Back in Gloom (Post Hell) Short Interludes

Post by Daniel »

Back to Gloom
  • The members of the 13th SET and the Black Company who were abducted (the Vanished) step through the open Gateway created by Drake. Arriving in the front "lawn" area of the Pinnacle Hotel (Ben's converted spaceship) they are back in the dark gloomy atmosphere of the city. The four Hell Pillars are rolled carefully through the open portal and arrive with the team. Standing between the now closing portal and the front lobby of the hotel the pillars hum softly and lay still.

Cade pulls away from Gargamel's helping hold and knees by one pillar. Looking it over he says: "Need to get them inside the hotel...into the lower levels of the ship. There is a large room on sub level 6 that can be used to store them."

Drake, frowning and looking at Cade says: "How did you say Ben died exactly? I am worried that you are....closer to him than you."

Cade nods and tells his story...

Cade's Story
  • Hired to protect Ben and Diamond Clad from suspected Assassination attempts while the members of the BC and 13th are away on missions.

Ben flipped the back office key to the closed and secured position. The key, a actual key card, was then tucked away in his vested coat. Turning, the Octo Man reaches for his blaster under the front counter in the hotel lobby and pockets it too. Eyeing the lobby he thought about the days this partially buried hotel had been racing through time and space. A stolen flag ship of the United World of Warlocks. He and Scara and their gang had pirated across the stars. Now his wife was a vile Necromancer that his new friends were trying to kill. His hearts hurt. Sad eyes looked up at the young Temporal Warrior named Cade. The man was watching everything and everyone it seemed.

”Ready Ben?” Cade asked while his eyes followed a mother and D-Bee child that were making their way out of the hotel.

Ben sighed and thought how utterly exhausting it must be to be always suspicious of everyone, as Cade was. Nodding Ben waved his tentacles and motioned for Cade to lead on. Something seemed so familiar about the man, and Ben pondered on that as they walked.

    ”How is Clad?”

Cade glanced at Ben then moved to step outside first, looking around for security issues. Ben noticed several men wearing dark googles and dark armor in the street beyond. Part of Cade’s force.

”Clad is as well as that worrying sourpuss ever is. I have him under protection in a secret location while I escort you to the radio station so you can do your announcements. He seems, rightfully so, concerned about Crystal. I bet your feeling... something, since your wife is being hunted.”

Ben stayed close to Cade as they moved to enter a ATV in the street. He was about to say something in his ruff gravely voice to Cade when the man stopped walking. Bumping into Cade, Ben looked up at the tall man and about to speak the Octo Man was startled when Cade roughly pushed him aside, towards the ATV. The newly reconstructed pavement cracked and erupted where Ben had just been.

A form stepped into view from the corner of Cade's vision. As if it had stepped out of nowhere.

    Image

Eyes narrowing the Cade turned to face the newcomer.

    "t'Fethic!!"

"Cade. You are only the student. I am the master. Become me or move aside."

Activating the shinning pure white light blade, Cade moves towards the Temporal Raider and raises the large two handed blade high.

A swipe of the hand by the charred looking Raider known as t'Fethic throws Cade nearly 60 feet to his left where he slams into a wall and drops to the floor groaning.

Ben raises up on his tentacles and starts waving his arms frantically about, tendrils of electricity spark between the octo-mans arms as he prepares a spell to throw at t'Fethic. Another hand reaches for his blaster.

The Temporal Raider walks towards Ben as the blast of electricity flashes across the short distance between them, three bolts strike the Raider and simply vanish. The Raider chuckles as Ben starts to prepare another spell and t'Fethic points his hand at the octo-man. Cade pushes himself upright and throws the light blade across the room with inhuman speed and the blade cuts across the Raiders wrist severing the Raiders hand from arm.

Looking annoyed the Temporal Raider looks at Cade and continues to point at Ben. Compelled and in distress Ben fires the blaster at Cade, hitting him squarely in the chest, knocking him down again.

Bolts of electricity fire out of octo arms and singe Cade. Finally t'Fethic says:

"Enough, don't want to kill him. Everyone needs memories."

