Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Ops Centre
After the group finishes their preparations, which vary from arts and crafts to exorcism, they focus again on the task at hand. First Cory, Qooat, and Mayeena, works to isolate any additional sounds on the audio recording. What they manage to find is unsettling, there is weapons fire - perhaps and exchange between the security group and another group. Then all the groups start screaming, there are some animalistic noises then finally, when Qooat cranks the volume the sound of crunching bones.
Once playback of the sweetened audio is finished Turk gives the best map they have, and it's ain't much.
"We have an external map of the area surrounding the building but it's sketchy. The power plant entrance is highlighted in green, but it goes deeper underground. The entry level is just old offices and stuff. The team was searching for the feds down in the lower levels. We have no idea what to expect down there."

Sir Sayeen cocks an eye at the sound of the animal noise. Terrifying, absolutely appalling... A predator perhaps... I would assume the low levels would not lend themselves to something huge like Merlaggon... But you never know...Venatus Vinco wrote:Ops Centre

Sir Sayeen looks to Fell and nods. Few people I would follow into the unknown, but he is one of them. Sir Sayeen quietly unwraps the gift Fell had given to him. He smiles and chuckles a bit. Gale elects not to hear the cyborg's remarks about his ability to keep time as he heads to the transport. If Timothy felt the need to be pedantic then it only exemplified his ignorance of the value of what had just been accomplished. Luckily his combat ability made up for his uncongenial tendencies.
Gale examines the map and considers the situation. Open skies or cramped spaces make no difference. What I lack in ground speed I more than make up for with psionic ability and martial skill, though in this group I may end up in more of a support role. We do have some heavy hitters. Good thing I'm equally skilled no matter what we're doing...

Timothy listens to the audio and looks over the map. Timothy is looking for vantage points and choke points. A copy of the map is created and an overlay is displayed for Timothy, along with notations by him. Once the map is completed, Timothy will transmit it to Fell and Qoat. "I recommend we use the cars for cover as we approach the power plant. We need to be sure the building to the right is clear and we also need to ensure we keep our fire lines clear. Splitting up into two groups might be the best bet. The lay line is a double edge sword. Our team will be able to use it, as well as our enemies, whatever they are."

(I will add dice later, but I needed to get in on the conversation!)
Cory studies the map. She subconsciously nods as the others discuss the plan. She agrees about both the cars as cover and the ley line.
"The power of the ley is totally a double edged sword. If we approach the buliding along it, like, we can totally charge up on it. That bonus power doesn't just go away, you know, so we don't have to stay on it. Oh, and like that new armor can totally teleport."
She shifts a little bit after saying that. Kind of like admitting something personal.
"But, like if I catch a ride, that means I could be back on the ground without him, like, you know landing."

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
"All good points! So, first point of business is we want to get to the Ley Line for a refuel for our party members. Second point of business is to access an entry point to the Power Plant, represented by Green. Along the way we utilize Cover and Concealment by hugging walls, using cars, and we stay in one team following one path around from the South East ... the Ley Line ... to the North East Entry Point."
Fell Pulls out a ratty looking plastic box and squats down with a piece of chalk. Drawing on the floor he continues.
"Here is an overview of the Sections. Outside, A and B. C is the unknown portion of the Power Plant not shown on the map. So while we are inside if we get separated, and lets avoid that please, you know how to tell the others where you are if you say I'm in section A."
Wiping away his drawing the Juicer sketches out a crude new one.
"This represents our Path of Entry to the Power Plant. Staying in single file, about 20 feet between each of us, we advance from the South East - at the Ley - to the Plant staying hidden and low. Once we get to the street that parallels the Plant we will divide into two teams as we approach. Team 1 and Team 2. One on either side of the street as we head for an entrance. Team assignments in a moment."
Fell glances up at the others.
"Okay once we make it to the street the two teams will make their ways down the street to preferred entry point 1. Points 2 to 3 are fall back entry points if we encounter hostiles. Our objective is to get in. If we do so from Point 1 we can sweep the entire building from a corner. Going in 2, 3 or 4 means we don't know whats clear behind us. Here look."
A new chalk drawing is sketched.
"Team 1: Fell, Sayeen, Qoat, Sinder. Team 2: Timothy, Merl, Gale, Cory. Until we go inside, then we are all one team again."
"So making our way down the street Team 1 pays attention to stuff on the north side, look in holes in the walls but stay outside with team. Team 2 is doing same to building on south side of street. Look and go. Stay close to walls. Use the car for cover and hopefully we go in at Point 1. If so we search Sections A throu C until we find ... what ever we find. We go floor by floor, headed down first then back up. Simple!! Sound okay? I'm open to ideas. Questions?"
Standing back up the Juicer puts his chalk away and looks around at the others.
"The only other thing is; if we fall under heavy fire and have to retreat, or when we are done if we end up separated, we need a Staging Point. Somewhere several blocks away. Outside the ruins even. A safe fall back point. We can located it on our way in."

"Good. Yes. Okay. Let's incorporate that. Three teams. Other thoughts? I for one expect the worst to happen. I expect to be attacked on the way in. If we are attacked the North East corner seems like a good point to take cover and fight back. A lot of this will be on the fly. "

Timothy is listening to everybody questions and suggestions.
"Wouldn't it make sense to have the north side cover the south side and vise versa? That way each side would have clear unobstructed view? We also don't want to walk in front of cars when we are at points 1 and 2. Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Fell tries to remember he is not on a tactical combat team anymore. Everyone here is unique and very diffident in their powers and abilities. We've been in combat before, we did fine.
"Come to think of it...With Merl, Tim, Cory, and Gale all airborne, if you follow the pink line of chalk to the open front door, and the rest of us take the red route, under you, we should be fine."
"One, swing by Line for power. Two direct route to front door. Just be careful and expect an ambush."
I suppose I should stop drawing on the floor. I don't have an eraser. Awe Hell its chalk not a marker....

