Thinking maybe 17th April if we have at least 3 or 4 players by then.
Looks like there are two already, possibly three but we'll see who else we have next week.

Actually more likely you'll never change off your GM account. If you hit the question mark icon to the right of a post you can change posters for an individual post. On the Classic side I rarely log into my player accounts. Basically only when I get email notification of a PM. since we've gone to using chat more often, I don't get even those that much. So 90% of the time I am on my GM account and changing poster for the individual game. And I'm hardly alone. It's simply easier to do.

Re: OOC Chat Thread
hello to both of you. I have now transferred Savant across. Hopefully we will have a couple more players shortly to start next week.
Unlike the other games, I don't intend for you to start at Castle Refuge. There will be an initial post from and a chance for all the players to do an interlude before we get started properly.
I will also dish out some adventure cards. One to start and one for the interlude. Those of you who are only novice will get to choose which one to keep and discard the other. Seasoned characters will keep both

Looks like a few new characters are getting done in the recruitment forum, so we might be able to start next week.
I will post up a link to the adventure deck in a separate post for people to roll on.

I was following the guidelines of including a Notice roll with every post, but one of the dice aced. How do you do dice acing in play by post? If I edit the post to add an extra die for acing, will the original post reroll and no longer be an ace? Do I manually mark it as the original was a 6, or do I make a post out of character in a location like this?
PS: I know in this case it may not really matter as we are doing interludes. But wanted to ask so I am compliant in the future.

The good news is, the original roll remains intact when you Edit the post. Just make sure you don't monkey with the original parts of the post.
What I usually do is use the OOC tag at the point where I'm rolling, put all the rolls (along with any notation of bonuses or penalties that I'm aware of, or other gamespeak info that's important to the post) in there, check for success/failure and aces, then edit the post with any aced rolls if necessary, then adding any additional In Character text that obviously comes out of success or failure outside the OOC tags.

How do you do an OCC tag? I'm working on an edit of my original post. I've got a couple more paragraphs so far. details about Mica's arival on Rifts Earth from Robotech Earth. not to much on the Robotech side.
Re: OOC Chat Thread
There's a button for the OOC tag up in the text controls for the post, along with all the other formatting buttons. Just click it, and you get the open and close tags; put whatever you want in the OOC bit between those.Mica Nowel wrote:How do you do an OCC tag? I'm working on an edit of my original post. Lol, that's funny. I did not notice the buttons. From my phone I have been finding someone who uses the feature I want and using "quote" button and copying the command lines into the Google doc I prepare my post in.

Kidemónas, your toughness should be 34 (18) unless you have a Hindrance that lowers your toughness. It is based off of the d8 Vitality, Size+6, etc.

As per Savage Worlds Deluxe your characters Armor value goes in parentheses. This is the amount that can be bypassed by Armor Piercing effects.
Does the site specify some other format?

Re: OOC Chat Thread
Option 1: Pennywise driving her APV with Savant inside; Mica in Bike Mode; Kidemónas walking/flying alongside.
Upside: Everyone is in a position to act if they run into trouble.
Downsides: Savant has no Drive Skill, so Pennywise is at a -2 to operate the Mark II Mountaineer (it's got a Crew requirement of 2); also, overland travel speed is limited to Kidemónas' flight speed, at most.
Option 2: Pennywise and Mica operating the Mountaineer; Kidemónas (in human form) and Savant in passenger seats; Mica's Power Armor in bike mode in the storage area of the APV.
Upsides: Faster overland travel, no Driving penalty.
Downsides: Takes us awhile to get into 'fight mode'; uses up all of Kidemónas' 'human time' in the course of driving, meaning we end up having to take a dragon into towns.
I can see a case for either, obviously, but I think that, unless we have a specific time-frame in which we need to get from A to B, Option 1 is probably the best for casual patrol/travel. We'd mainly use Option 2 for tricky travel conditions (heavy rains being the most common), when it would be useful to have a full crew.

