Leethe's Signature Item: Metal Tear.

Concept

The Metal Tear is an item of super science. It is a device used to convert organic life into machine. The effects are not permanent, as it can also reverse the effect on the converted being.

Use the NG Peacekeeper armor as a base. The armor has two modes, one very light (+4 armor, no Min Str), the other heavier, representing additional armor plates being added.

As an example, that's what I did here, with Penitent's snakeskin armor.

Instead of adding plates, Penitent's armor 'grows' scales, which takes the same amount of time. If you wanted the change to be more immediate, you could add a Minor Mod (to do it in, say, 1 round) or a Major Mod (to do it as a free action, more or less equal to Quick Draw).

Also note, the TW Combat Mage Armor isn't +3 Armor as base, it's +7 armor that drops by 1/2 (to +3) when unpowered, which is a quality of all TW armor (see the sidebar on p. 76 of the TLPG).

Okay, two things:

1) Activating TW armor is a free action, so you don't need to spend a minor mod to reduce activation time if you're just starting with the NG Maverick and adding abilities to it. When I talked about reducing the time to switch to the "heavier" version, I was referring just to the NG Peacekeeper; if you're using the Maverick, you don't have to worry about that.

2) "Trappings" get confusing, because we tend to use the word to refer to the physical description of an item and how it works/looks, and the refer to mechanical Trappings, like those on p. 106 of Savage Worlds Deluxe. Descriptive trappings are just fluff -- they don't cost you a slot. Mechanical Trappings are what you pay for, with a Minor Mod granting you one of the mechanical benefits from SWD (so, for example, you could add the "Fire/Heat - Armor Piercing" Trapping to a sword to get a +2 AP).

So, starting with the NG Maverick armor, you can trap it to look like a swimsuit (weight, stats, cost, etc all remain the same) for free. You pay the base TW conversion cost, and like all TW armor it will cost 1 PP/hour to operate and can be activated as a free action. For slots, you'd have:

Okay, so I think I understand the argument here.
  1. She wears the armor in its dormant state looking like "normal clothes".
  2. When she powers it, that triggers the transformation into "magic girl" state.
Is that the reasoning? If so that is a workable way to bypass the 1d6 turns to change without wasting the major mod. But it would limit the variety of normal clothes as it would always need t include this.

Start with Urban Warrior Tactical Armor as the base item: +5 Armor, +1 Toughness, FEP, Str Min d6, 11 lbs. Retrap it as a sealed bodysuit.
Base cost: 35,000 cr

We'll do this as a TW item. Like all TW armor, when unpowered it loses all special properties and halves Toughness and Armor bonuses. So unpowered, it offers only +2 Armor.
Conversion cost: 3,500 cr
PP cost to operate: 1/hour

Minor: +2 Armor (5k)
Minor: Add a trapping: Illusion-Aesthetics, allowing the armor to change appearance at will (5k)

Major: +1d Strength (10k)
Major: +1d Vigor (10k)
Major: +1d Vigor (10k)
Major: Add fly power (60k)

Total cost: 138,500 cr

End result: FEP armor that weighs 11 lbs, Str Min 1d6 that when unpowered adds +2 Armor. When powered (1 PP/hour) it can look like whatever you want, is +7 Armor, +1 Toughness, +1d Str, +2d Vigor (which also boosts Toughness) and allows to spend additional PP to fly.

debating on how to rework this item still.

One possible option is to make it into the Silver Tear, a super tech item that transforms her into a construct. My current issues is figure what else to add to this for powers. It is something from her background, though it may not be fully detailed.

The other option is to make it into an TW item that gives her the Armor power and the Warrior's Gift Power and has a PPE charge and something else. This item would be a pendant.