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Sir Sayeen watches Fell mark out their tactical plan using the most appropriate tool available: Chalk... He chuckles slightly. This reminds me of when my pappy illustrated a battle plan using his own blood... The circumstances were much more grim then... He checks the external map Turk provided with Fell's drawing.
Under his breath he says to himself, " Ok we have cars a few building, the flyers heading directly there, the rest of us a bit more circuitous..."
Action Kn: Battle to identify choke points, and other possible area's of a likely ambush.
Kn: Battle [dice]0[/dice]
Wild [dice]1[/dice]
explode [dice]2[/dice]
He grabs some of the paint Merlaggon and Cory had been using. He dips his dips a brush in it, and marks a few places on the map. He looks it over one last time with a nod. " Those would be some natural choke points, and area's I would expect an ambush... But whatever you do, do not under any circumstance-" He stops suddenly holding the paint brush close to his face, a wide grin spread across his face! He eyes Timothy and the paint brush... Hmm, promises are promises are they not borg? Perhaps when we come back I can get you the signature you so deserve...
Merlaggon do you mind if I hang onto this brush and a small amount of paint, I might have a use for it... As long as you are all done with it.
(( Assuming Merlaggon is willing to part with it and some paint he stows it with his gear.))

The strategy session is a new thing for Cory. When she has worked with groups in the past, she's been the only really powerful one, the others farmers or townsfolk in need of aid. Or she was just running from the Federation or the Coalition. Sitting her planning it all out makes her pause and think. And also, as she's coming to realize more and more often, that Fell knows what he's doing and seems to be a good leader. But...
She is quiet, not in a sullen silence, but focused and attentive. She's relieved when team 3 gets established. Flying in on a dragon seems a lot safer than trudging in on foot. Being able to stay near the ley line on approach will also make a big difference. She's naively excited to see how her new amor performs, though she makes sure to carefully stow the mage armor in the back of the Q-mobile. No one else can wear it.
Trying to sound like she knows what she's talking about, Cory asks, "Are we staying in the teams once inside? You know."
She fidgets, thinking that she may have missed the answer, not paying attention to the talking when she was studying the drawings.
Actually, Cory is very intimidated by this exercise. She has little to add and that makes her feel useless. Inside she battles between getting angry or retreating into detachment. Even Merl seems to have a better grasp of the situation.

Sir Sayeen nods thanking the large dragon for the paint and brush. Sir Sayeen frowns perhaps sensing Merlaggon's hesitation or lack of confidance. He pats the draggon gently and smiles.Merlaggon wrote:
"Once we are inside, I don't know if I will be able to fit in my natural form. If not, I will not be of as much use."
" I must admit I do not see you much in your shifted form. My pappy always used to tell me there is more to it, than brute strength and strong armor. I would suspect this would be true of dragons. Perhaps you have other abilities that you can use creativly in close quarters? You are also never without courage and wit, both can be useful no matter the situation...". He carefully looks at Merlaggon and bows deeply and calls Timothy over. " If it would please you I am sure Timothy and myself could look over your alternate self and give you some pointers." Sir Sayeen grins wide and laughs a bit to himself, " Have you considered giving this other form a name of sorts? It is combersome to say alternate or shifted... Perhaps Stomper would be appropriate."
Sir Sayeen looks at her carefully. She seems a bit nervous. With care he supports her idea, . Good point Cory, no sense on being split if we can help it. Fell dusts his hands off, puts his chalk away, mutters aloud, "Well in the end just try to stay somewhat close to each other on our approach to the Power Plant. In case we are attacked - we can defend each other. You all know what you are doing. The area is likely going to have CS patrols and maybe Federation enemies in the plant, not to mention whatever has recently leaked out of the Ley Line. So stay alert. I will meet you in the Q-Mobile Qoat."
Turning the Juicer walks past Cory towards the ATV.
Scrunching up his face the Juicer looks like he is about to say one thing to her then chooses another thing to say:
"Have fun flying."
Fell coughs.
"Sayeen we can call marching orders once there. Situational. I hope we all stay together inside. I want to go first but will have to arm wrestle Tim for it likely. We'll see."
Smiling at the Knight Fell heads for the ATV.

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Old Chicago
A mere 80 miles north east of the mighty fortress city of Chi-Town the ruins of Old Chicago sprawl along the shores of Lake Michigan. The ruins are a hot bed of supernatural activity. Dozens of ley lines crisscross the area, forming a nexus point in the downtown core. The ruins make an ironic, and tragic, neighbor for the capital of a nation that despises the supernatural and loathes magic. The cityscape is a crumbled skeleton of its former self, continuously bathed in pale blue light from the ley lines.
Within the ruins conflict is constant. Random rift activity brings a steady influx of supernatural creatures and d-bees into the area. Coalition patrols constantly monitor the rubble but can’t stem the tide completely. Meanwhile, agents of the Federation of Magic use the ruins as a staging ground for attacks against the heart of the Coalition States. And this is where the 1st SET is going!
Hammond only sits a few miles from what used to be the South Side of Chicago, moving through the ruins is slow - even with a heavy all terrain vehicle - but for the most part uneventful. However, all magic and psionic team members can feel the immense power of the network of ley lines moving throughout the ruin.
Power Plant Ruins
Skeletons of a bygone era litter the area. Decrepit cars, rubble, and old buildings surround what was once a parking lot. Anything of value has long been pilfered by scrap metal scavengers. A large ley line runs northwest, washing the lot in blue light. The power plant entrance marks the northern boundary of the area. The team is approaching from the southeast (bottom right of map).
As they approach the group can hear the sounds of a firefight! Coalition troops are in a vicious firefight with another, perhaps magical, force each group using cars and old buildings as cover. The fight is blocking the power plant entrance. Getting to it involves getting around (or fighting through) the battle. For now, the 1st SET seems to be unnoticed as the forces are preoccupied with each other.