The charred looking t'Fethic closes the gap between Raider and Octo Man, grabbing Ben's head one one handedly t'Fethic unleashes a massive blast of necrotic energy vaporizing Ben's head into goo. Stepping back the Raider picks up his hand and reattaches it to his body.

Cade groans and attempts to stand. When he finally does clear his vision he sees the dead Ben and no Raider anymore.

    "I'm so sorry Ben..."

New Issues
  • Cade finishes telling Drake what happened. Drake grunts.

"You sick fanzeran fusstic. With Ben dead, now I have to run the hotel. I have better things to do!"

Drake heads towards the hotel lobby.... A man in modern body armor comes out of the lobby, see's Cantrell and nods at her. He moves to talk to her. "Names Jackshot Marshall." He and about 1000 of the Gloom Defense Force are stationed in Gloom, on the side of the 13th and BC. Not all of the G.D.F. are on your side, however Jackshot and his 1000 are stationed in some nearby caves to the south of Gloom, ready to fight for Gloom's citizens against Giest.

"Things have been crazy while you were gone. Hey, Gargamel! You'll want to hear this too. The surviving G.D.F. members that are with me, well, they are accompanied by a Faeries Army claiming they are friends of a man named Gargamel, and a bunch of Dweamire Automatons, and a few Ley Line Walkers from Stomspire. They all received word that a Vampire horde was descending upon Gloom - using old underground tunnels."

Jackshot says fairly amazed, "We just crossed this chasm and yonder about 300 feet away were 7 heroes and a mighty cat holding the line against a horde 10,000 strong. I have never seen anything like it. How could so few hold off so many? But they did, they held the line strong and resolute. I wish we could have brought them back with us but ... but buy the time we reached them, they had vanquished the horde and rifted out. Away. Don't know where. Glad to see you back here in Gloom Sgt. I have tried to hold thing together until the Legion and Black Company could take over..."

Jackshot sighs... "Listen Sarge. A older guy, said his name was Flint, he came by the hotel and dropped off some intel for us. Old man kinda spooked me. Something scary about him and his no nonsense demeanor. He wanted to talk to you Sarge. Sergeant Cantrell... the guy had two letters with him. Seriously fucking spooky shit. One letter was from the Lord Coake. The other was from a CS intel agent. I have both here for you to look at. When this guy, Flint, couldn't find you, he went after the members of the BC and 13th that went after Scara to help them."
    ...
    Coake Letter
    Image
Additionally, Flint had another letter he left with Jackshot to show Cantrell. Jackshot tells Cantrell that Flint said he received the mostly blacked out copy of the letter because of an old friend in CS Security that he once knew. Apparently the CS got Intel on a issue in Gloom but does not wish to engage in activities in Gloom. Jackshot tells Cantrell that Flint wished to assist her, per Coake, but since she was missing Flint went after the rest to help fight Scara.
    ...
    Letter from CS to Flint
    Image
The intel Flint has provided tells of a bunker under Gloom, where the 13th could steal weapons and armor that the CEALs are wanting to use, also it is an opportunity to blow up the CEAL creation lab! If this lab is destroyed then no more CEALs can be made, unless Scara rebuilds a new lab, but if the 13th and BC that have gone after Scara stop her, no one will be able to re-create the CEALs.

Jackshot salutes Sgt Cantrell, "Unless you need more from me...I need to report back to my troops and prepare for the war on Giest. I left all the intel I have gathered on the lab and bunker in a folder located in the hotel lobby with your name on it. Bye for now."

The process of moving the Hell Pillars into the hotel and down to level 6 where they can be set up and watched over by Drake and the Security of the Hotel takes a good few hours.

Cade is able to flag down a ATV passing by and hitches a ride to teh Gloom General Hospital. He informs you he will meet back up with you all later.

The rest of the Black Company and 13th SET are not here right now. You learn that they are busy, away, fighting Scara. You will have to wait for them to return.

The man named Flint, sent by Lord Coake, seemed to think that the Bunker under the Gloom Zoo is a prime target for attacking.

