Magic Items

Post by Corrigon »

Flaming Great Sword (Str+d12+4; +3 Fighting, AP 3, Mega Damage), requires str D12 to use 2 handed, -2 charisma

Greater Demon Armor (+8, M.D.C.), -4 charisma
Enchanted Demon Bracers (+3 Parry).-2 charisma

Between Langdon and Freya, they believe that they can alter the dimensions of the bracers using their magical and engineering knowhow. On the other hand, both of you feel somewhat uncomfortable when handling the items.
Both the bracers and the sword have been infused with bone as part of the handle
The bracers have a leathery feel to them
The pommel of the sword is the skull of a humanoid creature, minus the jawbone

The armour is a mixture of black metal with something that looks like red veins spreading across it. The mere touch of it makes anybody magically inclined feel nauseous and psychically inclined, you can feel something unpleasant, not living but something about how the armour was forged.

There may be other consequences of using the above items

The Legion will offer to take these items off your hands and prevent anybody else from using them.
In exchange, they will offer a single magic item in exchange - we can roll something up from the Fantasy companion
Or provide an upgrade to the town
Or 2 MODs worth of improvements to the ATV or Zone Ranger

Freya will prefer for the items to be traded, or even destroyed. It will take some convincing for her to make the changes.

Yeah, Savant's going to vote that the items be given to the Legion for destruction. I'd say either one Mod to each vehicle, or an item off the FC tables.

Kidemónas will offer to try and destroy them first (obviously not likely). But he will not want anything that feels demonic around and will be happy to see them go away.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Lang's eyes linger greedily on the bracers but he holds his tongue in part due to the uneasy demonic aura emanating from them but also because he doesn't want to make demands so soon after joining the TL.

"Well, I wouldn't mind an extra magic item or three, but I suppose town upgrades might be more useful at this juncture...such as a library," he says, remember Darius Young's request.