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Sir Sayeen looks out over the battle field and shakes his head. So much bloodshed. Its not that we should all get along, there is just so much more we could accomplish if we work together... He hunkers down next to Fell. " I feel like I should warn you, I am about to act my conscience... If successful there may be a lull in the fighting in which you and the others can gain entrance..." Sir Sayeen chuckles, " If you could see to it that Merlaggon is in his conspicuous form that may play out the best." Sir Sayeen leans over the hood of the junked vehicle trying to get a better look. Just as I thought, Firefox Frank, and Dazzle the sorcerer supreme. Sir Sayeen laughs to himself sort of snorting. Dazzle... Not her real name, Shyala I think it is, but she likes Dazzle...
Sir Sayeen stands up and over the radio with great conviction he tells the team, " I got this!"
He grits his teeth and walks out to the middle of the Firefight!!!
Action: Peace Card To get a temporary ceasefire, enough time to let the 1st into the power plant

" I know both of you, Dazzle the sorcerer supreme, and Captain Firefox!!! And you know me!!! He twirls the maul high overhead, and continues with a booming voice. " I would not come forth to such a place in such a manner if my need was not great. A moment of ceasefire is all I ask. Come forth and parley with me!!! Listen to my words, for they concern you both!!!
((Assuming he can get an audience with the leaders))
In a more measured and less thunderous voice he greats them both. In a grim tone he sets forth trying to hold the peace. " There is something unleashed beneath this power plant. Will you not let us pass, there maybe an injured security team that needs rescuing as well... I wish no quarrel with either of you. Strapped in tight to the back of the friendly dragon, Cory feels a little helpless, but also flushed with the joy of soaring through the air, the beating of Merl's wings and her cloak flapping in the wind. It's magical. She wishes she could take the helmet off and feel the air herself. It doesn't occur to her that they might all die in this rescue attempt, so she is counting on a flight where she isn't concealed in heavy armor.
Airborne she has a pretty good view of what's going on as they approach. Cory curses, why does this need to be harder? She is comforted some by the presence of the ley line, the power coursing through her reinforces her connection with Sun and Moon, though this is primarily Sun's domain. She feels Sun's power ready to unleash on the enemies of life. But down below, which is which?
"Merl! What is Sayeen doing??" Cory says to the dragon in shock. She'd ask Fell, but she's hesitant to put out too much radio traffic when their trying to be stealthy. Or maybe she just is thinking that because she just doesn't want to talk the team leader.
She watches in horror as the old knight approaches the center of the fighting. "He really is the most noble person I have ever met. He's crazy, but he holds true to his convictions. I just hope it doesn't get him killed."

Fell watches out the front window of the ATV as he opens the right passenger door, preparing to step outside. Coalition and Federation goons, great.
Being cooped up inside the ATV when Action is possible doesn’t sit well with his chemical burn starting to boil.
When Sir Sayeen hunkers down next to Fell the Juicer pauses and listens to the knight. Fell thinks: I am about to act my conscience….what in the holy hells does that mean? Oh crap! By Proseks Balls what in the…!
As Sir Sayeen stands up and tells the team over the radio, "I got this!" Fell flips his biocomp system to MAX JUICE.
Across the radio Fell yells, ”Merl get down! Change into a human form NOW! Cory, Merl, whoever, get over by the wall of the adjacent ruins wall. Take cover and stay PEACEful! Everyone else take cover and prepare to cover Sir Sayeen the insanely brave! Hold fire until we see how this goes! MOTHER OF GOD Sayeen I’ll kill you if you get dead from this!”
Fell rolls out of the ATV door and follows Sir Sayeen. Keeping his hands up, in the universal I give up fashion, the Juicer leaves his weapons across his back and keeps his hands up, keeping about 15 feet off the rear of Sayeen.
Hands up means, he keeps his hands near the handle of his Great ChainSaw. It'll just be a split second to grab the handle of his Mighty Fellblade and leap into action.
His eyes flirt about rapidly taking in the CS and Feds. (((Notice = 11)))
Sayeen my man, noble Knight, I was just day dreaming about detox and becoming a Cyber Knight, hell no. I'll take the Burn over this! I admire you but I could never be this...noble. By Tarn, let this work. Hmmm, I was also day dreaming about a certain some one in a gold bikini, focus Fell!

Sinder plans on Staying in the Vehicle.
Sinder sees the two parties fight. One is CS and the other Feds. Sinder shakes his head a bit. “Boy this is great my group going to be in the middle of a show down. I wonder which one is going to win. We should just back up and wait.”
Then Sinder sees Uncle Sayeen get out, “Uncle Sayeen what?” “Gee he is a true hero, a diplomat. Hmm I need to just stay back, can’t have CS recognize me keep the mask on. Oh, Flaming Piles of Crapola, Fell went out too.”
Sinders thinks out loud, the worst case is they, “So the worst case is they open up on the two. I need to pick a car, I’ll have to set it off and make a lot of smoke to cover for them. Don’t want to, it will take energy away for me, energy I might need later.”
“I hope Uncle Sayeen can get them to be reasonable.”

Cory's shock is quickly replaced by action. "Merlaggon! We need to take cover! Let's listen to Fell and hope the old man can peacefully solve this conflict. That would be amazing. I still think we should be prepared for the worst."
If Merlaggon lands per Fell's "recommendation", Cory will take cover by the corner of the building. She will be ready to dash into action if she's needed. If she's too far, she'll run into range before casting a spell.

