00.1 [2017] The 1st Adventure ... It started in a bar.

Pre-Game IC RP
  • Every member of the Black Company has their own Mobile Handheld Radios. Yours crackles and transmits:

    "Black Company be advised: This is Mathias. Members assigned to spec-ops-eight are to report to the Outside Inn. That would be the small inn, or Pub, located across from the Northern Gun outpost, by the front of the Castle. One hour people. That will be all."

    You recognize the voice of Mathias. You haven't actually had a chance to talk to him as of yet, being a newer member of the crew, however you have heard of him. In fact you saw him in combat about a week ago when you, the Hover Train, and the company were traveling east from Oklahoma to Castle Refuge. A band of Neuron Beasts and two Black Faeries attacked the convoy. Every member of the Black came out to blast away with might and magic at the attackers.

    You recall hearing that Major Mathias is the only "openly" former CS operative in the outfit. Supposedly he was born, raised and fought in the Iron Heart area before joining Blackwell and the Black Company.

    Mathias is requesting (ordering) every member assigned to SOG 8 (that's you) to report to him - at the Outside. You are a member of the SOG 8, orders arrived this morning.

    Being allowed to join the Black Company was nice, being invited to be a SOG member is even more exciting. Status, better pay, status. More danger, but status and more pay! You are unaware of who else has been assigned the the team yet. You are sure to find out once you arrive at the Inn.

    You know that the Outside Inn is located just across the way from the Merc Camp and near the NG Rep. outpost.

    Arriving at the Outside Inn you see that the front door is open and you are able to freely enter the establishment. The barkeep, Gordon a male human, welcomes you and ushers you in. As the members of the Eighth arrive you can order food, drink, and talk among yourselves until Mathias arrives.

"Acknowledged", is Alecto's terse reply. She elected to complete the cleaning of her weapon before reporting however. The bulky Northern-Gun plasma ejector had developed a hairline fracture in its casing when she'd had to use it to block the hamfist of a brodkil once, and now the optics of the laser pre-fire chamber had to be kept scrupulously clean or risk a meltdown. Her old company hadn't been terribly interested in effecting repairs. It was something she intended to bring up with her new one at an appropriate moment.

Some swabbing and a bit of spray-on sealant, and it was done. Alecto gathered her gear and made her way out across the grounds to where the bar sat. She hadn't been there before. Its intended function seemed superfluous for her, and her previous history indicated that people were sometimes uncomfortable eating in the presence of one who did not eat. Alecto could simulate eating. Her mouth and throat led to an internal canister...but it had to be flushed out and rinsed after use. An extra task she chose not to burden herself with unless it was in furtherance of an objective. Simply 'meeting people' wasn't enough. She would meet people in the course of her duties soon enough.

Clearly the Black Company had a different philosophy of command though. The Outside Inn was a public place, even if it was frequented primarily by other mercenaries and people from Castle Refuge. Would they really issue orders and assignments to a Special Operations Group in that venue?

It was very interesting. The unexpected nature of it engendered a sense of anticipation. What might she learn from this before it was done?

Iron Tick was in the middle of doing one of his favorite activities when the call came through. He sighed deeply possibly forgetting to turn down the volume on his handheld radio. He looked at his hand which was holding a thing of beauty. Just my luck! I got to stop now just before payday. He looked at the four gents sitting across from him, and looked down at his hand. A real shame!. He stood up laying the cards on the table face down signaling he was folding the hand. " Well guys, it seems I got to go.". As he turned to leave one of the men laughed and taunted him, "What are you chicken." Tick causually looked back putting a meaty fist through the table sending cards and cred sticks flying.
"No one calls me chicken."
Once outside he realized he left a ton of cred sticks on the table and he didn't need to report in for an hour. Ack! Stupid Tick, can't make your fortune by leaving your money in other people's pockets.. He clicks on the communicator and in a resigned deep voice said, " Iron Tick is a go."

The grackle slides out from under his Mountaineer, wipes some grease from his hands, and grabs his communicator. "Thrudh here. I read ya. Headin' that way as ordered." He deposits the communicator back to its resting place and slides back under the vehicle.

