I am thinking that demons poky stick will be the perfect size for Kidemonas.
But as to the rest of the gear we will need a list from you Corrigon.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Kidemonas wants it all placed in a pile so he can just lay on it for a while. Not forever though, the group can have it to divide in a thousand years or so.

@GM,
Can the Armor, Bracers, and Sword adjust to fit any of us, or only someone the same size as the Demon? Everyone is too small and Kidemonas would be too big for most by default.

None of you know what the shield the bird is talking about unless there is something TW you haven't found. There is nothing in the area around the nexus.

If Freya is successful
When Freya saw the leyline up close when they were at the fadetown, the leyline now looks the same as it did then. Now she thinks about it, there was something off about the leyline before, but she can’t put her finger on it.
I think that weird thing in the opening scene with Freya and Whitehoof is related to this? But Kidemonas never saw it or knew of it.

We might also want to evaluate the possibility that some or all are potentially corrupting. That said....

I think the bracers should be able to fit Kid's true form, at least. I believe the sword has been stated to be able to be wielded two-handed by anyone with the strength. No clue on the armor.

Alex did say in hangout that anyone with Str d12 could wield it, but I figured it could better go here where people other than the couple in that chat during that window could read it.
That begs the question, being several sizes larger and 5 steps stronger than the minimum could Kid wield it one handed?

I agree, this is definitely something someone with a Detect Arcana should look into. Kid however is not the person for that job.
Heracles wrote:Yes because Kid wants all the loot every time we get loot and gets first pick every time in his mind. Lol
Lol,
First pick would imply that others are allowed some of the loot!
Corrigon wrote:I am sure that the demonic armour could be made to fit kid
I was not sure how that works, I think Gar’thul is size 3, but Kidemonas is 6 and will be 7 on January 1st (real date).
Kidemonas cannot benefit from worn armor, so it would only be aesthetic and he relies on shape changing and the armor would totally bork that.

Assuming all the gear checks out as non-soul-warping Ring of Sauron stuff, and also assuming that we can make whoever get fit with whatever, my thoughts:

Fully half the party (Kid, Savant, White Hoof and Heracles) can at least theoretically use the Sword (Heracles needs to have his armor on to get the necessary Strength). I do think Savant's the best choice for that particular item, simply because she's the most skilled at Fighting, though the rest of you would all do slightly more damage with it when you do hit, so it might be a wash.

Assuming the Bracers are defensive in nature, and that they can be sized to fit anyone, I'd say just about anyone could benefit from them. Kaylee and Pennywise are both very squishy and lack the strength to really armor up effectively (at least until we can afford T-11s for them both), so they might be the best bets there.

For the Armor, I would've said White Hoof, but he's a 'Borg and they don't get to use Armor. Kid seems the best choice--especially if Freya can give it the same enchantment his Bracers have, so it resizes with his body. Having some serious armor to wear when passing for human would be useful. If not Kid, then see if it can be pared down so that the other Squishy Lady (whoever didn't get the Bracers) would be a good fit.

Again, ALL of this assumes we're not dealing with a Ring of Sauron situation here. That definitely needs to be checked out, probably by Langdon (Detect Arcana, preferably Exalted) and Savant (using Divination once she's stopped rocking back and forth in a dark corner, staring at the ceiling).

So... if Freya wants to build a power station "by herself" (and maybe the others help doing the heavy lifting) can she? Extra to the 8 points we have? Can he do something else besides it? What does she need to roll?
The current details for the town can be found here

http://savagerifts.com/sr/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1619

The town already has a power station, though not a large one. I hadn't planned on players also wanting to do upgrades. Considering making any upgrade done by PCs take two quads as you do have other duties and go off on missions.

The items mentioned on both the request from Elia and on the garnet Town upgrade thread are the current list I have come up with. As no good idea survives first contact with players :P if you have ideas of items to add to the lists, please let me know

So Freya can't make improvements? Even with her edges that speed up the work?
I accept we mustn't let her do "all the work", but building and fixing is her thing (remember, she don't fight). If she is unable to build, and as she is unwilling to fight, she is not very useful.

Excellent!
How much? She has her ability to "create items" that she can use x times by "session". Is that a good maximum number?

I believe that power is mainly for use making short-term devices (that fail at the end of the quarter). The town-upgrade list is what a team of dedicated engineers can build over the course of 3 months. Freya, as part of the SET, is doing a lot of field work rather than focusing on the town upgrades. With the 'one every two quads' idea, she's literally doing as much in six months, in her downtime, as a full-time team of engineers could accomplish in three. That's not insignificant--it's a fifty percent increase in the town's capacity for construction, all because of her.

a power supply for the town isn't hard. we just need to find some giant robot somewhere, beat it up and take it's nuclear engine.