If Merlaggon lands per Fell's "recommendation", Cory will take cover by the corner of the building. She will be ready to dash into action if she's needed. If she's too far, she'll run into range before casting a spell.

Merlaggon doesn't know what the strange magical beasts the Federation of Magic are fielding, but those 2 big ones look scary. Merlaggon lands at the SE corner of the SE most building (where Fell "recommended") and change into his human form. He will be keeping an eye out for any danger from the Federation, the Coalition, or anything else around here. He will be keeping quiet and watching. If he is needed for action, he will revert to his natural form and mantle around Cory to give her some cover as they further react to the need.
((OOC: We will be landing about 14 squares from the Ley Line - in range of Cory drawing power from it.))

At the sound of combat, Qoat slows the Q-mobile down, he looks for a place to conceal the Q-Mobile from the two groups. He pauses for a second as he hears the cyberknight say he's got this. "You're going to do what?" No plan survives the battle," Then as Fell hops out a blur of motion, Qoat thinks about what he's going to say to the brass back at the Refuge. The old man and our fearless leader decided peace was the path to victory. No I didn't follow them, I am pretty awesome, but I've seen what CS weapons can do close up.

Planning
After the excitement with Sayeen Gale takes some time to gather himself. That was fun, too bad the others couldn't see how awesome I was...
He stays quiet through the planning session, happy to be part of the aerial division of the team and leave the planning to the military types. It seems like a good plan. It will never last, but it seems like a good plan. When the plan fails I'll get back to doing what I do best. Winning.

When the command comes through to stay concealed while Sayeen charges in Gale looks for an unoccupied rooftop to observe from. He'll approach from the opposite side of the building, land, and peer over the nearest edge, ready to assist the cyber knight if necessary.

It didn't register at first. Cory only realizes belatedly that Fell has exited the Q-mobile and is heading towards the battle with Sayeen. She still has many preconceptions about her teammates. She is surprised. Whats next? Timothy will be handing out flowers to children?

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
As the approach the power plant, the group comes across a raging firefight between two forces, the Coalition and what appears to be the Federation of Magic. Prudently, Fell gives the order to wait and assess.
"Hold. Hide. Look there, a spot to hide, in the ley line behind those other junk cars."
Of course, the 1st Special Exploratory Group was never much for prudence.
Sir Sayeen stands up and over the radio with great conviction he tells the team, " I got this!"
He grits his teeth and walks out to the middle of the firefight
Propelled by his faith and will the old knight moves through the pitched battle with ridiculous speed. Stray laser blasts seem to bend and arc around him as he looks like a mad man dodging raindrops in a monsoon - and succeeding.
His actions seems to sow confusion at first, the CS assume he must be another magic user but the Federation has no idea what to think. Nearby the rest of the SET watches with a mix of horror and amazement. Not to be outdone in rash movements Fell charges after the cyberknight bobbing and weaving between cars and avoid all sorts of indirect fire.
While the two madmen/heroes plow into the jaws of death, the rest of the SET make sure to get good seats. Perching on a nearby rooftop Gale surveys the scene, he notices that as Sayeen and Fell reach the middle of the battle that the rate of fire seems to be slacking off as both sides become confused. The eagled eyes Lyn-Siral spots what he assumes to be the CS commander shouting furiously into a radio just inside one of the westernmost buildings. Likewise Timothy is able to identify the commander of the Federation forces and takes a bead on him with the JA-11.
Setting down out of sight, Merlaggon transforms into his less conspicuous human form. Both he and Cory can feel the power of the ley line pulsing nearby. Qooat and Sinder carry on short conversation and stash their CS gear out of sight while they watch the show go down.
On the battlefield furious fire becomes sporadic and eventually stops as the two swide stare incredulously at the Cyberknight and his companion standing in their midst. Finally, the CS commander speaks through the loudspeaker on one of the UAR-1 Enforcer Robot.
“Hold your position!”
Gale spots the commander weaving out from the buildings toward Sayeen. Timothy also watches the Federation commander break free and begin to walk toward the middle. Just like that, a small detente breaks out. Although, the cyborg still holds the Federation commander in his sights (Aim, +2 shooting next round if you fire).
The two commanders, or at least their representatives, come to Sayeen and Fell.
The Coalition commander speaks first, “You are interfering with the operation of the Coalition States military protecting our sovereign territory. Withdraw or be destroyed!”
For his part the Federation commander scoffs, “This city was razed and destroyed by your army. Taking something by force from its inhabitants does not make it yours. Our forces are missing in that building and we intend to recover them.”
The admission that the Federation of Magic has operatives in the building makes the CS commander pause. Finally he speaks up, “So, you have come to cover up your previous intrusions.” Turning his gaze to Sayeen, the CS commander makes a deal, “Sir Knight. You say you also have companions lost inside. I will grant you access on the condition you share what information you find in there with us.”
Bristling the Federation of Magic leader seems to lose his cool, “You are in no position to make such a deal. We will destroy you and take what is ours.”
The Coalition officer shrugs, not bothered at all by the threat, “I will take my chances on the field of battle...Sir Knight, move your team inside the derelict. My unit will cover your advance from these interlopers. When you return I will be waiting. Or I will be dead, and you will have to deal with what remains of these scum.”
Turning on his heel the CS officer leaves no more room for parley, the 1st SET has a window to enter the old power plant. But who will be waiting for them if they exit will depend on the outcome of this battle.

