Tucked away just a few blocks from the more touristy parts of town is a small run down magic shop. It's about the size of a modern day 7-11 store and when you walk in you're hit with the smell of musty books and ginger. On the left side of the store are a few shelves. Some of them have spell components in neatly labelled glass jars, while others have incense and other various items associated with occult practices. The middle of the store contains a 20 foot long black walnut book case that is almost as tall as the ceiling. It is stuffed with books on each side of it, with volumes ranging from dusty old tomes on summoning various creatures, to books about astrology. The right side of the store has a long glass case, with some of the more expensive spell components, and even a few exotic looking trinkets safely locked up. A bored looking young man with a face full of piercings and tiger striped haire sits on a wooden stool reading a copy of "Hoverycycle Racing". He doesn't even bother looking up when you come in. Behind him is a closed door that says "Staff only".

Streetwise 10, Notice 12/14
Before they go to the Serpent, Lance figures it won't hurt to stop off on the way, asking a few questions about the proprietor, etc. Dog-boys, sadly, are not likely to have dabbled much in magical goods, so he has to deal with 'plain folk' more. Still, he is amiable and, in most folks' minds other than his own, disarmingly comic individual, and thus able to chat people up pretty readily.Once the company arrives at the Gray Serpent, Lance steps into the shop first--he is, of course, of the notion that he is serving as the wizard's protector, which is the proper order of things. He takes a good, close look around the place, also getting a snootful of olfactory details, especially looking for scents similar to some of those he encountered below.
Once sure this isn't an ambush, he motions for the other two to enter, then takes up a watchful position.

Lance pauses at the scent, as as Ulithrax enters with the elf, he takes a moment to use his internal radio, on the team's frequency. "This is Sir Lance, we needeth some further assistance at the Gray Serpent--specifically, someone to hurry over here and maketh certain that any back exit is covered. I believe we will needeth to initiate a confrontation here momentarily. Please signal me when whoever comes is in position." ANd then he waits.

Doc was manning the team comms from the Warehouse. Noting where the others had gone, Doc cues the mic, and in a very digital tone says, "The Doc will meet you there in 20. "
Doc sets the security protocols to active and alert and leaves the Warehouse through an underground access in the distillery portion of the lab. The access is a ladder down thirty feet past an invisible security field rigged to directional plasma grenades. When Doc is acouple hundred yards from the Warehouse he takes anotherladder access into a discrete alley way in another part of Kingsdale. Best that the locals not see my comings and goings with these fine folks that Helga has set me up with.
From the alley way, it is another 10 minutes till Doc is positioned behind the rear exit of the Gray Serpent. Pulling out a piece of oddly carved bone he lets out a silent whistle, three times. As he had not had time coordinate with Lance and others about signals and radio freqs and passcodes, Doc figured that the dog whistle would alert Lance and his timing was spot on to 20 minutes.
Placing his leather duster behind the two holsters strapped to the outside of his thighs, Doc leaned against the wall and waited for someone to exit.

Danny walks into the G.S. barley fitting carrying his arnsenal of weapons tucked and strapped to his armor. Danny uses his gracklepack rifle to help the clerk lower his copy of hoverscylce racing. ” Son that reading shit will rot your brain and turn your soul into jelly. Now is a good time...”. Danny’s voice trails off as the cover slides down unexpectedly revealing something a bit more Tawdry and Grackle. Frack just like Tolkien... last time I pose for those frackers... Just slather your body with oil... Quickest 200k I ever made and paid for my armor. But dammit they keep printing it.

Yup there was Daniel T. Stiker in the flesh as if he had hopped right out of the pages of T$G. Danny looked at the star struck young man with a smile lowing his rifle. Better cash in all my chips now.”Hi, I... We are looking for a man. Maybe smells a bit of grease, good with magic and technology. Maybe able to blend the two. But might dabble in dark things. Think you could help us...” Oh for fracks sake. Where is a clown I could murder... Danny stikes the same exact pose that is on the front of the reaveled mag and says with an uncharistic sweet smile,” Could you help me... Daniel T. Striker?”
Over the comms he grunts, ” Copy that Lance, I am here at the Serp, getting info from the clerk. Just shut your eyes and turn off all recording devices if you are still in the shop... Please.”

Ulithrax needs little provocation to browse the wares of the Gray Serpent. In eons past, the library and inventory within were mere baubles to him. Now, though, there was knowledge that called him and items that drew him in. So when Arvalis relays the need for a delay in action, Ulithrax happily immerses himself in several tomes of knowledge. Arvalis, on the other hand, couldn't care less about the things surrounding him, except what might end up getting pumped into him to extend his life. He walks over to the clerk, about to make an inquiry, when Danny strolls in and begins...Is he trying to seduce the clerk? For not the first time, nor likely the last, Arvalis stands there, mouth agape, at Danny's behavior. He even tries to start asking his questions, but it's quite clear there's something happening here that he isn't going to try to interrupt. He blinks a few times, then about-faces and begins hovering around the opposite side of the room from Ulithrax.
Gorignak simply stands in the corner near Ulithrax, looking around the cramped room that he barely fits into.

The young man looks back to the magazine in disbelief, then back to Danny. The magazine again, Danny again. He starts to blush, and dry swallows. "Oh wow, Dan...Mr. Striker? Is that really you? Wow, I can't believe you're here in Kingsdale! Surely a man of your talents could be anywhere he wanted to be! Is there something little old me could help you with? Uh" he looks down, sheepishly "You know, I like long walks on the beach myself..."

Doc has not drawn his weapons but nods at the red bearded fellow, "Evening Charles. Smoking the usual brand?"
When the man blinks, Doc leans forward from the shadows into the light spilling from the cracked back door. With his left hand he tips the brim of his hat up and leans forward with his own lighter, "May I?" Doc nods to the cigarette that Charles is holding.
While he waits for Charles's responses he puts his left leg on the stairs from the shop and leans forward with his arms crossed on his raised leg, "Been busy with the Ratmen, lately?"