Not the one in our friend's robot of course.

So can she or can't she do things?
One thing every two months?
Can she use her ability, even if temporarily, to "jump start" things?

She can create something every two quads, though it would be with the assistance of other technically competent members of the team assisting like Mica.

Her ability to create temporary powers is not connected to creating permanent upgrades for the town and area.

It would be at minimum also using up that ability and not being able to use it on adventures, which I can't imagine your squadmates would be happy about.

Do we have an opportunity to spend our cash? Savant really wants a big sword, and since the demon-gear had to get offloaded, it seems like a Chain Greatsword is her best option.

Oh, and how would you prefer Poor Hindrance be handled?

1: End of Session. This is the RAW, but that's for tabletop where loot is typically calculated at the end fo the evening, anyway.

2: Point of Payment. Essentially, any funds I get are cut in half immediately, and we ignore the end-of-session halving.

I'm honestly not certain which is more forgiving of the two.

#1 means I have a window of opportunity to make necessary purchases (like a Chain Greatsword) before I lose my cash. However, it makes stockpiling nigh-impossible, since any money I have 'banked' also gets cut in half at the end of the Quarter (so any leftovers are constantly being reduced).

#2 means I have to build reserves more slowly, but would leave the loot from prior adventures untouched. So patience can overcome the Hindrance, with enough time.

Hard number example:

Savant currently has 200 Cr. She just now received 27,320 more.

Under #1, I could buy a Great Chainsword right now for 18,500 Cr, leaving her with 9,020 Cr, which would get combined with any loot/pay earned during December, until we get a final tally that then gets halved.
Under #2, she immediately loses 13,660, but then that money sticks around, to be added to whatever funds come her way in the future.

And if it matters, Savant's specific Poor Hindrance is a result of her tending to gamble it foolishly (she doesn't actually know or really care about the rules of the games, so she gets fleeced pretty easily), or spend lots of money on literally insane things (FREX: she buys up a massive amount of chicken-wire to put over any possible point of entry for birds, including the fireplace and windows--not just on her own digs, but also on the command center, and anyplace she spends much time. Since she lacks any sort of actual construction-related skill, these tend to resemble nothing so much as a bad Boy Scout's balsa wood bridge design.).

Note: Langdon did NOT crit-fail his Persuasion roll. That takes a 1 on both dice (and if he had crit-failed his first roll, he wouldn't have been able to try to benny his way out of it). Also, his Charisma bonus applies to both the skill die and the Wild die. So his Wild Die on the first roll was a 10--I doubt you'd even bother with a benny at that point...

Persuasion has a caveat that if the Trait die is a 1 (regardless of wild die) then reaction drops 2 levels. So that is why he re-rolled and is calling it a critical failure.

Savant wrote:Do we have an opportunity to spend our cash?

Not sure I've seen this defined anywhere on site.

I'm inclined on site to go with option 2 where by each time you receive money, you half what you receive, but keep the rest. Best to discuss this in the GM forum. Simpler option on site

a comment on the pay. Our pay is bankrolled into an account at Legion Headquarters? that maybe should be considered when dealing with the poor hindrance. As Savant hasn't actually physically received the pay yet. If it is at end of session, should they have the opportunity to spend it before the end of session?

For our purpose, I am in favor of it being set at end of quarter as a standard and to keep it simple. If you reduce it on receive, then how do you track the reduction at end of quarter? That would make it more complex.

That's just it--it would be one or the other, end of quarter or on-receipt. They have different impacts, depending.

Oh, for the Interlude scene, would the significance of the tattoos be potentially Common Knowledge for someone from Atlantis (such as an Altaran)--perhaps on a Raise? Obviously, it would be at the standard -2 for the racial hindrance, but I didn't want to roll without confirming, first.

you rolled a 2+7 (9 total) on the wild die. you didn't crit fail, I think you actually got a raise.

Standard Target Number is 4
4 or better is a success, for every additional 4 over the target number, is a raise.

quoting from Savage Worlds Deluxe
The Wild Die
Extras roll a single die as described above. But Wild Cards roll an extra d6 and take the highest of their normal die or the "Wild Die" when making skill or attribute rolls. Wild Dice are rolled just like the Trait die, and can Ace as well.
Critical Failure. The downside is that snake-eyes (double 1s) on one of these rolls is a critical failure. The GM gets to make up something rotten to happen to your character. That's the price Fate charges for making someone a hero.

Unfortunately the Persuasion skill has special rules that say a 1 on the skill dye (regardless of wild dye) is an auto-fail.

