roll (as if he were using a small weapon). Damage: d6+d4+2
  • Edge: Luck. The adventurer seems to be blessed by fate, karma, the gods, or whatever external forces he believes in (or believe in him!)
He draws one extra Benny at the beginning of each game session, allowing him to succeed at important tasks more often than most, and survive incredible dangers.
Cybernetics
  • Optics Package: One or both of the cyborg’s eyes are replaced, granting the following: +2 all sight-based Notice checks; thermal imaging and night vision (ignore illumination penalties); 50× magnification for distance; 20× macro lens for up-close detail; glare filters that give a +2 on checks to avoid blinding flashes and related light burst effects. Finally, the Optics Package provides the ability to record still or moving images and store them for later viewing or
display. Switching modes is a free action.

Alan was marching down the bombing run. It was bitter sweet. He finally made it through basic. He's not the most athletic of people. Basic training wasn't bad per say, it's just the physical requirements are not his forte. Alan was relieved that this stage was finally done. There is some concern that he may have forever made a mark in basic training, and not in the heroic way but in the "don't do this shit" way. While everyone is marching in their Class A uniforms dressed to impress their parents, wife, husband or kids, Alan was going through the motions. His father was upset that it took several more weeks then everyone else and his mother was upset that he even signed up. The only thing Alan had to look forward to, at this time, was just packing up to go to med school.

Sitting in his seat with the rest of his class, Alan sat in the front row. Compared to a year and a half ago, Alan was in his element. He was always more intellectually inclined. His parents still didn't show up. His father felt that medical school was a waste of time, his mother didn't want him in the military. In an effort to make both parents happy, as well as ensuring those who protect the people are protected themselves, Alan signed up to be a medic. He was one of the best. Even though his parents weren't there, he became determined to make them proud. There he is sitting at Thanksgiving dinner, on leave in his class A's, medals glistening in the fluorescent light of the dining room. While he's carving up the turkey, he's explaining the emergency field surgery to stabilize the Colonel, while SAMAS are flying overhead providing cover, the rest of his platoon laying down suppression fire and the UAR-1 Enforcer raining down the Emperor's might onto the Federation of Magic assaulting the base while the Emperor was visiting the base. The sound of clapping brought Alan back to reality, the sound of entering the next stage of his life, next stop 2nd Battalion, Company C, 3rd Platoon. Chicago Company.

The monitor turns on, the red dot in the upper right hand corner. Alan sees his reflection in the monitor on his bed, he is reminded just how brutal the last month has been for him. Swollen eyes, busted noses, and fat lips are slowly healing. It doesn't help that he aggravates the injuries each night to prove a point.

"Hey mom and dad. How are you? Before you even freak out mom, this happened at the gym. Yes, your son is going to the Gym to get better and stronger. I'm fine really. Trust me, i'm the Dr. Hows the business? I have seen some combat. It got a little hairy at times, but we have been close enough for reinforcements to be there quickly. The team is coming together. The last month a lot has happened. We each have really grown individually, yes I need to keep track of this. I'm the team medic. If one of them start to stray from norms, I have to be able to catch it and prevent a disaster." Alan takes a deep long breath. "If you don't want to message me back, that's fine. I know that neither of you are happy with this choice, but you didn't leave me much choice. Now i'm in the wilderness defending the very heart of humanity, and being a part time vet with our dog boy. He's a good boy. a bit timid, but he's good."

The door opens up and Solene sticks her head in. "Hey, you wanted to watch this movie, now get your ass out here.". Alan will look off screen. "Yea, i'm just finishing up."

"Well, that was my roommate. I gotta go. It's Dirty Hairy movie night. I love you both. Don't be mad at each other."