If you need to do anything now that you are back in Gloom: say so below. If you wish, you can RP/Write a short Interlude about what you are doing now that you are here in Gloom. One RED Bennie to each of you that writes about how you spent the next few days. POST that here in this Thread. I know this is extremely open ended, you can write about almost anything that you do during this time. Try to enjoy it and the super bennie.

More to come ASAP and More details will shortly be provided to Cantrell / Gargamel about the Zoo. Post will be here: http://savagerifts.com/sr/viewtopic.php ... 092#p31007 soon. Thanks!

Note: RED bennies work exactly like normal bennies but also have a bonus of adding 1d6 to the use of it. Example: you use the red bennie to re-roll a Trait roll that might normally be d6.... now you roll that d6 and add a d6 to the result!

Libertas gets to work. First things first--he goes to town on his T-13, attaching a reticulated armor sheath for his newest addition... the work is costly, but by the time he's done, the tail is fully usable and protected, without restricting his movement. As a bonus, by the time he's done, he's also healed his injuries. Which is cool, if a bit nerve-wracking in that even he knows he healed it way faster than it should've.

He also gets a bit of a reputation, unfortunately, among some of the Gloomies. It seems that small trifles disappear whenever he's in the hotel bar. If caught with his tail holding a glass or a pair of spectacles, he always apologizes immediately and returns the item, so there's been no hue and cry for his punishment, but people are learning to keep their distance, just to be sure.

Once all that is done, however, he begins to examine the bone spear more closely. It's a potent weapon, able to lash out with electrical bolts, and also protect from a variety of energy blasts. Unfortunately, he has to report that there's no actual means of 'purifying' the spears--they are made from the souls of the damned, and thus the taint and function are as one. He finishes, "As of yet, I do not know what would happen if the spears were to be destroyed. I think there are three plausible outcomes--the soul is returned to Hell (and thus renewed torments); the soul is freed to go to a better place; and the soul is freed, but being corrupt, remains in this world as a malevolent spirit. Without more information, I cannot in good conscience recommend destroying them at this time. I will continue my investigations, and urge you to perform your own inquiries as well."

Jitters walks through the portal and kneels down on the ground as he removes his helmet, kissing the ground and for the second time in the past month, grateful to have returned to his depressing hometown that was just about thoroughly destroyed. Tears stream down his face from happiness. He got back on his feet and strolled through town, merely going a little less than twice as fast as most other people (when his normal speed is more than three times faster). While the city was destroyed and rebuilt, almost all of the old roads remained the same as it was simply easier to remake an old road than it was to bulldoze and make a whole new road. He moved through the city with his eyes half closed as he drew upon nothing but his memories, five years old they may be (despite the fact that his mom saw him leave her only about two months ago). It wasn't until he almost fell through an old bomb shelter door, catching himself before he fell all the way in, that the city was still recovering from the attack a couple weeks prior. Looking around, he saw that he was only three blocks from his childhood home. The excitement built and he bolted the rest of the way, coming to a stop and skidding the last 250'. Despite being the furthest place of the city from the blast, the buildings here were the most damaged, although none of the damage came from the fight but rather years of neglect and poverty and filled with unwanted outcasts. This was the D-Bee Alienage. On the front steps leading to his old home, a middle-aged woman sat on the front steps, holding a picture and sobbing. Jitters took his helmet off as he slowly approached the woman. "Mom," he called out quietly, getting her attention. The woman looked up and was about to reply when she started to realize who he was. "No,
it can't be. You've only been missing for several weeks now, but you look like you've aged 5 to 10 years! And what did you do to yourself"
his mother says through sobs, realizing just now that he had Mind Over Matter implants in his head.

"While I might have only been gone from here for a couple of months, I've been gone for much longer. The night of the big concert, as I was leaving I got sucked into a temporal anomaly and found myself in a different timeline. I did what I had to to survive, to get back here." His mother collapsed into his arms, crying for several minutes. Eventually, Jitters held her at arms length and said "I need to get you out of town and safe. Get what you can carry and come with me." He informed his mother. After she has all the essentials that she can carry, Jitters escorted her to the Tomorrow Legion Shifter at the hotel, the entire time his mother had to keep saying "Slow down, son! We may be Quick Flex Aliens, but I'm not that fast!" As they walked, Jitters told her that he got a monkey tail in Hell. At the hotel, he found the Shifter taking a rare break from opening portals to and from Castle Refuge and he asked if there was anyway on the next portal to the castle, he could get his mom through as well. The Shifter agreed to do it on the condition that Jitters preforms a favor for him later.

