  • Blood Night

Setrakian’s bloodlust was on par with the vampires he was equally hunted by and was hunting.

Loping through the desert night almost mindless the Dragon Juicer growled and undead blood dripped from his mouth to his gore covered chest.

He’d slain four of the damned vampires thus far. One with the techno-wizard light blade. One with the Dragon Claw Vambrace — Rezik’s Claw — a TW weapon built from a adult dragons claws. The evil dragon was the first dragon Setrakian ever helped kill. The memory almost ended his lust. He concentrated on the taste of blood in his mouth. The third he had crushed it’s scull with his hands. The fourth he had torn it’s neck out with his own teeth and finished off the gagging bloodsucker with the light blade.

Setrakian wasn’t ready to let go of the lust yet. He wasn’t all gone however, stopping and hunkering down by a rock he was silent and a shadow in the night under the sliver of the moon.

His ears had alerted him to another vampire ahead. It stood alone in the dark surrounded by a fog.

Setrakian did not see any other vampires in the area. The sucker was a sucker. He bolted forward stabbing out with the dragon claw and ready to activate the light blade.

Simultaneously he gutted the undead, flipped the light blade on as he cut its fanged head off its neck.

Simultaneously the body and head fell separated to the ground as the fog meta-morphed into six more vampires.

Surrounded the suckers had made a sucker out of the dragon juicer by tricking him.

Setrakian’s laughter was loud and it held the vampires at bay momentarily.

They looked at each other then back at their prey.

Sensing they were nearing their attack Setrakian roared, ”Now!

Zurathas ripped into the vampires from behind shredding four of the six into pieces as Setrakian felled the other two with claw and light blade.

”Thank you brother.” @Zurathas

Both moved back into the darkness.

  • Magic Fruit

Setrakian moved deeper into the darkness of the desert night. It had been easily an hour since he last saw or heard a vampire. He wondered if they were all gone.

A large shape came into view ahead of the dragon juicer as he slunk quietly closer. It looked like some kind of vehicle. No. A small house. No. It was a truck-house. Frowning he scratched his head. Which lead to him thinking he probably should shower soon. His long hair was matted with dried blood and dirt.

Moving closer to the truck-house Setrakian activated the light blade for illumination and in case of a fight.

Stepping into the house he found it empty and full.

Empty of any living or dead being.

Full of cans and a coffin.

The coffin was open and empty.

The back wall was lined with hundreds of cans of beans.

Picking up a can of refried beans Setrakian patted himself down looking for a can opener. Dropping his survival pack he rummaged through it. Nope.

”Seven thousand creds of beans and not a damn can opener anywhere!”

Frustrated the juicer used the TW light blade to cut off the top of a can. It made a mess. Dropping the light blade he poked two fingers into the can and scooped out beans. Laughing that the beans were warm, from the blade, he wolfed them down.

Looking at the collective crap he had dumped out of his survival pack Setrakian filled the pack with cans, leaving the original contents in the truck-house.

The rest of the team would be jealous of how well he would eat for the next few days.

A large smile on his face he let one rip and laughed then set off to find the others.

2d6: [5, 2] = 7 … 7,000 credits worth of canned beans.

Inside the gutted out old truck and shack was a empty living area. Some one had lived here. No longer though. They were gone but there were hundreds of cans of beans stacked along one wall of the truck house.

All is Darkest Before the Dawn

The sun was just a glint on the desert horizon, shedding pre-dawn light that gave enough illumination to see, but not enough to discern any color. The stains on the sand looked like dark oily streaks but were in fact green ichor from the dozens of slain vampires that they had hunted…and been hunted by during the night.

Like, the dragon twins, Cyrus relished in killing as many of the undead as he could. Unlike them, he was more methodical. He stalked, shot, and staked the vampires as quickly and as efficiently as possible tirelessly throughout the night. Emotion would only get in the way and could get you killed.

But now the night was nearly over. Cyrus sighed as he crouched down on his haunches. He was distracted momentarily by a cut across his midsection that was bleeding. It wasn’t deep but might need some patching up. He’d find a ley line later. Right now, it was time to relax…
The thing on the ground in front of him gurgled and hissed. Cyrus frowned, “Make another sound and I force feed you a steam grenade.”
The vampire, for that is what it was, did what it was told. That was good, Cyrus couldn’t have Set and Zurathas hearing it. They’d just tear it apart…and that would be unfortunate. The thing glared and the Atlantean glared back.

