Hindrances
  • • Greedy (Minor): Mouse Hybrids always ensure they get their cut.
    • Giri (Major): You took out a loan from some very bad people. You owe them a lot of money, money you are expected to pay back regularly. Every week, your character has to pay 1,000 cryptodollars. If you're unable to pay then they send a thug around to collect, or hurt you on an escalating scale (from Bumps & Bruises to murder). Payments stop when you, or your heirs, have paid back double the debt. Once you have paid your debt you can replace this Hindrance with another of similar intensity, use an Advance to remove it entirely, or take out a new debt. The debt is 15,000 for a Minor hindrance, 30,000 for the Major version. The good news is that your starting funds increase by the debt you owe.
    • Driven (Major): Whiskers isn’t the best, yet (and certainly isn’t going to become the best at a 9-5 job at the subsidiary of a subsidiary of a corp).
    • Hesitant: Act on the lowest of two Action Cards (except for Jokers).
Edges and Racial Abilities
  • • Hard to Kill: Mouse Hybrids are survivors, ignoring Wound penalties when rolling for Incapacitation.
    • Low Light Vision: Ignore penalties for Dim or Dark illumination but not Pitch Darkness.
    • Hacker: Gets one free Reroll on Hacking to gain access to a network or Tendril Access Processor or when counter hacking an intrusion attempt on a system being monitored.
•Ace: Ignore 2 points of penalties on Driving, Piloting or Boating rolls; can Soak for vehicles.
•Danger Sense: When rolling for Surprise (page 108), add +2 tobNotice roll to act in the first round. With a raise, start the encounter on Hold. In other situations not covered by the Surprise rules (a sniper shot, pit trap, poisoned drink, etc.), Danger Sense gives a Notice roll at −2 (or +2 if a Notice roll is usually allowed) to detect the hazard and take appropriate action. If this was an attack and the hero makes the Notice roll, the foe doesn't get The Drop against the hero.
•Common Bond: Whiskers can share Bennies.

Background
Sam was a programmer for a subsidiary of Onion, but wanted to be more. Sam met Jared Zilcet one night at one of the seemingly endless corporate meet-and-greets that every corp seems religiously devoted to setting up, and the two of them ruminated about their jobs over too much alcohol. After one (or three) too many, Sam decided to get an upgrade.

Jared told Sam about some, we shall say, less than above-board people who would be more than willing to stake an up and coming hacker for some upgrades, and Sam took the plunge. After ordering several items through Jared from Acme’s exclusive corporate catalogue, and a new TAP and sprite through Onion's employee portal, life was looking up.

The final step, though, was to go all in on a gene treatment that had been bouncing around Sam's skull for years. They get a bad rap, but mice are survivors, and, honestly, no one can really keep them out of somewhere they want to be. That sounded just like a hacker to Sam, who took the tag Whiskers and hasn’t yet looked back.

But of course the bill is coming due real soon, and now Sam needs to make some real money, real fast.