Yes I am still reading every Character in order to Approve the Character. However, lets get started shall we. You have been called to attend a briefing (in the local bar as odd as that is). Mathias wishes to speak with you there.

As you arrive this is what it looks like:

The bar keep, Gordon, welcomes you each as you arrive and will offer you a drink or food. Gordon comes across as a very friendly person.

Alecto looked up from where she was politely declining the offer of service from Gordon. It took a moment to pattern-match the woman's face from the company database. Sasha Zydb, colloquially referred to as 'Zed.' Assault infantry, 'techno-wizard' specialist. Prior to her assignment to SOG 8, their units had cooperated in the takedown of a dimensional entity.

Crazy Eight. SOG 8. Context made it a probable connection.

After a few hundred milliseconds to consider, Alecto decided on 'informal' social filters, based on the surroundings and her desire to project an approachable persona. This also paralleled her observations of other mercenaries, who often put forward very informal behavior until such time as operations were being specifically discussed or performed, and the 'game faces' went on.

She smiled and went over to the techno-wizard, extending a hand for a hearty handshake.

"Zed. Good to see you again. I'm sure Hans will be glad to have you on the team as well. He could use some competition. Right Hans?"

Karchev grabs his mug of coffee and walks over to the table where everyone is gathering. A nervous excitement comes over him, just like the last time he started a new journey. However he is not completely relaxed and doesn't really know who he can trust just yet. Without actually building up his power, he has his Armor spell ready to cast at a moments notice.

Forcing a smile as he takes a seat, Karchev nods in everyone's general direction.

Looking up from the Rail Gun he had just sat on Logun's work bench; Aiden answered the comm message, "copy that, Sir."

Turning back to Logun he pointed to the weapon, "I will be back for this later, see about an estimate on the cost of rigging a magnetic ammunition drum and feed mechanism."

Quickly making his way out of the shop, Aiden heads across the street to the Inn. Ducking underneath the door frame, he makes a quick scan of the room, his sensors compiling data on the occupants. He'd have to see the techs about his IFF system, it still registered non-humans as threats by default.

Thrudh stoops his massive frame under the doorway of the Outside Inn, takes a long drag off of his cigar, and lets out a giant puff of rather pungent smoke. "Yeah, this is my kinda place. Bet the beer is no joke. Tall cold one for the tall one here, bartender!" He shouts to Gordon as he wanders over to the gathering of his squadmates.
He takes a quick look at the assembled faces, grins, drags again at his stogie, and breathes the smoke out while saying "SOG 8, yeah?"

“Then she turned into a demon!” Gargamel’s face turned a bright vibrant red, tiny horns grew out of his skin from the forehead down to the chin, his hair disappeared and his features turning into something that could only be spawned from one of the Hells.

The children shrieked with delight as the story grew every more exciting.

“The poor elves were petrified,” his face changed again first to that of an elven man and then an elven lady, both with scared expressions on their face.

“But there was nothing to fear for the famed Cyberknight Sir Ronith was there. He stood before the evil beasts, blades in hand. The first lashed out, slicing one creature down as it tried to grab one of the poor elves.” His face changed again to a strong jawed hero type, “He leapt over the attack of the next …” And so the story continued as he used his sword to slash the air.

A cyberknight stood nearby chuckled as Gargamel finished his story and collected his gear, placing his sword in a scabbard strapped across his back.

“That’s funny; I could swear that Sir Ronith has never been anywhere near there.”

“I saw him once when having to go to Merctown. They would much rather hear about a famed hero and who am I to disappoint them. Next time, I am sure they will be asking for stories of me or maybe yourself good sir.”

Gargamel’s comlink beeped as the message came through.

“Duty calls good sir,” he bowed extravagantly, before heading out of the refugee camps where he’d been helping keep morale up and towards the Outside Inn

He joined the others, resting his feet on the table as he sat down. He had seen some of them around, but so far, he had not dealt with any of them. He was not the only magic user here and certainly one of them appeared to be a Techno Wizard. He would be handy to get on the right side.

“Good day to you all, I am Gargamel, Battle Mage and Swordsman extraordinaire at your service.”

She picks up an old, worn deck of cards off the table and starts flipping through them, occasionally pulling out a face card and putting it it at the front of the deck.

