Squad Building
Please follow this format for the Roll20 Character Creation.
1. Character Concept
As Knights, and specifically Vauxhall Knights, you are sworn to protect and defend, God and Country. Your God is your interpretation, but your country is England. Post Rifts England. England is wild and crazy, following the Rifts, and you and your squadmates are here to stabilize the Motherland.
[Please give me a solid description of who your character is and how he/she came into the Order of the Vauxhall Cross.]
While the Knights of Vauxhall Cross originated in London England, they have been based in Bath England for the last fifty years or so.
Once we have come to terms on a concept then, we can work on a build. *For your first session, having your character at 80 or 90 percent completed here, will make the transition easier to Roll20.*
2. Character Build
[Please use the Character Format established on the SavageRifts.com boards.]
[We will NOT be using the 5 extra points for our character builds.]
[Utilize the Squad OOC to introduce your character and to get acquianted with your squad mates.]

Re: Squad Building
Well...a game in Rifts England just begs for a crazed pixie crusader.
Seelia Nishnocket is the name! Full of zeal and zest, with veal in her vest! Devil with a blade! Demon with a spell! Flicker in the air and whicker 'round the bend, she'll stickya in the end! Seelia's services have been assigned to the Knights by the mysterious 'Queen' that she serves, in repayment of a favor or debt She owed this august order. Or maybe just to get a century or two of quiet in the court. Seelia doesn't know! She hasn't got TIME to ask questions like that! She's far too busy being the littlest big damn hero there ever was!

You got the Savage Worlds Fantasy Companion for fae and fairie stats?Alecto wrote:Well...a game in Rifts England just begs for a crazed pixie crusader.

Hmm, interesting notion. I was going to just use the D-bee building thing in Rifts to make pixies, but I do have the Fantasy Companion. Would you prefer I use those rules?
Hm, actually, I read through the Fantasy Companion. It doesn't have fey in it though, besides elves and a couple 'monstrous' ones.

Post up your D-Bee build. I will work on a conversion from the Rifts Source Books. We will come to a consensus.

Re: Squad Building
I did some preliminary work on this in my character-experimentation thread in Supporting Cast. Revisiting my old workup with some changes:
Original Rifts traits:
Low PS, high PP, somewhat low PE
Flight
Nightvision and keen sight
Invisibility at will
Sense Ley Lines
Innate magic spells
Usually attractive (if tiny)
Some have resistance to environments (usually cold ones for 'frost' faeries)
SW Racial Traits
Positive traits (2 "free"): 14
Attribute Increase
- Agility 2, 4
Edge: Dodge, 2
Flight 2
Invisibility (comparing costs between racial traits and abilities from Super Powers, they seem to line up, thus Invisibility could potentially be costed at 4/level?) 4
Low Light Vision, 1
AB (Magic), 1
Negative Traits: 12
Attribute Penalty
-1 Strength rolls, -2
Weakness to Cold Iron (as minor Hindrance from the Supers Companion), -1
Bad Reputation, -1 (-2 Charisma with most people, who know better than to trust Little Folk)
Cyber Resistant, -1
Nonstandard Physiology (literally 6 inches to 1 foot tall), -1
Distinctive, -2
Small 2, -2
Slow -1 (does not affect Flight)
Restricted Path (no ISP), -1

Re: Squad Building
Max,
1) Do you have another approach for being a crazy?
With the fae being Cyber Resitent how would she acquire her MOM Implants?
2) Do you have plans for more magic then?
Crazies would be AB (Psionics) and you have Fae as AB (Magic)

Oh...oh!
Hahaha, I used the term 'crazy' in its non-game adjective form. IE - a kind of nutty, off the wall character. Not a Crazy as in a Rifts IF.
Seelia's not a Crazy. She's just crazy.
I'd probably go for a MARS build, actually. I even have some rolls for one in Supporting Cast; or I can make new ones if you'd prefer that.

Race looks good; I'd personally suggest extra PPs instead of an AB.
Basically the Dragon PPE/TW feature, but at 5 PPE; They are used as a power source in Bio-wizardry for a reason

Re: Squad Building
It comes down to something similar though.
AB Magic gives 5 PPE. Extra Power (with no AB) gives 5 PPE.
AB Magic gives every pixie the ability to cast spells, which works well enough for the 'innate magic' of original fairies.
One thing I was trying to finagle was them having AB Magic AND Extra Power, but there's only so many hindrances you can pile on before it starts feeling like too much.
Open to suggestions though!

Having cleared up the Crazy/crazy question, the AB Magic should be fine. Unless High Command sees something in it that I don't.Alecto wrote:It comes down to something similar though.

Re: Squad Building
If you get Racial AB Magic, it will be AB Fairy Magic and have a hyper limited spell list; Blind, Confusion, Detect/Conceal Arcana, Disguise, Entangle, Fear, Invisibility, Light/Obscure, Slow, and Slumber (or you can add those to another AB Magic Background)
OR you can fit the actual lore of the world and have magic be a thing they learn at a young age (ie an edge) and their innate power (the reason the splugorth enslave them and use them as components) be the racial bit. The nice bit about making it PPs is you can have a burster who gets 5 extra PP or someone with AB Fairy Magic who gets 5 extra PP

Re: Squad Building
I dunno about the 'fairy magic' thing. Lots of races have innate AB Magic. Why should fairies be limited in ways other races aren't? The racial perk costs them the same number of picks after all.

