Background

Logan Wright is the only son of Elizabeth Wright and the illegitimate youngest son of Thomas Howlett. After Elizabeth gave birth to Logan, Daniel found out that she had an affair on him and the child wasn't his. Daniel confronted Thomas and the two got into an argument and accidentally killed each other. Elizabeth was forced to get a job as a miner in Iron Heart. She worked to get Logan an apprenticeship helping out in the mines. Once he got accepted as an apprentice, he used to excitedly talk about what he was learning, but as he talked about learning to use explosive ordinance, he noticed his mother was increasingly uncomfortable, so he learned not to talk so much about that while around her. During the summers he learned how to play baseball and became well known as one of the best pitchers in their area.

But a few months after turning 19, his mother started getting sick. A Cyber-Doc from Iron Heart Medical University said that her symptoms seemed consistent with cancer and while she could be cured, it would cost a lot of money, and that CS soldiers got discounts on medical services for designated family, so Logan decided to sign up for the Coalition Army to get her medical treatments so she can get cured of her cancer. He easily passed all of his exams (even if he did have to study a little bit with the tougher parts of the training), and in field exercises he showed he had the ability to operate even while wounded. The day of his final field exam, while waiting for the rest of his class to finish decided to wait over by the instructors. At 13:13 pm of April 4th, Pvt. Wright's instructor had gotten a call over the radio that there was a real bomb threat at the ammo depot two kilometers west of them. The exams were cancelled and the trainees were told to report back to their barracks, but in the confusion of everything, Logan snuck onto the transport the instructors were using to get to the bomb threat. He initially only wanted to observe experienced soldiers doing it, but upon arriving on the scene, there was a battle raging that was preventing the bomb techs to getting to the bombs individually, so they split up. When they realized Logan managed to sneak along for the ride, they decided to utilize their help now and reprimand him later for disobeying orders.

Each of the instructors and Logan went to a different bomb, with Logan managing to get to his without getting hit. He quickly was able to disarm his bomb, then looked up to see that two of the other instructors never even made it to their bombs while a third made it but pinned down away from the bomb. Logan acts quickly sprinting off to the next closest bomb and taking a shot in the shoulder for his efforts. He blocks out the pain and is able to disarm the second bomb, so when the shooting dies down a little as both sides seem to have to change clips it would seem, Logan makes another dash for the next one, where the instructor had been pinned down, only now she had a clean hole in her helmet where her forehead would have been. Logan drops down and gets next to the bomb so he can be as small of a target while he's disarming the bomb. Because the position wasn't ideal, it took a little longer but he was able to get it taken care of, but get's hit on his thigh, making the pain harder to ignore than before.

He gets up to run to the final bomb, but gets hit in his side, making him stagger, but he stays on his feet long enough to get to the final bomb. Tears are welling up in his eyes from the pain as he tries to disarm it, but when he went to clip the wire to deactivate bomb, his hands were shaking so much that he accidentally cut the wrong wire causing the bomb to blow up almost immediately. The next thing he knew, he was in a CS hospital with cybernetic eyes and everything sounded like it was being muffled. He had survived the explosion because the bomb was a shaped charge set to inflict maximum damage to whatever it was shaped on to, but he was still in the blast radius. The only reason he survived was because of his armor he was wearing.

The aftermath of the battle was confusing. Once he was recovered in early May, there was a rather lengthy inquest into his actions. He was found derelict of duty for not obeying a direct order and fined 5 half months of pay. He also lost five months of leave time. Both punishments were backdated to the date of the infraction. In addition he was told he would be passed over for his promotion following graduation. Once he was done having his ass chewed up one side and down the other, he was led across the hall to the commander's office where he was presented a citation for bravery and a purple and cybernetic heart ribbon. He was then allowed to graduate with the outgoing class that had been behind his. He had been weeks from graduation and had finished the coursework either during his recovery or during the inquest itself. Graduation was two days ago. Now he waits in a transportation hub for his first duty assignment: Fort Resilience in Old Chicago!