Karchev watches the others converse, fascinated by the various conversations going on simultaneously around him. A wisp of cigar smoke wafts across his eyes, and he realizes that he has been not paying very close to his surroundings. Looking around with his inner being he feels that familiar electric warmth that can only mean magic:

Making his way over to the table surrounded by obvious Black Company members, Aiden makes note of the number of security cameras around the room. Seems a bit excessive for a bar, things must get rowdy in the outskirts.

Stepping up to the group, he shoots a quick glance around, data flowing through his HUD. Lingering a moment longer on the Grackletooth and Dwarf, Matthias' words ring through his head. Give them a chance, and they may just surprise you.

Reaching up he disengages the locks on his helmet; thankful for the protection to one of the last remnants of humanity left him by the surgeons. Setting his helmet on the table, he turns back to offer a metal hand to the group in general. "Aiden Merrick"

Alecto listened to the interplay, trying to follow the subtext with varying degrees of success. The use of the term 'engine degreaser' for example, seemed out of place. In her experience this was evidence that a term was being used colloquially, to mean something other than its strict definition. But she wasn't sure what it meant in this context. So she went back to the last thing she was relatively sure of, to try to contribute.

Tapping dirt off his boots the man is wearing a hooded Cloak. He looks like a tall broad shouldered man but his face is covered currently by the hood. No visible weapons can be seen but he is wearing armor, heavy plate.

Gordon calls out, "Welcome, last call. Almost anyway. We close in an hour. Come on in and make yourself at home."

Nodding from under the grey black hood the man walks straight to the table the members of the SOG 8 are assembled around.

Reaching up with both hands he removes the hood. Wearing goggled sunglasses the older man has greying short hair and beard.

For a moment the man looks around at the eight of you. Clearing his throat he says:

"My guess is you are Black Company. I spoke with your Major Mathias via radio. He said to drop this off to you, here, and that he would pick it up from you when he arrives."

Looking around the man sighs. He produces a rolled up tube of papers. Sealed by wax.

"I am not used to playing delivery boy. A few of you look like you're about to explode. Like you think I'm going to fight you. I'm not. Relax. I'm a Legion Cyber Knight, Sir Merikh. Just playing delivery boy for Lord Coake. Here. Take the papers. Give it to Mathias. I need to go."

Either someone takes the papers or the Knight will leave them on the table. Turning to leave the man pulls his hood back up and mutters a hello to Gordon on his way out of the bar.

Concentrating for a moment, Karchev focuses deeply at the rear of the bar and then relaxes.

If you want Karchev you could roll your Arcana skill and use Detect Arcana (at will) or, still roll and expend 2 PPE to use Exalted Detect Arcana. Normally this would be done "Line of Sight" but this feeling is growing in power and you will likely learn what it is soon enough. You can just edit his post if you want. ~ Lars

Gordon shakes his head and quietly says:

Gordon sets down the glass he was polishing clean and steps back into the kitchen.

When no one else seems eager to accept the paper, Alecto reaches out to take it from the cyberknight. There was an odd sensory feedback from her hand as it came near him...a sort of malfunction or misreading in that hand that felt like a vibration or buzz. It felt...unpleasant. She had not faced a cyberknight in combat, but had read reports they could interfere with electronics. A side effect?

Alecto set the scroll down on the tabletop between the assembled SOG.

Even stranger. The Black Company had no official ties to the Tomorrow Legion, though did frequent enough business for them that they had camped nearby. If this was a contract with the Legion, why convey it via such archaic, insecure means? If it wasn't, why was an official of the Legion bringing it?

"My assumptions about how a military operation is run may be in error," she comments aloud, staring at the scroll as if it was something offensive.

Iron Tick looks at the papers Alecto grabbed, looks at his drink he has been clumsily trying to grasp unsuccessfully, and then looks at Karchev. That barman's answer does not meet satisfaction. He angrily tosses the full drink against the wall and stands slightly jostling the table. Impatiently he calls to the barman, "You will meet the satisfaction of the one called Karchev!". Iron Tic clomps his way to the bar itself, and slams his meaty fists none too gently on its edge. No satisfaction for me or Karchev! This insult will not be taken lightly. He bellows, " You will meet Karchev's satisfaction, my friend is waiting!. Iron Tic peers in trying to catch a glimpse of the disapeared barkeep.