An hour later, as the Shifter was opening another portal to the castle, Jitters hugged his mother tightly and said "You'll be as safe there as you'll ever be. I promise to come by as often as I can to check on you, and so you can rest easy knowing I'm still safe and well."

"Honey, I'm never gong to rest easy knowing the path you have chosen. A mother's prerogative and all that." she replied.

"I know. I've also included a note I want you to give to my commanding officer telling him to have Finance give you a quarter of my pay." When he told his mom that, she fell into him and cried at all that he's done for her. The portal was open with the Shifter staring at them. "Go, mom. He can't hold the portal for much longer." At that, Jitters mom hurried through the portal and then turned around for the last look of her son that she would have for a long time...

Sammy comes out of the hotel's kitchen carrying a plate of bbq'd burgers just in time to hear Cade tell Drake his story. By the end of it The plate has clattered to the ground and the food is just all spoiled. Quick as greased lightning sunshine is in Sammy's hand charged up and ready to go to work. Sammy Seethes at Cade, " I am not sure if that conversation was supposed to be private, but the cats out of the bag so to speak." Sammy levels the gun just right at Cade's head, " you picked the wrong guy Cade. You should have gone with Diamond Clad. I never told anyone that after Carlesbad I was broken up pretty bad. Humble had just about caved my head in two, ripped all my arms off and worse... Its usually the worse part that draws a baited breath. But you already know what was worse don't you?It took me too long to figure that you were there, all twisted and mangled... Holding Humble's leash. I didn't recognize you until that little story.. Sammy twists the chamber of his tw six shooter. Instead of it spinning quickly it uncharacteristicly spins slow as if out of time. " Ben fixed me up after that, more than he'll ever know. You should have waited until I had told him thanks. Oh the chamber, you should know its little ditty by now... The next bullet out is anti time and I am going to put it in your head."

Sammy ticks off the seconds in his head as he watches Cade closely for a twitch of hostile movement. "You look pretty bad Besides killing you sounds like it would be a mercy." A man in the corner hops on the piano playimg a dramatic few bars. Three women upstairs scream and shut their doors. Several people out in the hotel just turn around and go back to their rooms.
Sammy winks at Cade, " Seems like we got our selves a classic standoff friend. I can't pretend to know much about temporal magic, but something just doesn't smell right. When my nose twitches I shoot folks in the head and ask questions of the dead. So what is it going to be Cade, draw, arrest, a cowards teleport out of here? Ben's dead and you are going to pay! Come over here and wrap those lips arround my smoke wagon and I'll end you for good." Sammy barely breathes. Having said his peace he waits for the storm.

Lib, hearing the 'polite discussion', enters the room, clearing his throat. His tail holds the vaguely creepy staff, tip pulsing with green/black/purple light and the haft covered with copper patterns that might be circuits and might be runes and are probably both, so that it looks like it's just hovering and bobbing along behind him. "You know, Sammy, while I get where you're coming from, why don't we just leave it up to Ben? We go to whereever his body got dumped, I do a little mojo, we get him back, and he decides what happens to Cade, here."

He pauses, then adds, "The tricky part about trying to stop future iterations of temporal types is that sometimes you end up doing the thing that make the guy into the thing you're trying to stop from becoming. There's a whole department at the academy in Stormspire dedicated to working out the verb tenses to describe things that you prevented from happening in the first place, or that you caused by trying to stop them. Like, for instance, this t'Fethic horsefucker... kinda sounds like he's some sort of abomination. Maybe you kill Cade here, and Scara wrests him back through some ritual involving pig-sex and stuffing the corpse with goat feces, or whatever, and that's how we get t'Fethic and then he kills Ben, and then Cade tells his story while you're in earshot, and so you kill him, and we just spin right 'round again."

