MARS Conversion character

Post by Ximena »

playing with my first character concept. using MARS to build a Infantry Soldier from Robotech: TSC. (Cyclone Pilot)

going to use the MARS framework with the Power Armor Soldier package. Looking at SFC and savaging your favorite rifts for building the cyclone.

Begin with Power Armor Jock Edge
Select one suit of Power Armor.
VR-038L Anti-Armor Cyclone
cycle stats
Size 1
Acc/TS 20/80
Toughness 15(8) (dirt bike, 7 + 8 armor, not sure how this works as it only counts for destroying the vehicle, doesn't provide protection for the rider)
Crew 1
Transformation (power armor)
Light Power Armor stats.
Size 1
+8 Armor M.D.C.
+3 Toughness,
Strength +1 D size (this cyclone adds +6 augmented strength in the original setting)
Pace 8
Mods
Weapon Mount (1)
Hover (30 ft up)
Flight (32 Pace, 100 ft up)
Transformation (cycle)
RL-6 60mm Light Repeating Rocket Cannon (Range: 100/200/400 DMG: 4d6 ROF: 1 AP: 11 SHOTS: 6)

Choose starting gear allotment
This will differ slightly as it will be the starting gear for the Infantry Soldier.
CVR-3 Body Armor
energy rifle
2 extra e-clips
2 smoke gernades
UEEF Survival Pack
survival knife
2d6x100 credits

Fortune and Glory rolls
1: [dice]0[/dice]
2: [dice]1[/dice]
3: [dice]2[/dice]

Hero's Journey rolls
1: [dice]3[/dice]
2: [dice]4[/dice]
3: [dice]5[/dice]

5 attribute points to spend
15 skills points to spend

20 experience for 4 advances.

Fortune and Glory rolls
1: 1d12: rolled 4, Agile and Dexterous
2: 1d12: rolled 11, Fortune Favors the Bold
3: 1d12: rolled 5, Smart and Learned

Hero's Journey rolls
1: 1d20: rolled 20, selecting from body armor table, I get to choose one of my own selection. so I pick 16-17 range. helmet of armor (CVR-3) has exceptional embedded targeting enhancements, granting your hero +2 on all ranged attacks.
2: 1d20: rolled 10,
3: 1d20: rolled 10, selecting from Range Weapons, ranged weapon is extra deadly. granting +1 to all damage rolls made with it.

Been working on a more detailed version of the cyclone and CVR-3. Getting it to balance out with all the different models.

Here is the write up on the cyclones I have been working on today.

Cyclones
Cyclones power armor are a composite of the CVR-3 body armor that interlinks with the transformable motorcycles known as MOSPEADA (Military Operation Soldier Protection Emergency Aviation Dive Armor). There are 4 models of the MOSPEADA. VR-038, VR-041, VR-052, and the VR-057.

Cyclone basic design notes
  • The model from Savaging Rifts Ideas for power armor says that power armor should have a minimum of 8 armor and maximum of 12 armor and +3 toughness.
  • To get the toughness and armor for overall power armor, values will come from both parts.
  • Combat armor will provide +1 toughness and +6 armor required
  • Power armor will provide the other +2 toughness and +4 armor required but will have less toughness to get to the armor required.
  • Transformable will reduce the 6 toughness of the bike mode to the +2 toughness for power armor mode. Armor remains the same value but become +bonus to the character..
  • VR-30 series will have +1 toughness and +4 armor.
  • VR-40 series will have +1 toughness and +6 armor.
  • VR-50 series will have +1 toughness and +8 armor.
  • Bike mode toughness will have a 6 toughness plus the armor for each series.
  • Further notes, based on some of the art designs in MOSPEADA complete works book, they show poses where the basic forearm plates are used to defend against ranged attacks. So I am assigning shield stats to them based on the Polymer Shield in SFC as medium size shields. CADS-1 will have stats assigned to them as Large Polymer Shield.
  • Bike mode will have the mod, exposed Crew. Vehicle does not provide armor bonus for crew crit hit.
Point Break Down

Basic motorcycle stats from custom vehicles in the SFC.
Size 2
ACC/TS 10/30
Toughness 9(2) (base 7 with 2 armor)
Mods 5
Crew 2
  • To get this in line with the model we need, we are trading 1 toughness for 2 armor. (removed and added more armor to the CVR-3)
  • In order to get the base speed inline, we increase speed by 2.

Mods: (7)5 base, + 2 from mods
+2 speed reduction (2, +2 mod) ACC/TS -2/-4
1 Targeting System(1, 1 mod)
2 Transformable (1, 2 mods)
  • Transformable allows the vehicle to switch from motorcycle mode to power armor mode. Points are traded out to balance the changes for the specific modes.
  • Bike mode has 3 mods.
  • Power Armor mode balances all changes to zero.
1 VR-038 (1 mod)
1 weapon mount (1, 1 mod)
2 VR-041 (2 mods, +1 mod)
+1 speed reduction (1, +1 mod) ACC/TS -1/-2
1 armor (1, 1 mod)
1 missile launcher (1, 1 mod)
1 Targeting Sight (1, 1 mod)
1 VR-052 series (3 mods, +2 mods)
+2 speed reduction (2, +2 mod) ACC/TS -2/-4
2 armor (2, 2 mod)
1 Targeting Sight (1, 1 mod)
2 VR-057 series (3 mods, +2 mods)
+3 speed reduction (3, +3 mod) ACC/TS -3/-6
3 armor (3, 3 mod)
1 Targeting Sight (1, 1 mod)
1 weapon mount (1, 1 mod) (rail gun)

Mode Specific Mods
2 Bike mode (3 mods, +1 mod)
+1 Exposed crew (1, +1 mods)
2 speed (2, 2 mods) ACC/TS +10/20
1 fixed weapons, (2, 1 mod) (forearm weapon mounts locked in fixed position)

0 Power Armor Mode (5 mods, +5 mods)
1 Exposed crew (-1, 1 mod) removes the exposed crew mod
+1 Reduced Crew (1, +1 mod) -1 passenger slot
+4 speed (-4, +4 mods) ACC/TS -20/40
Note: Reduces ACC to zero and TS to PACE bonus.
1 strength enhancement (1, 1 mods) strength +1 die type
1 jump jets (1, 1 mod)
  • note: walker mod, given the size of this Power Armor, increases jumping height to 100 feet. Need to use piloting roll to use these
1 weapon mount, forearm (1, 1 mod)
1 weapon mount, forearm (1, 1 mod)
