A Remorseless Change

With SWADE coming I am excited to migrate.

I would like to remake the characters with TLPG SWADE play test 4 after it is released.

But I am only wanting to do this will 100% agreement from everyone.

Conversion Guideline will be as follows:
  • Rebuild from ground up.
  • Everyone (except sidekicks) get 3 extra HJ rolls. Any HJ rolls used for gear in previous build will still be used for gear.
  • Side Kicks get no bonus HJ rolls and 1/2 the earned advances of a PC.
  • Your gear list will remain the same for consistency. However the stats will be updated to the SWADE equivalent.
  • Your XP will round up to the nearest 5 points and become Advances (Example if you have 21 XP, then you have 5 advances).
Is there anything I am missing. Do you want to go forward with this?

This will also eliminate site rules. I will be keeping my universal free Common Bond table rules though.

We will only convert with 100% agreement. I am not willing to leave anyone behind. (Well maybe VV, we might leave him on an asteroid.)

Was asked in hangout about F&G rolls for MARS.

There will be no change. Just whatever comes out in the wash from the playtest.

The extra HJ rolls are because we are hunting the biggest meanest things in the three galaxies and you will need to rolls to stay alive long enough to pay for the tools you use.

What do you mean by "This will also eliminate site rules."?

My plan is to stop using as many site edges and stuff as possible to be a SWADE as possible until they are reviewed again with SWADE in mind. If you are worried about the SPC2 build I think you are good as the only change we are thinking of is reducing starting HJ rolls to 2.

That was my concern.

Okay, looks like Version 4 was released and I think we should all start working on rewrites.

Then let us know here you are ready for SWADE review.

Note: The following two house rules will be used for now until the final version is released.

1) No matter what, Even by stacking innate abilities with the free action attacks in the spells no one will be allowed more than 4 actions in one post.

2) Strength after d12 will double per step. I am not buying into the idea of dragon who cannot lift their heads as being genre appropriate.

All good.

Sa'Maku is updated.

One thing of note in v4: MARS get 3 HJ rolls so do they get bumped to 4 under your rules or is it just 3 across the board?

So you would have a total of 6 HJ rolls.

Heck if you built him as a retrapped Dragon you would get 4 HJ rolls. Which would be impressive to say the least.

Remember this is the power team. You are hunting the biggest baddest baddies out there so those rolls will be handy dandy.

Oh crap, I just realized Death Otter loses 20 xp if she's not MARS anymore, LOL...

Okay! Uh. Okay. Wow.

That changes things. Must make some painful decisions.

Question! You said that HJ rolls used for gear will still be used for gear.

Does that include HJ rolls from the Rich and Filthy Rich edges that are taken as normal edges?

Also, while I'm at it, are the Hacking and Electronics skills eligible for the Scholar Edge?

Yes it does. This is what allows us to keep the gear we already have and not have to start from scratch. The only other way to do it would be to design compactly from the ground up even our gear.

I suppose if a player wanted I would allow them to complacently start from scratch with none of their current gear, so they are not locked down.

No.

I'm having to rebuild most of Otter's gear from scratch regardless :)

But it's all good, I can roll with it. And given that we just got a big cash dump, I think it is fair not to let us use that to re-buy our old gear, and save the edges we originally used to do it with, hehe.