"Peace my new friend, there is a great number of mysteries about this bar and I suspect this company. Now is not the time of action."

Karchev pulls back his hood and runs his hand through his short brown hair. Although he looks no older than mid 30s, his hair has already started to grey on the sides of his head. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, holds it for a few seconds before slowly releasing it. He finishes this meditation by run his fingers through his short beard, attempting to straighten it.

Feeling slightly more relaxed he looks back at Zed with a mischievous smile.

"Having said that - when the action does arise I look forward to fighting by your side. If this is how normal meetings go I can't wait to see what an adversary will bring out of you!"

While the TW Dwarf basks in momentary warmth, just prior to any reaction he may have, the rest of the Eight see a female make her way into the bar from the back door. She is a young looking pretty (Attractive) woman with dirt on her fingers, from gardening?

She glances around the bar, possibly wondering what the earlier pounding sound was. With a faint smile she heads to the kitchen and calls out, "Gordon? Mr. Bean? All well?" Unless stopped she will also disappear into the kitchen.

Any Magic users in the Eight will feel the presence of what feels like a living walking Energy Battery. The best way to describe the feeling is the woman walking into the kitchen is a PPE battery, full, leaking energy as she moves. It becomes apparent that she is not human, some sort of D-Bee energy battery who looks like she is nice and enjoys gardening.

Stopping just before entering the kitchen the woman smiles at Sasha. "My father was a Legion member. When he was killed in battle his friend - Mr. Bean - told me that Dad had left me the bar. Mr. Bean helps in the kitchen. Gordon is a dear, just hired him a few months ago. I am always around Sasha. I normally spend my days out back growing food for the bar. I love gardening. Across the room at the table Hans will realize the "scrolls" are an entity of some kind. The paper is "alive" and whatever the thing is, it is malevolent in nature. Hans gets the feeling that if he wasn't such a smart fellow he might have done whatever the entity asked of him. Might have been nice of Sir Merikh to warn you? Somewhere in Hans memory he drags up the words... Nexus Maw. Also, some sort of undead humanoid was in the vision.

After Milli disappears off to the kitchen, Karchev feels the energy lessen.

Gordon walks back into the bar area and puts down a crate of clean glasses. Looking around the man says, "What was all the yelling? Like I said, last call. Close in 40 minutes."

Zed takes Milli's hand, but rather than shake it, she kisses the back of it, like something out of an old pre-rift film.
"A pleasure indeed, Milli. I'm more into building machines than growing plants myself, but I'll come by sometime. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two just watching you."
She smiles.
"It may be a while before I get a chance, but I definitely will when I can."

She walks back to the table and takes her seat.

"Could be a test of some kind, Hans. Possibly for Ser Merikh more than us. Alecto, if you're unaffected maybe you should hold onto it, just in case. I doubt Hans could get it away from you easily if it's still messing with his head."

Karchev looks at the envelope long and hard, trying to determine if he wants to tempt fate and grab a hold of it too. Deciding that he is more concerned about the others frowning on this behavior than whatever is possessing the paper, he decides to leave it alone.

"Does that seem like overkill to anyone? I mean i can understand not wanting people to open the letter but that seems a little extreme!

Karchev thinks upon the matter for a few more moments and then reaches for his pack behind the chair. He pulls out a well used notebook and pen. He opens it up and begins to write some notes.

"I still want to know what Milli really is."he says to know one in particular.

Thrudh draws deeply on his cigar, letting the smoke out slowly as he processes the situation. "If that paper is tryin' to make Hans do stuff, whaddya suppose the major is going to do with it? Ain't even on the job yet and I get this feelin' it's all about to go sideways in a real hurry."
Thrudh switches the grip on his cigar to free up his right hand, which drops casually to his pistol. He glances at the cameras placed around the bar, and begins meandering slowly around the table, sliding past Aiden, to put his back to the corner. He grabs his drink with his tail as he moves.

