The 12th Arcane Anomaly Team is now recruiting! The Council of Magic needs a different kind of help. While the SETs and COTs are off gallivanting aimlessly around the countryside playing hero, we have our share of trouble right here that they may not be prepared to deal with. Rift reconnaissance, ley line patrol, arcane artifact recovery and disposal, and Federation of Magic interdiction, including investigation and infiltration, are all within your purview. Most of the team should be versed in some area of magical or psionic ability, though they'll still need some heavy combat cover when things go sideways. You will report to "Snake Eyes" Setnaja for assignment at the beginning of the next quarter.

This will be my first run as a PbP GM, so go easy on me. I am flexible on available races, but prefer RAW IFs, including the Shifter, if you're so inclined. Sorry, no ARES at this time until I can get my feet under me. I'd like to keep the group right at 8, so no sidekicks other than what the Shifter might port in and bind.

EDIT: Alright, fine. I'll consider ARES concepts too.

Updated to show one opening in the 18th COT/New West game. The original recruiting pitch is here, with some guidelines for characters. I may be a little choosy - per the original recruitment post, heavy preference given to characters that emulate an OCC from the Palladium New West books (Lone Star/New West/Spirit West) or core.

7th SET is also looking for a replacement for Sgt.'s character, Fox, at the end of the quarter. Whereas most GMs do this thing where they carefully construct intricate, ongoing plots, I just grab the GM's guide, roll some dice and BAM!, there's your mission. So we're probably the very essence of Monster of the Week-style play (it's possible that, over time, actual plot will form organically). That said, the players are AMAZING.

I'm gonna have to learn that thing where we construct intricate, ongoing plots. I'm somewhere between that and straight rolling an adventure. Someday, maybe...
But yeah. The 7th is filled with solid writers.

Any idea what type of character you would like to play?
  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

@KahlessNestor does the trailblazers still have openings. Although I am interested in hearing more about the game before I take any slots from anyone else, in the event they are still available

POST SCRIPTING: I apologize I had made the mistake of thinking this game was under savage dimensions as oppose to savage rifts. I’m sorry for any problems this might have caused.

I didn’t realize it was rifts. As interesting as rift is I don’t really want to oversaturate my self with that kind of “genre”

If you are burnt out on Rifts

There is an opening in Nightbane if you like the idea of Urban Fantasy Horror.

Basically in this setting you play supernatural beings fighting the things that go bump in the dark.

The GM is pretty cool too, tall good looking man with a great sense of humor.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Check out the Recruitment Post for Guidelines of how the game is expected to go. It is a little slower than most games on the board because the players need to be proactive.

I’m gonna guess a character inspired by the concept of dnd bards with glen miller “twist” (and thus a magic trumpet or saxophone) isn’t gonna really fit thematically is it?

Also I explained night bane very poorly to @MazH347

By the way sorry about that maz. I thoroughly was hoping for Buffy the vampire slayer styled monster hunting.

Yeah, thematically the game is less comedic, and more horror. Although the idea is not complexly out it is has horror elements to it. For example the Sax could be a part of you and the source for how your Talents manifest.
But you would have to think of the horrific twist (or I could add one for you) when in your Nightbane form. Perhaps the Sax is welded to your left hand and made out of bone or something?

Hey @Cursor_Peter45,
I was looking at your accounts @Cursor_Peter45 and @Angelus_23 neither of them has EP for a 3rd character. Your third character is normally 10 EP. It can be loaned to you by other users, but as it looks like no EP activity I am guessing you are not familiar with the EP system.

Here is a link for you to familiarize yourself with the EP system. On of the things it helps do is make sure you are really into PBP by playing a game for a few months before jumping into to many games. Sometimes jumping into to many to fast would overwhelm you burning out your ability to enjoy even the first game you are in.

Explorer Points, what are they and how to get them
  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

The spot is definitely still open for both of you. Not sure if you followed any of the links above but we can get you a character whipped up in pretty easily.
The only PDF you will definitely need access to is the Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. If you have that the rest of the path should be pretty easy for you. If you have Savage Worlds Deluxe there is a free PDF for translating, but it is something like 54 pages.