Sinder looks at Tim, and sits up, and turns and speaks, "Sorry Tim, first time, I was thinking of sending a fireball in or just starting a fire. If you have an idea where you want the fire and when let me know."
Sinder sits up straight and pulls his laser pistol, "If you have some grenade, I might be able to toss a few. Smoke gives them cover, frags for those that are going to rush us."
After observing the talk Sinder is a bit more calm. "Hey they stopped shooting for a w did Sayeen While that is good news. Looks like something might be in the works."

It looks like the negotiations are actually going well. "Wow, Merlaggon, do you that? Sayeen and Fell actually those guys talking instead of killing each other! Amazing," Cory says quietly to her metamorphed buddy. She's so close to the entrance, the she feels the power of the ley line coursing through her. She's got a dragon at her back. Plus, it's killing her to not know what's in there. They just can't wait any longer. Those Legion people are in trouble!
"I think we should take this chance to head for the door, come on! But stay small, we don't want them to really notice us." She doesn't want to leave Merl behind, as much as she does want to get to the entrance quickly using her cool new speed and teleport abilities. Also, full on sprinting across the open ground might be more distracting and attention grabbing than a thoughtful walking pace, no more of a hustle [Up to Pace 8].
Assuming she's not shot at or otherwise impeded she'll dive right into the building and look around.
"Are you guys coming or what, there's people to save! And I just gotta know, like what's down there! Come on!"

After hearing Cory, Sinder puts his weapon away and raises his hand trying to make everyone see him as no threat. He makes his move. He will get out there unless Qoat moves the vehicle closer to the building. Slowly and purposely couching behind any cover he moves toward the building. Sinder's heart is thumping at a fast pace. "Don't use any powers out here it will just cause attention to you and make you a target. Stay low and move in cover."
Use the others as cover when needed. "Great I'm the slow one here."

As the commander walks away dissolving the bristling parley Sir Sayeen yells, " Ever the Hot head Dazzle... Even after that time in Shadowvillage... Know this Dazzle, if I can, I will recover your men as well. Sir Sayeen pauses for a moment hit by an errant memory forgotten yet recently recovered. Shadowvillage. An abysmal patch of land if there was one. At the edge of the magic zone. She was so sure she could get that kid to set free some D-bees... That kid, Oleksandr, took the blame, and the D-bees escaped her grasp... She was hot tempered then as she is now. He shakes his head as his words have little effect.
Sir Sayeen gently puts a hand on Fell's shoulder and whispers privately to him, " I will follow you, but know this if we engage now I am bound only to defend... A cyber-knight cannot help to end this conflict no matter the slight."

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Well that de-escalated faster than I thought. Some how it feels backwards. Amazing, one simply storms into a mass of chaos and declares hey everyone I’m a Cyber Knight! Listen to me. For I am here to tell you, no matter how you may normally feel about it, I need you to now feel this way. Seriously? See. This is why I daydream about becoming a Cyber Knight. Granted, I won’t ever, even if I detoxed I am sure it takes a higher caliber of goodness than I have ever managed to have in my soul.
Watching the CS Commander move away reminds Fell of his brother who is or was a CS Officer. I should try sending him another message.
Seeing the Federation Commander glaring at the CS Commander and then start to turn away Fell’s heart skips a beat. Now. Go. Come on. Right now…I can cut him down before the demonic soul can start a spell. Reach, swing, cut and run.
Hearing Sir Sayeen’s words: "I will follow you, but know this if we engage now I am bound only to defend... A cyber-knight cannot help to end this conflict no matter the slight." As the Eldest of the Eldest gently puts a hand on Fell's shoulder the Juicer spins with blinding speed to face the Knight.
Oh fantastic, here it comes.
The Commanders are walking with agonizing slowness.
The Knight is still applying light downward pressure on my shoulder.
I’ve already got the pistol pulled, I didn’t even see that.
I really need to stop.
Shooting Sayeen will ruin everything.
Hmm, I count 17 Feds, and 19 CS, not counting hidden – no, no, no I am not going to open fire on them after Sayeen.
I need this juice to chill.
Damn it hand pointed at Sayeens midriff, really need to stop.
Ha, Tim, I never did get a chance to respond to his radio call.
Let’s wait this out would have been my first preference too.
I wonder how the new guy, Sinder, is doing.
Qoat is no doubt filling him in on things.
Oh, finger is starting to squeeze the trigger, I always loved this part, and no one is moving except me.
I should shoot the Fed Commander, not Sayeen.
The Knight set me off but he’s on my side.
Stop Severin.
Hey, I wonder if I ever even told anyone my first name.
Does the team know my first name?
I wanted to tell Cory it, ask her to call me Severin.
Snap, I really don’t need to start thinking about her right now.
That Will distract me and next thing I know I will be dead or have killed everyone.
Okay, seriously I need to stop.
That’s it.
Bring it back, holster it.
Look casual.
Breathing in rapid quick short breaths Fell lowers the Pulse Pistol back into his holster, returning it nearly as fast as he pulled it.
”Bit jumpy. Juiced up. Was in mid thought there. Incredible Sir Knight. That was all you, but I'm glad I had a front row seat for seeing it. Yes. I. Agree, we should make haste and get into the power plant before someone changes their mind. Well done. If I didn’t know better I’d think you cast a spell to sway them.”
Breathing normally now Fell says, ”Did you know my first name is Severin? You can keep calling me Fell, but, yeah, that’s my given first name.”
Turning to face the power plant the Juicer radios: ”Well great. Sounds like Cory and Merl are inside already, I see Gale headed down to me and Sayeen, which leaves Qoat, Sinder and Timothy. Shall we all make haste and get inside before things explode out here.”
Fell will walk with Sayeen to the entrance and head inside to look the first room as the rest arrive.
Now the fun starts.