Between Arvilas and Danny the young shopkeep is completely flabbergasted. He keeps dividing his attention between the rapid-fire questions from the City Rat, and the big hunk of Grackle before him. "I I I I don't know what you're talking about... Dean? Is this about Dean? Dean the Ratman?" He sneaks a glance at Danny, blushing just in time for Lance to slip behind him unnoticed. "What about Dean? He's a regular, sure. He isn't in some kind of trouble is he? Grease? Hmm, He was talking to some guy a week or maybe more ago... is that what you're talking about? I never saw the guy before, scary customer if you ask me... I can ask my boss if we have video..." He blushes again "Anything for Danny Striker... I'm a huge fan."
Lance finds himself in a small room with a tiny desk, a bank of surveillance monitors, and a heavy steel safe with arcane markings carved into it. There is a hallway leading out of the room with a door on the right, and a door at the end of the hall. A quick peek around reveals to him that the door on the right of the hallway probably leads outside (he hears a pair of voices) and the door at the end is a small tidy bedroom, with a small bathroom. If Lance tries the safe he can see that it is locked and particularly sturdy (-2 to lockpicking). A successful K/Computers roll will allow you to make a backup of the surveillance tapes, but it will take 1D6 minutes to do so assuming you have a computer on you.
Out in the alleyway, Doc has taken the man thoroughly by surprise. So much so that Doc can tell the man is about to do something, and has the chance to act before he makes his move.

Re: The Gray Serpent
Between the smitten clerk and Charles the shop owner, you eventually get all the pertinent details. They review the footage and you see a man wearing coveralls talking to Dean, the ratman. The clerk, after breaking his gaze from Danny says that while Max isn't a regular customer, he has seen him in here a few times. He mentions that he's a scary kind of person, and that the sooner he leaves the better. He didn't know him to be especially close to Dean and as far as he knows that encounter was the only time they talked to each other in the store. Charles seems to be a bit more knowledgable. Ulithrax can see that he is glowing with potential psychic energy, and is most certainly a magic user. According to Charles the man in coveralls is named Max, and he's a techno-wizard. He used to be a regular but in the past year or so he hasn't come around as much. In fact, he's become rather sullen and doesn't even have the old friends anymore. The most recent time Charles saw Max was a week ago, in a bar called the Laughing Skeleton. According to Charles, The Laughing Skeleton is a rough place, frequented by Juicers and Juicer wannabees. He gives you the name of a friend he has there, Waylon, a D'Norr who can probably show you the way around. He says Waylon is always seated at the bar and would be a good source of info in general as he seems to be tied into the ins and outs of the magical society in Kingsdale. Finally, Charles, being a small business owner, offers the crew a generous discount of 20 percent of any and all items. He essentially only has things from the TLPG, but he can outsource a custom item though it would take some time. As the party is about to leave the clerk musters up his courage and again offers Danny an oil massage. This time when he says that it will end happily, he gives an over exaggerated wink and can't help but sneak a glance at Danny's tail.

Lance turns to the others. "We should radio in our progress, then proceedeth to this 'Laughing Skeleton' at once, I think. This Max may be under some sort of duress--in which case, a friendly hand might let him see a way out of it."Lance

Ulithrax nods at Charles. "Thank you for the information. We shall put it to good use. And I shall return. There are things here I would purchase when I have more time." He turns and walks out, nodding at Lance as he passes. Gorignak follows closely behind, having left a small patch of mud by the video room.
Arvalis shakes his head. "Maybe he's being pushed, or maybe he's cracked. No friends? I bet some gizmo he was workin' on shorted the rest of his brain. Whatever. We'll figure it out." He gives the side eye to the clerk and his obsession with Danny, shudders, and follows Ulithrax and Gorignak out the door. "Laughing Skeleton sounds like my kinda place."

"Information is being uploaded to the warehouse database as we speak. I can program a relay message to those not with us at the moment. And also seek a status update. I am however uncertain of the encryption in the comunications. I was unable to check that before we left the Warehouse."
"Charles, we appreciate your assistance. Martha, your wife, she is doing well? Please let her know I said hello. You have my number should you need me."
A conversation among D'Norr should be interesting.

Danny gives the clerk one last pose he will never forget.
Danny sighs letting some of his anger go. He pats the kid on the head half joking, ” Best get out of this shop before he sacrifices you to the latest Cuthulu cult.” The grackle signs the copy of the picture the kid has and follows the others out.
Just before hitting the door Danny looks dead straight at Charles, ” This one time back in Tolkeen I used to assist General Victoria Geist in capturing some of the worst deserters imaginable. It was fun for me though, I would get all chumnmy with them, maybe find them at their home or place of business and look arround finding out what made them tick. Then I sort of let them go like a cat playing with a mouse. It was just more of challenge to let them go so I could hunt them.” Danny pats his mighty gracklepack while his tail opens the door. It was fun chasing them down and then blowing a 10 inch hole in their head. Good times huh? See you later Charles.”
Outside Danny deposits a few creds at one of those nearby ride share bikes that yuppie towns like Kingsdale are prone to have. He brings up a city map in his armors hud and asks Pornhub to locate and provide sultry directions to the Juicer hangout.

”Thanks for the offer kid, there will be time enough for play once we stop these...” Danny’s voice trails off and his eyes narrow. Man, I have been telling this jacker about folks blowing up Kingsdale, some real mean folks... Now he and his boss tell us to chase some errant no nothing lead. We are getting close, real close. Fuck this shop, time to play it cool.Danny sighs letting some of his anger go.
