Tawny fur, black nose and whiskers. Ears off the top of his head, capable some swiveling and flattening. Eyes, big and black, and more off on the sides of his head to provide better peripheral vision. Tail about 4" long, not bushy like a female of his species.

Curious little fellow, liable to get into anything. Not exactly the most moral of creatures either since his clan really did not have a firm concept of personal property. Though he is trustworthy and loyal to friends. He never really understood that whole Light Side, Dark Side thing as Jantoo explained to him.
Jantoo, a Jedi Scout and philosopher, discovered the small being on Kashyyyk living among the wookiees. There was a very small clan the immigrated there and long since forgotten their original home planet. Due to generations of living together, the Skwirrel were one of the few species that had the vocal capability to learn Shyriiwook as it was not too dissimilar to their own native language.

Jantoo found J'hera Zed to be strong in the force, a little too old to become a typical youngling. But the small clan was not very accommodating or civilized enough to respect the Jedi and let the furry guy leave planet easily. It took a little bribing and playing upon J'hera's curiosity to get him to stow away on the Jedi's ship. JZ enjoyed tinkering with electronics and such, nearly obsessively and that was a major lure in getting him to leave the forested planet. More than one wookiee was not sorry to see the little bugger leave.

For the next year, the War interfered with Jantoo delivering the little guy to the Jedi Temple for formal training and he bent the rules to unofficially take on JZ as a Padawan. They traveled where the Jedi was needed and on a rim planet, a bounty hunter assassin actually was able to take out Jantoo and leave the little Skwirrel to fend for himself in the galaxy after being dumped on the prison moon, Alsokul. JZ was able to hire on for some stealthy breaking and entering for Balck Jack Slim because JZ was a bit ambivalent about the scruples of other people's property.