(( Rolls Carried over))
Inside he leans up against up against the wall of the plant and removes his helmet. Sweat drenches his his white hair giving it a silver sheen. His face is speckled with red patches. His breathing sounds strained at best. " Oh I can't catch... Its so stifling... Severin... Severin..." He looses his footing and slumps the rest of the way down clsoing his eyes. His brow furrows in concentration as he tries to regain control of his breath. It takes a few moments but his breathing returns to normal. He weakly smiles clutching his chest and wipes the sweat from his face. He chuckles a bit saying to himself, " I thought that was it..." He pushes himself up, a bit wobbily, and nods at Fell. " I am ready Severin."
Sir Sayeen put his hand on Fell's shoulder. It might surprise Fell but Sir Sayeen shifts quite a bit of his weight onto Fell doing his best to hide the fact he is leaning on him for support. He weakly says, " Severin, a good name... His breathing is labored. " A good name, I am glad I got to know it."Fell wrote:

As the Cyber Knight wobbly stands up, Fell places his hand on Sir Sayeen's shoulder. Kind of holding him up and still.
"Take a moment. Relax. You did well. Cory. Merl. Slow down. Yes we will check the place out. Just. Let the rest of the team catch up.
Timothy I am willing to take point as we go, unless you want it. I know you've got experience doing this. Right? Where'd you say you were trained? It looks familiar.
Okay. I see the last of our team rushing in."
Fell nods to each of the team members as they assemble in the room.
"So we ready to start searching. Find our Red Shirts. Remember. There are both hostile Feds and likely something worse in here.
How you doing Sinder? All good so far?"

"Well, I guess this means we've got to earn our pay," Qoat says to Sinder trying to downplay it to hide his reaction. I need to wrap up the CV-212. He goes into the main cabin of the Q-Mobile and pulls out a rain slicker. He wraps the rifle in it, and makes sure the extra e-clips are secured to his utility belt along with the neural mace and NG-33. This will have to do.

Sir Sayeen thanks Fell for the help with a small smile. Common Sayeen you have enough stregnth left for at least one more adventure. After hearing Fell's plan he offers an addendum in a soft horse voice. "Shall I take the rear gaurd and watch your backs as before? With such a beast on the loose it would make sense to have someone watch those who are looking for the security team..." He pauses looking at Timothy before continuing more firmly than before. " If we do find the feds down here what will become of them? I gave my word foolishly or not that I would see them to safety. Should they be injured and in need I will not be able to refrain from giving it." His voice faulters as the pounding of his heart thunders in his ears. Just breathe... Breathe, Severin is a good man, a good leader, don't get yourself riled up over soemthing that may or may not happen. Sayeen looks away from Timothy trying to catch his breath. After a moment to regain composure he slides up next to Sinder and with a wink chuckles.Fell wrote:

" So lets not Tell JB about this. I beleive I told him a few years back I was giving all these heroics up... Was going to retire..." Sir Sayeen chuckles softly a bit more, "No, I doubt this does not constitutes an easy life." Sir Sayeen stops smiling and looks Sinder up and down taking stock of the man before him. " Looks like you got all your gear, just watch your enviroment and surroundings." Sir Sayeen slaps Sinder on the back ready to roll out.

"Looks like you got all your gear, just watch your enviroment and surroundings." Sir Sayeen slaps Sinder on the back ready to roll out.

Hostile Federation Mages. Something sinister. My credits are on a demon or big nasty monster. I'm sure we will find all kinds of trouble in here. The stomping grumpy Borg. Not so stealthy dragon. I really want to go first. Keep the others behind me. Keep them out of harms way. Time to trust...

Cory crowds Timothy and Merl a little bit up at the front. She wants to see what's up ahead without waiting for everyone to get out of the way. She doesn't quite disregard Fell's instructions, she just pushes the limits of "whatever order you want".
*I looked up SUL, there are quite a lot of definitions. The Urban Dictionary ones are pretty entertaining. The Acronym Finder responses are more boring, especially with the "military" keyword added, but might be more relevant.

With a flourish of his wings Gale lands and falls in to the core of the group...? His Flaming sword is in one hand, a chain sword is in the other. Sir Sayeen Looks at Sinder incredulously and chuckles. " Your dad used to say the same thing when we were off Chasing leads..." Sir Sayeen cringes slightly when Merlaggon yells and starts crashing through walls. He steadies himself against one of the walls as the floor shifts during Merlaggon's romp thru the structure still holding up the ruins of the the old power plant. What are they doing up there? " I think you might be right, they are doing their best to call forth whatever might still be lurking here." Sir Sayeen takes heed of Sinder's warning and cranes his neck high making sure some kind of beasty isn't about to pounce... Absently while looking at the team and his surroundings he resumes his conversation with Sinder, " Dazzle said something about a federation team lost in these ruins, so that makes two teams, plus whatever prevented their egress." He pauses as he walks though a cloud of dust that had been kicked up by Merlaggon's rampage and looks at the ceiling again. " I am no engineer but it can't be good for a dragon to go knocking out walls can it?"Sinder wrote:

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Those Neemans Sure Knew How to Build Stuff
After sifting through the office level the teams finds themselves in the main power plant. The facility is huge! The main corridor is about 24 feet wide and the ceiling is very high - although hanging debris and other things would impede flying to a large degree. However, the cataclysm has not been kind to the structure, rubble and large debris litter the floors forcing everyone to climb over or skirt around piles of junk making movement extremely slow (half Pace). The only source of light comes from holes in the roof - probably made by CS bombardment over the years - even that light will dissipate as the team descends to into the bowels of the old power plant (-2 to visual Notice checks, unless using lights/night-vision/powers).
Merlaggon, in his dragon form, and Timothy can walk the point with enough space between them to avoid bumping into one another and scan everything in front of them. As Timothy makes his way over one pile of debris his cybernetic hearing picks up an audible “click” and he freezes. Looking down at his feet he can quickly notices what he’s found: an un-detonated munition!
Examining it a little closer Timothy can easily tell it’s a CS model, a missile that didn’t explode on target. The could mean it’s a dud or that jostling it could blow his bionic legs off!

