Background

Awinita -- called Nita by the white man -- was the daughter of a simple farmer on the Cherokee reservation when the metal men came. The robots wiped out her village. She and her family escaped, her father severely injured, out into the wilderness. Nita was forced to become the provider for the family, learning from her father how to hunt and track and the ways of the wilderness. When Nita heard that the white man offered money for killing the metal men, she headed for the white man’s settlement to earn her Tesla star.