“It’s pointless, fiend. You know what I am, and you know my tattoos protect me from your powers. And those stakes are going to keep you right where you are.

“That warmth you feel is the sun coming up. Soon it will be uncomfortable. A little while later, it will hurt…badly. Then the true pain will come. It will be excruciating for you. You know this. But what you don’t know is that I have bound you in such a way that this will happen gradually. It will start at your feet and travel up your legs, into your guts and chest before it consumes you. I may even shade you to prolong it.

“Know that I want you to suffer. I want you to feel a fraction of what my people felt. Know that I also enjoy doing this to you. Know that you are not the first and you will not be the last…

“Oh, I see it has begun already…”

By the time @Setrakian and @Zurathas heard the screaming it was too late.

The Endless Crusade

Cyrus prowled the cluster of scrub oaks and mesquite trees, summoned crossbow at the ready. He was nearly vibrating with magical energy having activated a lot of his magical tattoos to help defend himself against and, of course, eradicate the vampire threat the team faced.
They needed to deal with the bloodsuckers quickly and get back to finding the contact. Still, Cyrus hoped there would be enough time to…enjoy his tradition. Maybe this one hiding among the trees would be the lucky one.

Stepping around a particularly gnarled mesquite tree, Cyrus felt the hard baked ground give under his feet a little. What had he just walked over? Looking down, the dusty earth looked the same as far as his magical night vision could see…wait...was that a slight difference in the infrared spectrum?

Yes, there was something there. Something that was cooler than the surrounding earth and as Cyrus walked over it again, something that was pliable…like rotted wood. The Atlantean stepped onto the patch a third time and this time stopped and stamped his foot. The ground gave a little more and the Atlantean jumped up and down a little. On the second jump and just as Cyrus thought it might not be the best of ideas, the ground gave way and he found himself falling.

Fortunately, it wasn’t too far a drop and Cyrus found himself in some kind of cavern. It was small, he could not stand up straight and was barely passable with the tangled roots poking out here and there from the trees above.

Making his way deeper into the root system and cavern, it became Cyrus that this chamber was not natural and had been made by someone or something. The trees above should have caused the whole thing to collapse in on itself. Was this the nest? It couldn’t be, he would have smelled the undead by now. Instead he smelled…moisture?

Sure enough, a few more feet and Cyrus found a pool. It must have been some kind of underground spring. That explained the trees. Risking a light, he found that the cavern was more like a chamber, no more than a twenty by twenty room. Going around the roots in the dark just made it seem like you went further than you did. Still, this wasn’t right. Why was it here?

Cyrus took the opportunity to fill his canteen and take a drink. The water was clear and fresh..very fresh. As he pondered this, he saw something glint in the corner. Walking over to it, he found a silver pendant. It was a in the shape of a symbol for a religion long before human civilization. Next to it were two small ampules. Cyrus recognized them immediately and now understood why the water was so pure. He pocketed the items and made his way back out into the desert night. He would continue the fight for those who came before him.

Frustrated by her failure to target the Infinity Goggles, when the group makes camp, Crystal decides that it's time to get back to basics. Sitting during a lull, she pulled out a small wristwatch. It had virtually no intrinsic value, really, just a cheaply mass-produced timepiece. But this exercise wasn't about value; it was about understanding the machine.

She'd learned the underlying premise of the Techno-wizard's art from her father. Machines were unique in the universe, he'd taught her, because unlike matter, and indeed, unlike living creatures, including people, they were, from the outset, infused with Purpose. A rock simply exists; a child brought into the world is an unknown. But a machine, once completed, is the instrument of its creator's desired Purpose. It didn't matter so much what that Purpose was, so long as the Techno-Wizard knew it, they could draw it out and make the machine more true to it.

And the best way to learn a machine's Purpose, he'd taught her, was to listen to them. This is where non-Tee-Dubs would fail to understand. Listening wasn't about hearing the sounds the machine made (though this was often useful in itself); it was about the art of hearing the machine as it expressed its desire, its will to be, to do. All machines have this desire, she'd learned, and if you knew what the machine's desire was, and could harmonize with it, you could make it do almost anything.

And so, back to basics. She held the watch, listening intently. It wanted to keep time. To dole it out, moment by moment, in carefully measured drops, and so mark the slow death of the universe. That was its Purpose. But it had been slapped together in an understaffed factory by a workforce that was pressed to crank out as many of them as possible, and so it tended to drop a second and a half every hour, and occasionally to just stop for a heartbeat, enough that it was wrong more often than right. That didn't matter; the Purpose was still there.

