Background

As a Phlebus, normally they are expected to be entertainers , conmen and the like and originally, he was expecting that he would follow that very path as he had little appreciation or opportunity for magic.

However, Gargamel was always very confident in his abilities and his settlement in the Federation of Magic was near a Faerie mound and issues between the faeries constantly threatened the peace in the area. The biggest problem was a batch of blue and white faeries. He set about capturing a few blue and white faeries that were causing issues for the other faerie species, preventing a potential faerie war in the process. Thankful, they taught him the basics of magic, which led to him being noticed by the nearby City of Dweomer and being trained as a Battle Magus for the defense of the city. Unnoticed by him, they also gave him a blessing that resulted in good fortune and eventually his pride and Joy – the Sky Rider (TW Sky Boat).

He was a proponent of deposing Alistair Dunston at the City of Brass as the only way for the Federation of Magic to survive and unite. This has earnt him more than a few enemies in the Federation of Magic.

Whilst escorting an envoy en-route to Magestar, they passed a Fade town under assault from creatures crawling out of a rift. Without much thought, he dove straight into combat, helping rescue the town and defeating their leader, claiming its’ Battle Fury Blade in the process.

A Black Company representative was already there and upon returning to Dweomer, the Lords of Magic sent him to assist the Black Company. Gargamel doesn't know why they would but suspects some hidden connection between the two groups.

Gargamel calls his skiff the Sky Rider, at the moment - but he keeps changing the name.

Note: a faerie blessing gave him the vessel though it could mean somebody or something is after it for another reason.

The way I read the Fortune and Glory table there is no restriction to say non-TW as it does in others places. So as much as it may be unbalancing there's nothing stopping the selection, unless we house rule it.

which you entitled to do and I would understand. it is however a rare occurance in that somebody has gone the Mars route for a mage, rolled the right numbers and opted for it as a mage wanting to get into close combat.

just need to sort out trapping effects for his spell effects. Are the following alright?

Bolt - a few different trappings depending on the type of casting for number of bolts split between fire, cold and acid
1 Bolt - Ice Bolt - Range halved, but subject requires vigor roll (-2 on a raise) to avoid cold based fatigue
2 Bolts - Fire bolts - Armour piercing - gain AP2 for +1 PPE
3 Bolts - Fire Bolts - Flammable items may catch fire

Acid Arrow Bolt 3d6 damage - Acid trapping
Corrosion - If attack causes a shaken result or higher, roll d6. On a 6, material is either ruined or armour uses one point of protection

•Fireball - Blast - let's be a traditionalist and go with fireball - Armour piercing - gain AP2 for +1 PPE.

•Mirror Image - Deflection - akin to mirror image with multiple versions of him appearing, distorting where he actually is

•Slow Time - Quickness - time slows down for him and everybody else is at a crawl

Fire trapping of armor percimg amd flammable are two seperate trapping effects. Generally you only get to apply 1 effect. So you could have 2 fire bolts that are flammable, and 3 bolts are armor percing.

Faerie Vorpal Blade

Base Item: Chainsaw Sword, damage: Str +2d8 AP 2

Type of Item: A sleek, but slightly odd looking sword, that when you look at it, you can't quite grasp the shape of the blade.

Enchantments (Two Major, Two Minor)
Minor: +1 Fighting[/i])
Minor: +1 to Parry
Major: Vorpal Cut: On a Wound or better result (after Soak) on a Called Shot to the head/vitals (-4), the target must roll Vigor or begin bleeding out. They take one Wound after d6 rounds, then must make another or have the process continue. It only stops when either they die, they succeed at the Vigor roll, or they heal the most recent Wound taken. This does not affect targets who are immune to Called Shots to those regions.
