Mind Melter Iconic Edge: Expanded Mind
Expanded Mind
Requirements: Seasoned, Mind Melter
Your hero learns new abilities at a faster rate than normal. Once per rank the hero may take this edge to learn two new powers rather than one. However, both powers must be one rank or more lower than the character's current rank (A seasoned character may learn 2 Novice powers, a veteran character may learn two seasoned or novice powers and so on.) Both powers must take the same class of trapping (Both fire based, cold based, etc.)
Notes: Allows the Mind Melter to have an expand their powers list as was one of their primary benefits in Classic Rifts. I leave it as an open question as to how it should be handed if taken during character creation or if it should be allowed at character creation.

Honestly, this seems a bit broke, since it is 2 edges in one. I mean I want it. Badly. But this combined with meditation would seriously empower (overpower?) the Mind Melter.

Well it is once per rank so at most 4 extra powers by they time you hit legendary and that assumes letting the character take this at character creation. I didn't think that was all that broken.

With the Mind Melter alreays being ~20 to 76 points less than the other frameworks I would allow this with a caveat.
I think the new powers must share a trapping and be related.
treat it basically it is like the Mind Melter learns some new way of using his Bolt, so now he has Burst and Blast.

Fire Armor would be a good extension of Damage Field or Fire Bolt

Not really a fan of requiring similar powers. I could see linked trappings though. What if I only want one of those? Do we have to go through every power to figure out what goes with what? Seems a little overly convoluted to me.
The reason I went with rank - 1 and only allow it to be taken once per rank was to balance out the 2 for 1 deal.
Another project I want to work on is some psionic oriented trappings.

Note that aside from Meditation which in classic was a more general ability these edges were part of the Mind Melters core abilities. Alter Aura, Mind Block, See Aura and Sixth Sense were abilities that all Mind Melters start with. That and a buttload of powers.
