Q2 2020 GM Poll

Post by Snake Eyes »

Vote away, purely on the Fun Factor.

Your vote will form one part of my EP award, if any. The other two parts will be based on the group size and my own post rate. Hopefully, I haven't kept you waiting too much this quarter.

In case it factors into your thinking, the GM Post Rate this Quarter was 0.5. I'll be reevaluating my methodology for posts, as the pace is unacceptable in my mind considering that's spread between 2 separate adventures.

The concept of this game is strong,

I honestly was expecting to be playing two characters at once. I thought it was more pick someone and play him for a main mission then swap out next time. The side job for the secondary crew was still pretty involved. That seems like a lot of extra work for the GM.

As a GM this would be like running two separate groups or a large party that decided to split.

I'm okay with an occasional interlude or something with the inactive villian.

Great game, I like the idea you have here, and do not feel bad about post rates. We all knew going into this it would be a slow game. There was no deception or surprise there. So my score is based on your story, and the ability to string two separate missions together.

Though I do wonder, will you still be awarding an advance every Q? I guess I need to look at the other link you shared for that answer.

  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

@Venatus Vinco I didn't expect the secondary crew to be as involved as it was. I enjoyed using the Plans & Operations model, and I think that actually made things much easier for me. That said, I do believe I'll take you up on the interlude option in the very near future. I've chunked a ton of info into the Prime Crew operation. It might be nice not to have the secondary crew pulling my focus away.
@Ndreare I think originally I had figured on the secondary crew getting some kind of half advance or something, but that's going to be too much bookkeeping on one hand, and they did a full adventure's worth of work on the other. So yeah, unless people think that'll get too far out of hand, I think an advance every Q is fair.