Zed makes her way back to the table. Gordon is standing by the exit to the garden and near the stairs that lead down below. Milli and Bean are presumably in the kitchen. There are three non-Legion men sitting at a table. (C1, C2, C3). They are dressed in light armor and look like they have hand guns. Not an unusual thing in today's world. The front door of the bar open and Major Mathias steps into the room.

Silence falls for a moment. The three non-Legion men look uncomfortable and like they were about to vacate. They stop, dead still, half way out of their seats.

Gordon mutters, "Son of a... damn it! You gotta be kidding. Months of undercover work flushed! These Mercs said Major Mathias. That's not your name, Colonel."

Colonel? Major Mathias looks startled. Nearly dropping his helmet. Seeing the bar man, the Black Company Major simultaneously reaches for his side arm and yells, "Coalition spy! Get him"

Stepping back towards the stairs Gordon reaches for the compound bow on the wall, saying:

"Priority nine! Systems on! Activate!"

Something thumps loudly from above. Since the something has a joker, it smashes down out of a newly made hole in the ceiling. As it falls you see a CS Skelebot blasting its energy rifle at Hans (only its mechanical brain knows why you got singled out - Shooting hit with raise. Damage: below).

With bow in hand Gordon looks daggers at Mathias for a second, drops a black hockey puck looking thing on the floor, in front of the stairs he runs down.

Once the puck hits the floor a shimmering Barrier lights up in front of the stairs.

Sorry Milli if I make a mess. Gordon started it. Damnable CS make a mess of everything.

Leaping to her feet, Zed taps a button on a tube mounted at the small of her back, feeling the rush of energy and seeing the world slow before her eyes.
She detaches her railgun from it's mount, the attached gimbal swinging down and locking into place.
"C'mon Vera. For Tolkeen." She says simply, as she pulls the trigger sending numerous shards of electrically and magically charged metal at the Skelebot.

Like I said. Sideways in a hurry. Just my luck. Frappin' CS! Thrudh shifts over against the wall near the entrance, pulls his pistol to fire at the skelebot, but decides first to lob his drink at C1 to throw him off guard. After Zed obliterates the skelebot and the 3 bystanders surrender, Thrudh takes aim at the barrier.

I'm going to interject here with an update and then continue combat.

The ‘bot shot first. Shooting Hans.
Gordon dropped a puck, and ran.
By the time the ‘bot hits the floor it’s been shot multiple times.

So,
Some sort of barrier is still erected in front of the stairs. Gargamel is shooting at it. (Missing?)
Gordon is down the stairs.
The ‘bot is blasted into pieces. Slagged metal drips to the wood floor.
Karchev is shooting C2, once hit the man is Shaken and falls over to the floor crying out, “I surrender!”
C1 and C3 both cry out that they give up too, tossing their weapons aside.
Mathias is headed towards the stairs. He does call out, “Don’t lose the Scrolls!”
I assume you all will be going after Gordon, down the stairs once you are able to. So I will post a map of the lower level soon.
The combat vs. ‘bot went hecka fast. I forget how powerful Rifts characters are.
Lastly, an unknown assailant fires up through the floor from below, blasting three small holes up through the roof. Was that Gordon or some one else? The three holes blast up through the floor where Mathias was standing by the front door. (What does this tell you? Likely that there may be more than one bad guy down stairs.)

Once you all say whats up I will post lower level map.

Alecto stood up from her chair and tucked the scroll into one of her pouches on her armor as Hans applied a small magic artifact that did...something. When she vaulted over the table and made a beeline for the hole the Tic had made, she moved with incredible speed...far more than she'd normally be capable of!

(Including some narration of Hans 'overclocking' me with Quickness before I get moving! With Quickness I can move up to 24"...depending on how far I have to move, I may have actions when I catch up. I will wait for the map to be sure.)

Hans cracks his knuckles... Time to show what I bring to the team. Time to overclock Alecto. The Heisenbergian Recertainifying Resonance Solidifiers, the Chrono-Accelerator, and a Photonic Weapon Enhancer in case of Undead should do the trick.

With a blur of motion, Hans assembles a device and uses a few devices on Alecto. Her visible metal takes on a silver colour with a bluish tint, her sword starts to glow, and she almost starts to vibrate.