Quick note: I believe that Savant's radar sense defeats normal invisibility (mainly because of the description of true invisibility, which states explicitly that the normal version doesn't affect enhanced/non-visual senses). However, as a downside, Savant also doesn't actually know that the Brodkil's gone invisible, so unless it's crawling on top of the APV or something of that nature, she's not likely to specifically challenge it. (FREX: If it's running off to get reinforcements/warn others, she'll just figure it's running away, and worry more about the ones still posing a threat.)

As a note, I will need to know how many Brodkil I was able to get in the area of effect? I just learned that damage is rolled versus each target in the area of effect individually (on pegincforum.com) meaning I was doing it wrong.Kidemónas wrote:Corrigon,

Looking at the rules for "Games Without Miniatures on SW Deluxe page 74 it is 1d3 in a small template, 2d4 in a medium template and 2d6 in a large. However, the total area of 2" x 4" (8 square inches) rectangle is smack in the middle of a small burst (2" diameter is 3.1416") and a medium burst (4" diameter is 12.566"). So I think 1d6 is reasonable? If you agree I can roll damage for the following number of targets. Then again as a GM you may have visualized them splitting up in some way so perhaps only half are in the area? Let me know and I will roll damage for that many targets.
Also I would like to benny the low damage roll I already made, but not sure how benny expenditures are handled.
Targets affected: [dice]0[/dice] divide by 2 round up if you decide 1d3 is more rational than 1d6.
lol, end result is only 1 target affected either way.

I just realized I cheated myself out of the initiative in turn one. I forgot I had Danger Sense and rolled a 10 on my notice, so I should have started the turn on hold. It was not part of my idea for the character and was instead a result of the HJ rolls so I totally forgot about it. Next time if I forget and one of you remembers will you remind me?
For this round, when my action comes up I plan and yelling out to Savant that one of them went invisible and we cannot tell where he is. Then I will help get rid of one of these Brodkil.

minor question which might make things difficult. so technically I am in a vehicle with exposed crew. with exposed crew, crew get no armor bonus from a crew critical hit. so the first question is, did they get a critical hit.
next question, do their weapons do mega damage?
I need to make notation on the cyclone and CVR-3 that they are MDC armor. I think this got may have been overlooked. I'll make a thread for the cyclones.

Absolutely Family always first.
When you do post the update, can you pleat give a rough map update? I was thinking to use my breath weapon last time, but was worried about line of fire and accidentally hitting an ally. it would be cool to know while writing up my intents if it is possible.

Re: OOC Chat Thread
I do not recall if Clint has made a ruling on if Dragon's infravision can see Invisibility. (I know it cannot see True Invisibility and definitely suffers the full penalty there.)
As such I made my post assuming that Dragon's infravision does not allow seeing the brodkil. If you recall a ruling being made, and it is in the dragon's favor then the result would be the same outcome as cone of flame on the brodkil, but it is not enough to shake it, so mechanically no real change. Unless the bodkil is running, then my text can be edited.
PS: I think Savant had Quick, if so she needs a new card.

In addition to the new initiative card, I have a question--we now have two invisible Brodkil, one just turned and one who flickered out almost immediately, and started down the bank. Are they both moving in the same direction? It'll matter for deciding how Savant deals with the situation.

One started moving away pretty much the second Kidemónas landed. The other has moved towards the bridge