Sinder is a bit curious about the mini missile, "If you wish, I can provide some light, flame light, but those that can see without light might be hindered. Also can you tell me the type of warhead it has? If it is a plasma one, I could try to negate it's effects. Might just give you a hot foot."

Besides telling Fell and Timothy what he sees, he tries to lighten the mood, poorly, "How about I just disconnect the foot, and we can just hop on out of here?"

Sir Sayeen snaps his head around during the commotion letting his Elvish eyes stare intently on the "hanging things" above the 1st. He whispers softly to himself tensing for a trap to be sprung. " I am Sir Sayeen Gabbersleaf, the elder and eldest of half-elves. My mother is from Arcadia, the Fey lands, and she bestowed her gifts unto me. I stare at Thee!" Perfect place for a trap... Long corridor mined with explosives, what lurks in the darkness above? Where would a likely attack come from? In Sayeen's mind the image of his father, strong and robust looking at him in his formative years plays forth. His father sternly and calmly is instructing him... Don't let your mind oppress what the enemy may accomplish. Take your time... Free your eyes from your mind's oppression... Sir Sayeen crouches using the junk at hand for whatever cover he can manage. I can't move, you don't know how many more explosives are around! He breathes softly still looking above the team. " Ok where would you be? Free my eyes... Free my eyes...Venatus Vinco wrote:The facility is huge! Fell moves over to Timothy, flipping on, then off, his flashlight (attached to front of the NG-E4) the Juicer hrumps.
"Tim. That sucks."
Glancing at the others he quietly says, "Stay back. Take cover. We're gunna be a sec. Keep you eyes peeled."
Looking back at Qoat, Sinder and Tim he says, "I'm listening..."

If we have someone who can notice things like this rocket, it may make sense for me to be further back since I am not the best at noticing them. If not, maybe I should take solo point because I would be better able to survive any stray munitions or any traps.

Now a bomb is a scary thing. It could blow up, kill everyone, take the building down. So naturally Cory wants to have a look. She moves quietly up behind Gale. She looks closely without getting the way. It's fascinating really, is this an accidental event, or something that was specifically planted to impede trespassers. And something that is scaring the crap out of everyone here. Except maybe Merl, but he might not understand what's going on. Really, Cory doesn't either. Which is probably a bad thing.

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
Bomb’s Away
Normally Tim puts his foot in his mouth, or threatens to stick it up someone’s ass, but today (today!) he stepped on a bomb. In the most tragically ironic fashion, it is an old Coalition munition. As if blowing him up during the line of duty the first time wasn’t enough the Emperor had to do it all over again. In their normal “devil may care” fashion the group immediately breaks formation and gathers around Tim to gawk at the situation. Perhaps their ability to run toward a live munition is a testament to their bravery, if not their intelligence.
With his customary bravado, Gale doesn’t stop to brainstorm a solution. Channelling his psychic energies the Mind Melter focuses on the bomb making it incorporeal. Somewhat anti-climatically the intangible item sinks into the floor and nobody really sees anything happen. If it exploded the pieces will eventually be shunted back into open space once Gale’s power wears off. If it didn’t blow up the whole thing will return in a few seconds and then blow up.
Rather than tempt fate the group continues down the hall in their original marching order.
Going Down
The long corridor continues until the team reaches the edge of a drop. A very old, and rickety, ladder barely clings to the wall. At the bottom is a large landing, with another ladder descending even further. The very bottom is concealed in a layer of steam or gas escaping from a large tank on the wall. Each drop is about 15 meters (45 feet).

Sinder goes over to the ladder and looks down then rapid fire questions spew out of his mouth. “Wow that is a good drop, thirty, forty feet? The gas over there is it flammable? I can light it if you want to see if it is first, before we go down there. It might be bad if we are all down there and it blows, right? Could be steam I suppose. Hope it isn’t acid. Oh! is this the path the others took? And did they go into the gas?”
Sinder makes sure his helmet is on. Then smiles, “Flaming Dogboys, I don’t think I should have said all that negative stuff. If it is gas, Wow!, that would be great. Can you imagine the tower of flames! I could just take a flaming piss, that would be the hottest thing so far on this trip.” Sinder is eagerly hoping that they take him up on the flame.
He wants to start flying around but it might cause to much attention to the Flaming Firebug. He knows flames attract all sort of things mainly bad.

Fell slings his NG-E4 across his back and pulls the Chain Saw out for possible use.
Lets hope this works....and goes smoothly.
"Oh, and Sinder, lets go down one more level and see if we can figure out if that is a vapor, gar, or something. I assume if you ignite it, you can control it?"

When they reach the drop, Qoat whistles, "A ricketly ladder to hell, going down!" When Merlaggon suggest ferry them down, he moves towards the tarp, but when he hears Sinder ask about explosive gases, he stops, and takes a step back and berates himself, Thinking stupid, Qoat.
"How about we drop a grenade or fire an energy weapon down there first? This thing is supposed to be non-functional, how is that tank emitting steam?" Qoat uses his thermal vision in his armor to check the temperature of the gas and tank along with the hole.
If the initial checks look good, he joins the others in Melaggon's giant nap sack to be carried down to the next level.