Giving Alecto a final slap on the back, he states, "That will do ya! Go get em!"

Slightly confused Iron Tic does what he does best. The one called Gordon, must give satisfaction.He rushes over to the stairwell slamming a fist and his shoulder into the nearby wall trying to cut off Gordon's escape.

Seeing that the CS forces in the room have been subdued, Aiden pulls his chain greatsword off his back and moves to back up Iron Tic. His sword roars to life as he sprints through the Titan sized hole in the wall.

She pops open a panel in her armor and starts pulling bits of circuit boards pre-wired in runic formations, something that looks like a brass bottle, some wires with alligator clips, and a roll of what appears to be electrical tape. She mumbles to herself. "Just need a transference medium... sympathetic resonance..." she reaches behind the bar and grabs a half-full bottle of whisky. "Spirits for spirits, that'll work."

Ok, so here's the idea - make a device that confers the Burrow power with the trapping of motion-triggered spirit-form travel - that is, when moving you are quasi-intangible, but stop moving and you are solid again. The best part? It would be "cast" by taking a shot of whisky :lol:

"Zed, If I wanted the "civilian" dead, he would be dead. This gun was a courtesy and a gentle request to stop running. That is even assuming he is an innocent in all of this, which when dealing with spies is easier said than proved. Having said that I am more than happy to follow your idea.

Iron Tic sees Alecto moving like a juicer, and Aiden moving as fast as well as only Aiden can. Tic looks at them giving an appreciative nod. " The one called Alecto, did you try one of the rhino steak burgers? Is that what makes you move so swiftly? The one called Aiden a lofty sword you wield!" Alecto seems to see the world for what it is, I wonder if she can see what is going on here. Very pensive Iron Tic asks will all due seriousness. " If you can ease the situation. Going Down!
  • Iron Tic crashes magnificently through the wooden wall. He eyes Gordon racing down the stairs deeper into the lower level. Tic races after Gordon and catches up to the bar keep. Grabbing onto Gordon the spy doesn't fight the Titan Juicer. Gordon just relaxes and catches his breath. Moments later Aiden and Alecto arrive adjacent Tic. The Jin Ro named Thurdh arrives next via the stairs into the room. Karchev is right behind him and still on the stairs. Mathias is also in the stairwell.

    Hans has opted to boost his teammates via some increasable TW Speed building! Hans then triumphantly grabs a free drink and stays upstairs watching the three civilians.

    Zed constructs a device to become intangible and drops down into the room ready to surprise anyone below. As she drops she let's go of the devise and Gargamel uses it next, also dropping down to the room below.

    Arriving in the room you all see that there are two Psi Stalkers, one male, one female, two Skelebots and one damned powerful looking bulky Full Conversion CS Borg.

    The cool air of the lower level isn't as chilling as seeing the weapon ends of these CS members. Two skelebots are pointing their CV-212 rifles towards the party, barrels smoking from shooting the ceiling earlier. The CS Borg has a large rifle aimed at you all. Both Psi Stalkers have raised NG-E4 Plasma Ejectors at the ready. Only Gordon has a relaxed non combative look to him. The other CS are at the ready and showing no sign of fear. There are several doors in this room. Only one open. The one behind Seric, male Stalker. At the far end of this room is a "fight pit" it looks like. Blood is mostly cleaned off of it though a little remains.

Once I post the Map it's on: surrender, fight, talk or all the above.

I'll post what bad guys do once: Zed, Alecto, Gargamel, Thurdh and Aiden go.

Zed starts clipping the wires to leads on runic circuit boards, then wraps the whole thing around the brass bottle adhering it with copious amounts of tape. Pouring whisky into the oddly-decorated bottle she plugs up the top and shakes it like a martini. She grabs a shot glass, and pours herself a shot of whisky - which has oddly become a lovely shade of bright blue.

"I'm headed down. If you want to follow, have a mage pour you a shot. Then will yourself to descend. You'll drift right through the floor, and anything else. Hmm. Only made enough for two."

She shoots the blue whisky in a single gulp, wincing a little.

"It's not the good stuff, but it gets the job done."
As she speaks, she becomes slightly translucent (and slightly blue).

