One Shot to Celebrate Dead Tree Delivery of Savage Rifts

Post by Venatus Vinco »

Hello,

I am thinking of running a roll20 one shot once the printed books begin to get delivered to people. Kind of a celebratory session for the community. The timing will be determined once we know when delivery will begin.

I'd also like to make a little community event around the day. Assuming we work with his schedule, Sean R. has agreed to come on at the beginning of the session to say hello and interact a bit too.

Not sure how to accomplish this. Don't want to live stream the game, not that confident in my ability to pull that off technically nor am I interested. Also need to limit the gaming session to an appropriate number of players 3-6.

Maybe start with an open chat on discord (text or voice) then move into the game after that?

Thoughts? Ideas? Interest level?

Dead Trees Tell No Tales
Lazlo and the Tomorrow Legion’s Community Outreach team have teamed up to supply new edition books to children in small towns with no schools so they can learn to read using imaginative role play. The books, which are enchanted to bring the children's stories to life with illusions, were printed in Lazlo and loaded onto an Iron Horse TW Train Heading for MercTown. There, the Ostrosaurus Express would receive the shipment and deliver the books to disparate communities across North America. Unfortunately the Iron Horse was robbed along the ley line and the shipment is missing. Now the Tomorrow Legion is dispatching a Special Exploratory Team to recover the missing shipment and get it to MercTown before the next mail run.

From hangouts:

If interest was high enough and GMs available maybe we could have a few tables running the same scenario or variations on a theme.

We would open the evening with an open session with Sean then break off into our tables for a gaming session.

You know I'm in (as a player). I am not confident enough in my Roll 20 skills to GM this time around.

I'll post a join link and character creation details this week...or you can use one of the pre-generated archetypes PEG just released.

Okay,

So we have two interested for sure. Maybe some newcomers from other parts of the Savage sphere as well.

Pre-gens are available from the recently released archetypes: Cyberknight, Mind Melter, Juicer, Ley Line Walker, City Rat, Glitterboy

If you want to make a new character then we're looking at 4 advances (so Seasoned 1 for non-MARS characters).

I'll take max 6 players.

I am 100% in on this and will have a Combat Mage ready!
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

I will fix her character sheet before the game.

I will use the Line Walker then. No need to make an all new awesomeness when there is already a Wizard.
