I dunno about the 'fairy magic' thing. Lots of races have innate AB Magic. Why should fairies be limited in ways other races aren't? The racial perk costs them the same number of picks after all.

It comes down to something similar though. AB Magic gives 5 PPE. Extra Power (with no AB) gives 5 PPE. AB Magic gives every pixie the ability to cast spells, which works well enough for the 'innate magic' of original fairies. One thing I was trying to finagle was them having AB Magic AND Extra Power...

I'm wary of it simply on account of how easy it is to boost one's skills to sky-high levels in Rifts.
Seems like it wouldn't take a HUGE investment to have an infini-power with this.

Fair enough. Weapon it is then. I mean, it really works to my advantage. 96 hours at 2 hours per point means 48 points and running out of them means the armor is also out of juice. Using a weapon means 60 points and they're independent from the armor's power supply. I'm coming out ahead on this deal.
