Guilty as Charged

Post by Gravely »

There was trouble ahead for his family.

Yes, Gravely thought, His Family. Rhonda, Daron, and himself, Frank.

Rhonda and Frank were always meant to be together, but Frank had been worried. Fearful really. He knew what lay ahead of him but he wanted to shield Rhonda from the horrors. That is how he understood his love for her and the sacrifices he would make for her. Being a fool, he never told her any of it, or gave her choice in the matter.

Sadly Frank had compounded tragedy and grief for Rhonda hen she realized she was pregnant with Daron. And Rhonda had come to him and told him the child was most definetly his as she had never been with anyone else, including Justin his brother. Frank had cursed himself and made very rapid and quick arrangements to move, the then pregnant Rhonda, out to Texas to be near his own mother, whome he had relocated years prior.

Keeping people safe was what Frank had been trying to do his entire life. Yet the tallies and tolls told a diferent story in his mind. He lived and others died. He had not saved anyone. His guilt was heavy and his grief was deep.

His thoughts snapped back to Rhonda. Damn that woman is infectious. Frank needed to place the facts before her. Give her the information and allow her to make her own choices. Maybe after the truth or at least what part of the truth Frank knew had been shared Rhonda could make some choices of her own. Frank wondered if they could ever mend things to where they could have a healthy relationship?

Through some of her actions, Frank knew Rhonda still cared for him. Like her efforts to find out details on Justin. Rhonda knew Frank was busy and that he was constantly traveling and unreachable at best. She had taken it upon herself to do some sluething and dive into the hidden truths. Justin was Frank's only sibling and Rhonda knew that Frank had much deeper concerns for Justin than almost anyone else, even former team members.

Daron. Daron was another story.

Daron had taken well to Frank being in his life. Frank was not sure who had put the idea of Frank being his uncle into Daron's mind, but Frank had accepted it.

Daron also had a real knack or talent for imagination and playing. As a gift one year, Frank had delivered a sizeable box of his own mint packaging collectibles. Rhonda had looked at Frank strangely, she knew about his collections. The toys were roughly thirty years old on average.

Daron carefully removed each toy and filled the entire coffee table. Tranformers. He-Man. GI Joe. There were even a couple of mint packaged Barbies that bore a strinking resemblance to Rhonda. That had gotten Frank a nudge in the ribs from Rhonda to which Frank had given a full smile with a twinkle in his eye.

Frank had told Rhonda that toys were meant to be played with and admired and loved by the children who played and owned them. Daron was certainly one of those kids. Rhonda had told him then and there that it would be Frank's responsibility to let Daron know who his father was, she would not do it for Frank.
