Turns out it's not so easy to die as one might think. Normally a bullet to the noggin is a one way ticket to the afterlife but the next day Sam's waking up on a slab and (almost)giving the coroner a heart attack. Whatever's been going around giving folks "super" powers gave it to him. Turns out though he didn't come all the way back. Sam may be up and around be he has no pulse and no longer needs to eat nor breathe. He's not dead but he's certainly not alive either.

Being a card carrying member of the undead is not all sunshine and roses either. While he hasn't had to worry about body parts falling off he does have that aura of death that hangs about him. His skin is pale and gaunt and his eyes are sunken with milky irises. Unless he makes sure to wear a strong aftershave those around him can just catch a whiff of eau de death. With a bit of concentration he can literally make people sick to be around him though he has learned a certain level of control to avoid infecting friends and allies.

He is a little more resistant to damage than he used to be when he was alive but shoot him, stab him, blow him up and sooner or later he's back to his, uh, old dead self. Perhaps the silver lining of all this is that little fazes him anymore. Once you've been dead there is little to be afraid of. It's allowed him to become even more of a deadeye shot (pun intended) with his trusty Desert Eagle when the need arises.