Descending through the floor, she's immediately glad that she's not corporeal... standing next to a (presumably enemy) combat cyborg is not her preferred way to fight.

Keying her radio, she reports:
"Six bogies! Barkeep, two 'bots, two 'stalkers, and a full 'borg!"

Oh, but this is an arcane device, and not using a combat skill, so +4 from Machine Maestro.
Not so bad then, just a -2. Still going to take a full turn to make it to avoid MAP though.

Of the three civilians up with Hans, two look frozen by fear. The one Karchev shot peels himself off the floor and curses.

"Bloody hell. You punk arse jackass Castle Do Gooders are just a bunch of crappy non uniform armored wanna be CS goons!"

Stumbling the man holds onto the table with one hand and points at Hans.

"You Sir Short Stuff are a brute. I aughta..."

Trailing off he looks to be muttering a spell or mentally summoning up some will power. Suddenly the man grins wickedly and slowly walks towards Hans.

(Next round you two may be having words or an exchange of blows).

As far as the Whiskey. It's damn good. As far as the Milli. You recall recent chatter about blue skinned PPE battery like D-Bee's that were rescued and brought to the Castle. How and if they are connected to Milli is not obvious. Likely they are not. Milli looks human. She holds too much energy. Not a thing you have seen before. OOC: Unique D-Bee I rolled up.

Alecto's gaze slides from one opponent to another, tagging each by estimated threat level.

Primary threat: the full conversion cyborg. Secondary threats: The robots. The psi-stalkers were tertiary threats, primarily because it was likely they had vibro weapons.

If she had been acting alone, she would most likely have engaged the weaker threats first in an effort to reduce the enemy's numbers advantage quickly. As it was, she could rely on her teammates for that.

"Engaging primary threat," she reported calmly, and under the potent magical enhancements laid on her, she blurred forward across the room towards massive bulk of the cyborg. With her right hand she drew the vibroblade at her side. From her left arm another blade scythed out from a concealed port under the skin at her wrist.

She was on the cyborg in an eyeblink, stabbing into his armor and using it to swing herself up onto his shoulder to aim a deep thrust down into the more vulnerable plating between his neck and shoulder. The cyborg reeled, and she was forced to leap clear to avoid a swing of his arm. Even then, Alecto kept the pressure on, slashing with each arm as she stepped back in again, not wanting to give him space to use that giant rifle of his if she could possibly avoid it!

As most of her attacks failed to penetrate the cyborg's incredibly heavy armor, Alecto reported over the commlink to the others, "Warning. Primary threat is a hardened target. Recommend focusing efforts on secondary and tertiary threats."

(Okay, messed up the Open tag, should have been (12) not (10). So the 28 explosion is actually only a 13 from the 11 rolled +2. Still probably a raise, so I'll roll raise damage. Don't add it on if his Parry is high enough for it not to be.)

Forgot to put Open on the first damage rolls. So the 13 result is actually an 18. The 11 result is a 14, plus that's the one the raise is on, so it's a 20 if his Parry is low enough that a 13 to hit raises. And forgot Smite, so +8 to all damage.

So in the end, a 10 attack with 26 damage. A 13 attack with 28 (if a raise) or 22 (if not a raise) damage. A 6 attack for 21 and a 5 attack for 17.

All damage has AP 4 from vibroblades.

And now, for the two more attacks I can make because I forgot how Exalted Quickness works :))

Aiden steps out of the stairway and sweeps the room, target data sliding across his HUD. Reaching the same conclusion as Alecto he sprints towards the borg, as she rockets past and leaps onto their target.

Squeezing the handle of his sword, the blades roar to life mid-swing.

I missed who you were hitting? Borg right? If you still want to hit borg note the 5 to hit misses, you can use a bennie to re-roll the hit if you want. However the damage is too low, so a second bennie to re-roll damage would be needed. Or just miss and try again next round.

If its a Skelebot the 5 will hit it yes, but if it is going to be someone else the 5 will miss. The damage of 13 AP2 is enough to do something to the Skelebot....but not to the others. Can you PM me who you are hitting. Thanks!

Karchev gathers his powers to begin casting True Invisibility when he hears mention of two Psi Stalkers don the stairs.

