Background: Bot Masterson, that gear-bound curse on our family name, is finally going to pay. Charlotte flexes her hands, which are calloused and carry some scars from her work, itching for a stick of dynamite. It's the whole reason we're out here.

She keeps a watch on the jail from her hiding place, waiting for night to fall more fully, as glee and terror war within her. A runaway, she came out to this little backwater chasing the only family that understood her: her mean cuss of a grandfather (great-grandfather, really), who had gone and got himself captured. Again. For a world-class duelist, he sure did find himself behind bars often enough.

She had her grandmother's gift for work with her hands, but after Bot Masterson, Charlotte didn't want to spend her life building. Building is what got them into this mess. Instead, she taught herself to read and spent her time learning about chemical reactions and blast radii, thinking maybe she could blast her family's way out of their no-good legacy. That seemed more or less what Grandpa was doing, in any case.

When the sun finally drops behind the horizon, she creeps out from her hiding place, gives the signal to Grandpa inside, and lights the fuse she'd carefully buried earlier. That should take the bars clean off the window, she thinks with satisfaction as she watches the fuse burn and waits for the boom. And then, we're gonna finish off that damned bot.