Having found that Purpose, she began to tinker with the workings, just a bit, with a few delicate tools from her kit. Listening, always listening, as the watch responded to her efforts, with disappointment if she nudged it too far in one direction, or with glee when she brought it closer to being on-course. Finally, she sat back, smiling--now, it was keeping perfect Time.

Of course, having attuned her hearing so delicately, she also heard the Vampire sneaking up through the bushes. Drawing her Shadow Cloak around her shoulders, she fired her TK gun at the brush, shouting, "Company!" to her companions, so that they could deal with the creature in a more permanent fashion. She tucked the watch, still keeping perfect time, into her pocket and got back to the business of surviving the night.

Loot Drop 2d6: [1, 6] = 7
7.000 Cr of mechanical salvage
When @Setrakian came back with his admittedly impressive haul of beans, Crystal inquired where the Dragon Juicer had found such bounty. After assuring him that if she found any more stashes of beans, he would get them, she went to the spot he described. A brief examination confirmed that he'd completely stripped the living space of anything edible--but that wasn't her interest, anyway.

Where most folks would just see a rotting hulk, she immediately saw the sweetest word in the Techno-Wizard's vocabulary--salvage. She immediately went to the truck's hood and used the lasertorch on her armor to cut off what remained of the rusted sheet of metal. And while most of it had either been picked over or rotted, to her trained eye there were still several grands' worth of pieces and parts worth the trouble to remove. They could either be repurposed for field repairs of her teammates' equipment, or, possibly, refurbished into something completely new and wondrous.

Dragging the scrap back to the camp was onerous, and she did find herself wishing that she'd gotten an armor suit with an exoskeleton, but eventually she was able to get it back to the team's vehicle, where the others obligingly helped her stash it away in the cargo area. She made a mental catalogue of all the parts, and what functions they could be put to....

During the night

Zurathas has no fear of such things as vampires. If their meager fangs could even penetrate his hide, his blood would burn their miserable mouths and melt them to mist.
So rather than hide, he strides boldly through the town wearing his human form until a sucker falls for the ruse. His favorite fights were the ones where he was able to draw in more than one or two. Surrounded by a dozen vampires he was able to truly stretch his claws and demonstrate his prowess in combat. Even if the vampires weren't fully destroyed, they were left vulnerable, and usually without their heads. Easy scraps to clean up for any who followed him with flame. @Cyrus Cyrillus mopped up his share, though that one wasn't content just to torch scraps. He had his own scores to settle.
Entering the desert gave Zurathas the opportunity rejoin his brother @Setrakian to continue the un-bloodbath. Sure, there was violence, and Zurathas makes great bait. But far be it from him to deny his brother similar satisfaction. Letting the juicer stroll into the mist, Zurathas watched as the vampires sprung their ill-conceived "trap." The mist shifted into vampires.
"Now!" Setrakian shouted.
"The hunters are caught in their own snares." With a roar and a leap, Zurathas lands in their midst.
It's hard to tell if vampires actually feel fear. Zurathas would have stopped to ask them, but their heads came off too quickly, and he simply didn't have Cyrus' patience for the long slow kill. A pair of dragons in the desert laughing at the game of violence might not have struck fear into the dead heart of a vampire, but they didn't encounter any more that evening.

Killing vampires is its own reward, really. But sometimes, there are beans to plunder. And so it was that Zurathas accompanied his brother @Setrakian to the wreck. Having missed out on some of the excitement amidst their own, Zurathas opted to accompany Crystal Clad on her return foray to the bean van. She is skilled and determined, but she's just one squishy human. Zurathas is neither squishy nor human, and therefore makes a perfect shield.
Along the way, the slightest hint of something shiny tucked into a rocky outcropping catches the dragon's eye. "One moment." he says to the techno-wizard. He pounces quickly on the rocks to sort out just what was so carelessly placed. He finds a backpack attached to an unfortunate vampire-meal. It seems they didn't care to pick the corpse of their dinner. The glint of a zipper against the moonlight signaled goodies for the young dragon. With care, he plucked the bag from the human husk. Inside he
3 temperature cloaks and 10 sticks of MD dynamite
three bolts of strange cloth and ten precisely constructed cylinders marked "TNT". He strides over to @Crystal Clad, twirling the stick between his claws. "What do you suppose... Perhaps these are stakes to turn this cloth into shelters for your kind?"