"And really, there's not much these needledick crow-molestors can do that I can't make right again." He gives a cokcy grin. "I really am the best there is at this."

Humble looks at the techno-wizard. While he mostly was talking too fast for Humble to understand most of it. Hearing how Cade is brought back from death makes him wonder why humans do some of the weird stuff they do. "Ugh." Maybe this conversation is not the best one for him.

“Those are definitely on our side. Glad to hear they have arrived." he replied to Jackshot, as he listened to his story.

8 people vs 10000 …. Yeah right Gargamel laughed to himself. Guess this Jackshot was prone to exaggeration.

Presuming that Cantrell shares the intel with Gargamel, who will make noises about it if she doesn’t.
“Fraking Gordon. That bastard Zapper is still alive. Next time, we won’t be so nice as to kick him into Hell.” Only he, Hans and Alecto were left from that fateful encounter in the bar. Gargamel’s rant means nothing to the rest of you, though longer term members of the Legion remember the bartender outside Castle Refuge was Coalition and called Gordon.

Gargamel gathered up what he could find of the Black Company, especially the mages to help Libertas and he with the Hell Pillars. Right now they needed these, but they needed to figure out how to use them first.

He went to discreetly have a word with Drake as he settled in about his other self, but heard the shouting to find Sammy aiming his pistol at Cade.
“What the frak!” Gargamel exclaimed, “I thought it was the 13th who were the trigger happy yahoos. Somebody want to tell me why you are pointing a gun at a member of the Black Company, whom you are supposed to be the liaison for!”

As the situation resolved itself, Gargamel went to speak to Drake.

"Drake, considering what just happened and that I have met another version of you beneath Castle Refuge that identified you as their ID self. What causes Cade to become T'Fethic and can we change it?"

Getting back to Gloom Humble decides he would like to join the gather he saved earlier. Spending some time looking for them he was surprised to see they had set up shop in the hotel itself. Seeking out the giant leader Humble found Shurik-Kull and the rest of the Gather had been accepted and were working in the Pinnacle Hotel as guards.
Humble enjoyed some time spent with them and the infant ogress he had such a strange connection to. Something strange had happened in that swirling eddies of time and somehow this child was his daughter, but he did not remember ever lying with her mother Indrek daughter of Shurik.
But they treated him well and welcomed him into their numbers. Unlike with the humans Humble found his words flowed easily as he was able to share stories of the adventures he had had. The many time he was free and the many times he was enslaved. Looking down at Pia Erelt he could see an alertness and intelligence like that of an elf. This girl would be a great warrior.
A girl blessed with both his strength and the intelligence he was denied he was happy. Perhaps she would not suffer his frequent tragedies.
Unfortunately as it always does time soon ran out and he had need to rejoin the others for the raid on the lab and the defense of the hotel.

Post by Cantrell »

Cantrell steps back into the Pinnacle with some relief -- after the trip to hell and dimension-hopping shortcut that resulted in meeting the 1st SET, Gloom seemed almost normal.

After talking to Jackshot Marshall, she shares the letter from Coake and Flint's intel with Gargamel, then arranges to meet back up later that day to begin planning. Intending to check on the other members of the 13th, she soon found that they were gone, off some mission to Scara's Tower. At loose ends, she decides to head to the training grounds and see how things are going with the Gloom Defense Force.

Marshall seems to have the trainees well in hand. Despite their rough start, the recruits are already shooting better than CS grunts with a year or two of field ops under their belts, and home field advantage here in Gloom ought to work to their benefit. She soon finds herself at the nearby weapons depot, where a dwarf-sized 'Borg with the head of a chihuahua assists the trimador quartermaster in checking over a couple of crates of new weapons.

"Howdy there, Sarge. You have anything to do with this? I don't know where this stuff comes from, but it just keeps showing up. Got a whole trailer of that contraband Naru-nee stuff the Coalition outlawed. Now these here crates, hot off the Wilk's showroom floor," the trimadore says, before remembering his manners and offering a grease-stained hand. "Aw, hell, 'scuse me. I'm Silas, and this here's Thaddeus. He's actually just a dwarf in there -- the chihuahua head ain't his, his brain's in a box in the neck. But Snowflake caught some alien cancer in her bunghole, and he just couldn't bear to lose her so he got a cyber-doc over west in Black Mesa to mount her up top."