"Ok, I am glad I didn't teleport myself in the middle of those magic munchers" he says to no one on particular.

Karchev adjusts his movement to try and get down the stairs a little stealthier so he can get into position to attack the stalkers.

Gargamel used the intangiblity device and dropped down through the floor with ease to be faced with a few threats to choose from.

"Well," He smiled, seeing the borg "looks like we have something worthy of my skills."

He dismissed the intangiblity, activating his Battle Fury Blade as he did so and quickly cast a spell on himself.

Everything slowed down around him as he stepped forward to attack the borg, shooting at one of the rangers on the way past.

Round 2 (Prior to Tic, Karchev or Mathias going, the bad guys take their turn. Sorry about the last version. One thing that will help me is using on site dice roller and having your Toughness as it changes in your Sig. or just added at bottom of your post. Thank you, GMing IRL seems easier, but hopefully I will get smoother/better. If this post some how changes what Karchev or Tic posted, Edit your post if needed - thanks! A Map can be seen here: If I have you in wrong spot let me know.)

The distant music from the bar above... Hans places the three civilians asleep.... and those with good hearing might notice the music cassette changes songs from Song to a new song.

The End (Borg):
The End, the CS Heavy Cyborg is under a pelting rain of sword strikes. Attempting to point his mounted gun (connected to his armor and also held in his hand) at anyone in order to blast away at them, he bellows in a mechanically enhanced voice, "Damned magic using aliens!"
OOC Comments
The End is Shaken. The hands of time were moved back, in this reality he does not move so there is no need to do Withdraw Damage. Additionally, he does not fire upon anyone like before.
Mace (Psi Stalker):
She screams a war cry when Thurdh shot her, unfazed by the hit she points her NG-E4 at the stairs intent on stopping who ever else is coming down the stairs. Blowing a hole through the wall the blast of plasma burns across Mathias. Mathias is slammed into the wall and slumps onto the stairs burning in plasma. He is incapacitated, his entire right arm is burned off. Plasma burns brightly in the stairwell. Wood catching on fire.

Total Damage: 49 no AP, = 1 Shaken and 7 wounds. Soaked 1 Wound & Injury Table = His arm. Note!! 49 damage - I was amazed, Aced 3 10's and got a total of 49 DAMAGE. So Mace still shoots her NG-E4 and starts both Mathias and the stairwell on fire. If you look at Mathias, who I had planned on keeping around longer lol, he looks straight up dead.
Skelebot #1
SB1 points its rifle at Karchev and just about to fire at the mage, a shot from Thrudh obliterates the CS 'bot. A hole was burned into its chest and as it slumps back against the wall it's rifle and body explode into bits.
OOC Comments
SBT (Small Burst Template) around SB1 explodes but hits no one - is loud though - and the wall adjacent the dead bot catches on fire.

SB2 fires at the Iron Tic striking the large Juicer.

Gordon (CS "Spy")
Tic is about to hang Gordon on the coat rack as the bar man, CS Spy, starts to shimmer as electrical currants twist and turn wildly about him. Electric currants snap back and forth between his hands and three bolts of crackling blue white energy burst out of his hands. Gordon says, "Sorry Anders." then louder says, "I suggest running." The hurtled three rapid bolts streak out and wiz past and around the Mercs gathered around the CS Borg who is struck by each bolt. The CS Cyborg is blasted off his feet and lands on his back side. Smoke curls upwards from his lifeless chest.

Note after being hung on coat rack his t shirt will tear and he will be standing on the floor.
Seric (Psi Stalker):

The Psi Stalker grunts unhappily after being shot by Gargamel. Seeing the blazing fast Alecto he surmises that she is his primary target. However just before he can open up on her the bolts of electricity slam into The End. Seric yells, "Anders!" Hears Gordon speak, Seric says, "Traitor!" The Psi Stalker changes his mind about shooting Alecto. Glances at Mace and yells, "Run baby! The borg is booby trapped! Run!" Seric uses one hand to open the door behind him and the other to beckon to Mace to follow him.
OOC Comments
Seric will end up dealing with the Tic in a moment, he does not fire off any shots and seems more interested in fleeing. FYI: Seric fails his Opposing Roll Tic.