Re: Squad Building
From Alecto:
One question, regarding the Mighty Weapon roll: Can that be a Battle Fury Blade?
I vaguely recall some pushback on that, given that the weapon is priced so highly. It would of course never be something Seelia would try to sell...it's a gift from the Queen, a symbol of her honor and name!
Even so, I respect that it's a very powerful item, and will select something else if you'd prefer.
Knight Commander reply:
I know some feel the Battle Fury Blades a little OP. We will need to tinker with the stats a bit.
For starters, I see the Battle Fury Blade being bigger in size then Seelia.
the Str+2d8 for damage would scale down in size as well. Medium sized would be Str+2d6. Small sized would be Str+2d4.
Battle Fury Blade (Name change appropriate for the setting)
DMG Str+2d4
Weight 3
Cost 13 million (Queen bestowed the weapon to Seelia) - (Possible Hindrance: Code of Honor or Vow associated)
AP 2; Enchanted Silver; Mega Damage for 1 PP; for +4 PPs also gain +2 Fighting, the First Strike and Improved First Strike Edges, and +4 Armor for 3 rounds.

Re: Squad Building
Hm. I'd have to think about that. Pretty big downgrade in damage, and I'm gonna be struggling as it is with just a d6 in Str...plus the reduction in AP.
The powers are still good, even toned down, but 2d4 from 2d8 is kind of brutal. Hm! I'm also not sure what you mean by 'medium' is 2d6. A battle fury blade isn't a super huge sword. Just a regular one, as far as I know? Not to mention, weapons from Fortune and Glory/Hero's Journey are typically considered to accommodate the character even if that means it's nonstandard?
Well, you're the GM of course. My say in the matter is limited to 'do you want this, or one of the other weapons?'
I'll think on that.

Re: Squad Building
Because fairies aren't offensive magic users. They do status effects. Hence why I was suggesting you do PPE instead that way you can "learn" whatever you want to learn. Trappings! But in the end, it's up to SGT to approve stuff for his game. I know the version we put in the book/supplement won't have AB magic. It will have an extra kick for those that grab it as an edge though.Alecto wrote:I dunno about the 'fairy magic' thing. Lots of races have innate AB Magic. Character looks good though. Suggest you pick a druid sept or maybe the Knights of Vauxhall themselves for your second one.

Re: Squad Building
Mmm, well, it costs the character nothing to 'swap' AB Magic with Power Points, since I have both of them.
I don't really see that a racial arcane background is or should be more limited than one taken as an edge from another source, but if that's the GM's call I can adjust to accommodate it without losing anything so it's all good.

Yeah, although I am only advising since SGT is helping me flesh out the England setting. I may actually get to play in this, if the time slot holds.

Re: Squad Building
Looking at either a Psi-Commando Knight (part of the story of the Vauxhall Knights, basically anti-magic/anti-supernatural monster hunters - would use a similar retrap of cyber-knight as Jon's Sea Inquisitor) or a Scathach Druid Knight (Using the Scathach Druid Package if it is approved). I guess a third alternative would be to use the Psi-Operator or Technowizard to create a Psi-Forge Knight - the Vauxhall psychic version of the TW. No one knows the knights better than I do, so why not focus on creating one of them.
Ironically, if someone wanted to create the other druids, they are a lot easier. The Filidh is basically either the Vagabond or the Rogue Scholar with AB Magic or Weird Magic (herbalism trappings for both). The Dryad is a Personal Concept built around AB Magic or Weird Magic, lots of PPE and really cool herbalism trappings.
Also, SGT, check this out - it's a retrap of half elf to be a sidhe blooded human.
Sidhe Blooded Humans
Sidhe blooded humans are a mix of their human blood with the twist of their Sidhe heritage. They gain the Sidhe’s grace but nothing else. Most sidhe blooded humans are well-adjusted, but some are shunned by one side of their heritage or the other and grow resentful. Others may even be mistreated. Their lifespans are closer to their human parent than those of their immortal kin. Most sidhe blooded humans live only to about 100 years.

- Sidhe Heritage: Some sidhe blooded humans retain the grace of their fae parent. Others gain the adaptability of their human ancestry. A sidhe blooded human may either start with a free Edge of his choice (as a human), or a d6 in Smarts instead of a d4.
- Low Light Vision: The character’s eyes amplify light like a cat’s, allowing him to see in the dark. He ignores attack penalties for Dim and Dark lighting.
- Fae Habits: Sidhe blooded humans are known to be odd. They gain a quirk as happenstance of their fae heritage.

Re: Squad Building
Sidhe Blooded Human is well done. Got a good laugh out of the quirk hindrance inclusion. Shenanigans will commence shortly.

The SR.com bonus XP will be available once the Squad is full (4 players). We are using it as incentive for players to join.