Cantrell nods her head and pretends to listen, but her eyes are glued on the shiny black ordnance the 'Borg is hauling out of the crate. She'd been trained on Coalition weaponry, but always appreciated the smooth lines and high quality of Wilk's armaments -- her 457 rifle being a current favorite. When the 'Borg hauls out one of Wilk's new underbarrel grenade launchers, her mouth actually starts watering. The new, 8-shot grenade systems came standard on the 547 "Double-Dealer" rifles, but were designed as a modular accessory that could be mounted on the rest of Wilk's 400- and 500-series longarms.

The trimadore sees her eyeing the underbarrel system and smiles. "Beauty, ain't she. I tell you what, the militia here is getting leaps and bounds better, but it still makes me a little nervous loading them up with explosives ... It wouldn't be the end of the world if I took Thad for a bathroom break and this thing walked off, Sarge."

Cantrell smiles at his wink but shakes her head.

"I couldn't do that, Silas. What kind of example would it would set if officers walked off with anything that caught their eye," she says ruefully.

"Well then, Sarge, how 'bout you trade me for it? I'm short a couple hundred pairs of boots, but don't have the credits to buy 'em. And a rifle or two would do as much good as this thing, with less chance of friendly fire."

Cantrell smiles, then nods. "Let me see what I can do."

After a short trip to her quarters in the Pinnacle, she returns with a credstick, her spare JA-9 and the Triax particle beam pistol she'd grabbed from the Coalition armory when she went AWOL so long ago.

"Oh, that'll do nice," Silas says, passing over the grenade launcher in exchange for the other guns and the credstick. "I know a couple of boys and girls who'll be able to do some damage with these without causing trouble for their buddies.

He nods at the grenade launcher: "You've got a full load of AP grenades in there, but you'll have to scrounge up spares on your own. All I had was what was pre-loaded.

Cantrell shakes his hand in thanks, snapping the underbarrel accessory to her 457 before heading back to the Pinnacle ...

... Where all hell has broken loose, with Sammy drawing down on Cade. For a moment she thinks she ought to intervene ... but it's Cade, after all.

What the hell, shoot him, Sammy. Maybe we can finally be done with all this timey-wimey bullshit.

Then the timey-wimey bullshit really hits the fan.

Snagging that RED Benny.

Max and Bizarro Alex spend a short stretch at anything in the area of Gloom that resembles a bar, taking time to decompress and discuss the massive flux and craziness that has been the trip back through the time rift. Shortly thereafter, they spend time in the Pinnacle triage / med area, talking to Alex Prime. The three of them share a variety of stories about themselves. In particular, Alex Prime and Bizarro Alex spend a great deal of time talking to each other, discovering what few similarities they share, and the strange differences in their beings, not the least of which is their differing ages. BA offers a tidbit. "Alex, let me tell you. Do not fall in with temporal types. I still owe that bastard Cade for what he did. At least you got a cybernetic leg out of the deal. All I got was this eyepatch and terrible depth perception." The three of them share a laugh, which takes AP's mind off the fact that his leg was ripped from his body by one of the many Viggos. Max leaves Alex Prime with instructions to keep an eye on Nadine.

Max and Bizarro Alex return to the Pinnacle lobby just as the blowup with Sammy and Cade gets underway. Max reaches for weaponry, but Bizarro Alex is already there, weapon drawn. "STAND DOWN, cat! Cade is MINE! If anyone is pulling the trigger, it's me. I owe you for the eye, you sonofabitch!" Alex's finger takes up every last bit of slack in the trigger.

Max grabs Alex at the shoulder. "You'll get the shot, Alex. I'll make sure of it. But it sounds like there's some crazy stuff happening. Easy, bud. Easy. Let's sort it out first, THEN we kill Cade. Deal?"