Qoat scuttles back as Gale rushes forward to touch the explosive, What the f$ck! That guy is going to get us killed! Afterwards, not having died, Qoat has to re-examine his feelings, Okay, that was sick, I wonder if I could build a device to the same? Qoat finally takes the time to speak with Gale, "The Qoat is not easily impressed, the Qoat compliments Gale on his ingenuity."
Continuing their journey, Qoat examines the equipment around them, looking for anything still working. He also checks at his feet to make sure he's not the next to step on something unexpected. He takes the time to look for any cameras or sensory equipment that might be installed. Not likley based on the sounds on that recording, but, can't be too sure.

Sinder looks at Fell With a frown on his face he speaks seriously, "Why yes I should be able to control the fire but you are having me do two things at once start it and then control it. Some what akin to loading your rifle at the same time you fired it. But if it is flames, due to the gas, I should be able to stop the fire. Now if the steam is meant to cover something else. You know any infrared optics are going to be useless. Maybe we can fix the leak, if it isn't to bad?"Fell
"Oh, and Sinder, let's go down one more level and see if we can figure out if that is a vapor, gar, or something. I assume if you ignite it, you can control it?"
Sinder looks at the Merlaggon and speaks, "I thank you for the helping hand, in the lift down." as he climbs aboard

Fell nods.
"Okay. Just checking. Thank you Sinder. Doing my best to learn everyone's 'abilities'. Let's all head down one level. Once down. If you, Sinder, and maybe Merl want to swoop in more and investigate the 'fog' cool. First let's all get down there."
Looking around the Juicer says, "I for one have seen no sign of life yet."
Fell nods at the dragon to signal he is ready to be carried.
"Thank you Merl."
"Oh! And Gale. In case I forget to mention it later. You're as crazy as a snakes armpit. Good job."

Sir Sayeen, nods at Fell and Merlaggon. Well this is it then. He gingerly steps into the cargo netting letting it take his weight. He looks at his old wrinkled hands clenches them once and then again. " It has been ages since we have been climbing, I just need a moment to get the blood flowing..." He grabs hold with one hand, and in the other activates his glowing orange Psi-Maul.

She teleports down to the next platform and starts investigating. She walks to the edge and looks down to the next level. She scopes out the steaming pipe from a nice safe distance. What are these holes in the floor? Cory doesn't touch anything yet...
She's overly confident. She's never worn armor this heavy, nor armor that was fully environmentally sealed. She feels cocky and unstoppable. A sense of urgency is growing. Cory feels like they are taking a terribly long time to move through the power plant. Do those guys just not realize there are people to save! she thinks scowling up at the conversationalists.
She's a little disappointed in Merl, expecting a little more drive. But he's young, there are lots of things he still has to learn. More viewpoints is advantageous. Cory just wishes those other viewpoints weren't so slow.

Re: Mission 3: Ravenous Fury
On The Edge
Staring at the fall and the seemingly suspect ladder the group begins a short debate about how to get down, and the nature of whatever gas might be emanating from the tank below. Despite his skills Qooat can’t really ascertain anything useful While the resident pyromaniacs debate lighting the gas on fire the others urge caution. Slowly a plan develops to use Merlaggon as a flying transport. While Sir Sayeen clamours on the dragon’s back, Cory and Timothy take matters into their own hands.
As soon as Tim begins his descent down the ladder it groans under his massive cybernetic weight, yet it holds for now. Using her newfound armor abilities, Cory teleports down and clanks across the second platform. A hollow ringing under her feet, looking down the grate in the floor she sees that that platform is also the roof of some other room down below. Moving to the edge she looks at the tank, as best she can tell is that the escaping gas is just steam and the hole looks fairly recent.
A loud clang interrupts her investigations as the ladder suddenly gives way and Timothy. The group on the edge can see the cyborg fall about half the distance, crashing into the floor then “through” the floor into a small room below. From her vantage point Cory sees Tim hit the floor and break through the rusted metal to the room below.
As Tim lands in the room (no damage) and gets his bearings he can see that the room is empty save for some old tools and computers...there is also a door that appears to exit into the hallway with the steam cloud. Given the combined weight of the group, avoiding the first landing might be a good idea, but then again landing in an unknown steam is also unappealing.
OOC: Given there is no initiative order and to make things go a little quicker I will try to reply to any actions you take as it happens.

"Watch the wall, WATCH THE WALL!" Qoat yells as Merleggon swoops down to the bottom. With the dragon flying closer to the steamy area of the passage, Qoat takes a closer look. Better stay sealed up, don't want to breath any unfiltered air. On the radio, Qoat tells the group, "The steam is probably being generated by the residual heat from spent, but still radioactive, fuel that has leaked out of it's containment vessel other the years. Stay buttoned up."
Once on the ground, Qoat scrambles out of the tarp, and swings the CV-212 around while scanning with his suit's optics.

Sinder is curious and wonders why Tim wants to go down the ladder, it seems that it would be a much better idea if one of the lighter ones went down.

Sinder smirk, and then worries a bit, "Timothy are you OK. I didn't think the ladder was going to hold you. What is down here? This interesting. Maybe on the the way out we can recover some of this, unless someone thinks it will work and we can get some information on the computer?"Timothy gets up from the fall and looks around. The flight down, held in Merl's claws is agonizingly long. Probably only from a Juicer's point of view. Once Fell has his feet on the ground again he moves towards Timothy.
"You okay big guy?"
Looking around at the others the Juicer smirks at Sir Sayeen. Follies? Silly. Fell chuckles.
Looking over at Sinder: "Take what you want, just be able to fight."
Looking at Cory, the Juicer sees that she is okay and noticed her teleporting. New power?
Fell moves to the front of the party and down the corridor.
"Right oh, lets go."
"Stay tight. Stay frosty. Be alert, it feels like something is coming. Tim you coming? Merl you got our backs? Lets advance a little shall we. You heard Qoat! Buttoned up."
My armor isn't full environmental hehe but whatever.