Re: OOC Chat Thread
No, that was the attack she'd get on the Brodkil when it turned invisible and withdrew from her to run across the bridge. Here's the sequence:Corrigon wrote:Savant, you do realise that you already posted a turn
So at this point, Brodkil 2 was dead, Brodkil 1 was still adjacent to Savant.Savant Round 2 wrote: Savant ducks under the attack from the Brodkil (#1), allowing it to glance off the back of her armor, and instead of trying to deal with him, lunges around him, to get at the one with the cybernetic legs (#2), hoping to catch that one off-guard--and, not incidentally, pin both of them down so neither can withdraw without her getting another shot in. Of course, as the blow swings at the fiend, she gets the feeling she's only going to have to worry about one of them....
Savant twirled around the Brodkil she was fighting (#1) and struck the Brodkil shooting at Mica from behind (#2), chainsword cutting upwards between its legs. The Brodkil screamed in pain for a second before collapsing to the floor twitching.
At this point, B1 draws a free attack (SWD pg 79), unless he's got Evasion; he'd probably been relying on the Invisibility to prevent that, not realizing that, as an Altaran, she could 'see' him.Brodkil 1 drew out his vibrosword, though not as quickly as he'd like and smiled evilly, swinging a blow at the dragon’s claws beside him, intent on severing one as a trophy, but his blow is impeded by the amount of mud thrown into the air by Kidemonas' attack and misses the large claw before. Before anybody else can react, it also disappears from sight.
So she makes a failed free strike.
Then, on her initiative on Round 3, made the move and attack. The unfortunate thing, though, is that B4 is probably going to have time to get away.End of Round 2 Savant free Strike wrote: As the Brodkil cockily assumes that being invisible will prevent a pre-emptive strike by Savant, she quickly swings to dissuade him of that belief.... and soundly smacks him on the rump, again, with the flat of the blade.
"I, uh, still meant to do that."
Round 3 Savant wrote:Savant considers the situation carefully; one of the Brodkil is halfway to gone, but the other is almost on top of Penny and the kid, and both are invisible. She's pretty sure an invisible Brodkil can do a LOT of damage by taking time to line up the shot... Damn
She lunges after the one on the bridge, neither attacking from behind, nor moving around in the same way she did last time, but leaping up at the last moment and coming down with the sword at the thing's head, as she screams, "Death from above!"

Re: OOC Chat Thread
When in out of combat situations what is the board rule for posting?
Is it like in combat where I need to wait until everyone has posted or is it like in a normal RP group where you can post RP post in response to other's words?

By-the-by, someone a little smarter and less insane than Savant might want to realize that they've left a batch of weapons scattered about--three laser rifles and chainswords could be used as salvage, or maybe turned over to the townsfolk for self-defense.

Re: OOC Chat Thread
Kid has already grabbed some a sword (unless Corrigon vetoes the idea). That is all he will be taking from them. His claws are actually better than a vibro-sword so I think it is more of a RP, cool looking thing than a practical implement. I think I better re-post to ensure that I include taking harness or whatever is needed to carry them.Savant wrote:By-the-by, someone a little smarter and less insane than Savant might want to realize that they've left a batch of weapons scattered about--three laser rifles and chainswords could be used as salvage, or maybe turned over to the townsfolk for self-defense.
@Corrigon, what kind of swords did you intend the Brodkil to have?
PS: I will have to re-read Corrigon's post, I thought they were Vibro-swords. But chain swords are way better.

I need to put together my signature thing like everyone else seems to have done with character info. I'll try to work that up tomorrow. My eyes and head are killing me right now.

He was a True Atlantean mystic warrior who was with Kidemònas his first four weeks. As he is the first person who did not flee in terror or try to kill him. Kidemònas considers him his first and best friend. But he was lost in a Rift.
His back story is Kidemònas was told endless stories of Greek heroes, indoctrinating him into wanting to be a hero himself in the fashion if Heracles, Jason, and Odisias

Quick question before posting a reply to Heracles' arrival, actually:
I know it's the proper spelling, but I honestly have no idea about the proper pronunciation at this point. Is it pretty much identical to the English/American "Herk-yu-leez", or is it more like it's spelled, "Hair-ah-cleez"? Or something else entirely, say, "Fred"?
(Sorry, that's a personal in-joke. I've long maintained that Gaelic is a prank played on the English by the Scottish, Irish and Welsh, where they'd just jam a string of consonants together, with a 'y' in there occasionally, and make up the pronunciation on the spot. "Oh, aye, that Dwnnynnd, or as we say, 'Fred'.")