Alex stares his one eye dead into the soul of Cade. "You're mine. Mine. There's a saying maybe you're familiar with. 'An eye for an eye.' The debt is coming due. All the time games in the universe won't spare you from me."

Sammy glances back on his way out of the hotel wondering where everyone suddenly showed up from. He shrugs, his muscles rippling accross his body. Ah well, lets see what else this wacky city has to offer. Ooo something shiny! He bounds away his attention distracted by a pre-rift nickle rolling down the street. Sammy abscently and playful follows it down a long ally. He passes by a couple folks looking for hand outs or a prothetic leg. Finally Sammy corners the errant change. Got you!

From behind him a sickly high pitched voice cloaked in shadow and his features blurred. Calls from behind him, " No cat, I got you!". The small figure steps out of the shadows, he has a suit of power armr on and is weilding a hi tech plasma gun. The suit blows steam as it moves forward.
Sammy seethes, " Elf Grill, I should have known your two-bit needle nose was lurking!"
From behind him something heavy hits Sammy and his lights go out. The goblin known as elf grill pats his unorigionally named plasma rifle and nods to his associate. " Looks like Cat is back on the menu."

A cat in a box? Where the heck is Elf Grill??. Thise were mostly Sammy's thoughts when he came to surrounded by a dark steel cage. Guess these dubs don't realize there is not a cage that can hold me. He can hear a few folks talking.

A squeaky voice calls out " Boss what are we going to do with him?" A gurgled voice responds. The squeaky voice sounds surprise and Sammy sticks his head through the metal cage to see what the comotion was about. Dressed in leathers with dual handed beat sticks was Ailbhe, Sammy's special friend, going to work against the gangsters. Strangly Elf Grill was not in on the action. But another fat goblin was. Sammy seethes under his breath, "Sawbones!". The six goblins and their boss Sawbones fell apart as Ailbhe a warrior woman of skill and good looks cut them down with her beat sticks. Sammy steps out of the cage and goes solid, he gathers his gun sunshine, cloak of dog, and green glowing amulet.
" Woa there Albadorous. Lets let the big fat one live a little longer." Ailbhe grins and slows down, snapping the neck of the last squeaky goblin. The big fat one now missing an arm and a few teeth looks at Sammy and Ailbhe wide eyed.

Sammy spins the cylinder of his smokewagon, a silhoette of sunshine issues forth. " So Sawbones, who sent you and where is Elf Grill." Sammy can feel Ailbhe tremble next to him about to giggle at the name. Hold it together doll, goblins hate laughter as much as cats.

The fat goblin spits blood at Sammy yelling, " I'll never tell you, I got nothing for you Sammuel T. Cat! You hear me I will never tell you!" The goblin's brains go splat against the wall. Sammy hold his smoking gun tight and curses, " Only jude calls me Samual. Besides fatty you told me enough.". Sammy puts the pistol in its holster and purrs close to Ailbhe. " Thanks for the save Anny." She looks at Sammy and bursts out laughing. I know doll, goblins and their names, hehe.
"Well lets get back to the hotel, looks like the gang was about to go rougue on Cade."

Sammy and Ailbhe grab Humble on the way back. Sammy looks in and sees the folks drawing on Cade and a temporal wizard named Fetch. Its like it was going in slow motion, seconds were minutes and such. As soon as Humble rejoined the frey even he was lost in the time distortion. Sammy even sees some kind of kungfu cat duking it out, slow motion kungfu leaps and hand strikes. Meow, it looks like it is even snowing inside the hotel, what is it Cantrell would say? Timey-wimy bullshit.

Ailbhe ticks her head towards the black Harley parked outside. She gives Sammy a look with one eye raised in questioning fashion. Sammy sighs and grins, " Lets ride girl and paint this town red!" Sammy points his sunshine at the door way to the hotel and opens fire with a couple of temporal bullets with no name on it. Guaranteed to end some temporal mother fucker. Sammy whispers in Ailbhe's ear, " Did I ever tell you the time the Legion formed a team made entirely of goblins?" The roar of the hog and plume of dust cackles and crackles against the frame of the hotel and then they are gone!