Not quite:
SWD wrote:Failure, on the other hand, decreases
the character’s attitude by a step, or two if a 1 is rolled on the
Persuasion die (regardless of the Wild Die).
Note that the word "Failure" applies to the whole sentence. In other words, IF you Fail a Persuasion check, AND you rolled a 1 on the Skill die, THEN you lose two steps on the kids. In this, it's like the the Innocent Bystanders rule for Shooting--IF you roll a 1 on the Skill die, AND your overall roll was a Fail, THEN you hit someone else.

Yes, this means a high-Charisma character only suffers this setback on a CritFail. I think that's how the rule was built, though.

Out of character I totally know that it does not fit the traditional vampire profile. But I figured Kidemonas would not know.

If you were making a big bricky dragon would you think it is better to have:
a) d12+8 Strength and d8 Vigor
or
b) d12+6 Strength and d12 Vigor
This is for Kidemonas, a sort of one trick pony

The medical report, the meetings with the mayor and doctors
In fact reread the interlude thread and look for any incongruities and outright info.

That covers the creature and a few other bits. The quarry thread and the finale hint at other things.

It seems everyone agrees with that. Strange as I always considered Vigor the closest to a dump stat in Savage Worlds. (Rarely have to make Vigor rolls and when you do the penalties are always so high it may as well be auto failure. Unless you have Hard to Kill and Harder to Kill like Humble.)

But at least now I have a 37 Toughness, which is a record for any character I even played and that is cool.

Well, a d12 will still pass a 3-Wound Incapacitation roll 50% of the time--that's nothing to sneeze at.

Smarts is the usual dump-stat, I've found, unless you're playing a Smarts-based character, in which case it's usually Strength. (It's even better to buy Brawny than to go from d4 to d6 Strength.... 32 vs 30 Encumbrance capacity, and you get the Toughness bump thrown in.)

I see three options for dealing with the Coalition.

Attack
Sneak in and snatch the book
Use the communications to trick the Coalition into leaving

I am in favor of sneak and snatch the book. Kidemonas would be in favor of attacking (which I believe is the most foolish and highest risk approach).

No risk, no reward.

Does anyone have invisibility or something like that? I am leery of trying to just sneak in with good stealth rolls. I mean, Heracles has Shroud running but that's expensive to leave running while trying to be slow and sneaky.

Out of character (someone else should suggest this in-character, since Savant would be unlikely to), invisibility could be done by Freya on a gizmo. If wielded by a Master (Psionic or Of Magic, whichever), this would then grant True Invisibility--which is utterly necessary if you want to sneak in past guys with thermal sensors.

Beyond that, I do think the stealth option is probably the best, possibly followed by tricking them into leaving (though doing so without them realizing the book is gone would be tricky, at best).

Langdon might have Master of Magic and Kidemonas can have it for an hour if needed. But his stealth is only d4 I think

If you have Master, you don't really need Stealth--you're immune to any form of detection other than Detect Arcana. Were there Dogboys/Psi-Stalkers present? If so, that moves us away from getting away with sneak-and-swipe.

Dragon Complication of Shoot First at this guy + Heavy Rail Gun = 4d10+4 AP 18 = Dead Dragon

Combined with the lighter armaments = Run out of bennies and crying on the floor trying to figure out what happened.

PS: If you guys want to risk it I am still all for it. Afterall Big Risk = Big Reward

Well Heracles may be A Crazy but he is not normally suicidal.

He CAN taken on the Enforcer if he loads up on Psionic powers and Loses It before he jumps in - but I don't know that he can take it down by himself or anything, especially not with how my dice luck tends to run. I mean, Smite, Boost Toughness, maybe Boost Strength as well, Deflection...plus Berserk. Savant is bad ass. Kid could distract it at the very least, maybe kill it.

However, the Dragon and both Crazies hitting the Enforcer all at one time? That might not be a bad way to go. Slam that thing hard and fast while the rest of the group takes on the soldiers and/or goes after the book?

I'm honestly not sure that Savant has anything that could crack the UAR-1, at least not without some exploding damage dice.

14 guys and a UAR does not look like an idea fight even though we are pretty strong. especially when we have to dedicate additional people to that robot. the rest of us have to deal with everyone else. and everyone else may also be attacking those attacking the robot. we are also down one person atm as well.

I guess what we really do need in the squad is a robot pilot or glitter boy.

As fate would have it, I drew a card that causes a major malfunction. Could I use it to shut the UAR-1 down? With it out of commission this is a much easier fight.

So I read Corrigon's new post and I saw that the options were COMBAT or Flee Like Cowards. So we're fighting, right? LOL!

What's the consensus on course of action? Fight or Flee, or try to sneak (which several people have said they aren't good at)?

Does not have to be detailed, just something so we know how long it takes to cross distances. A battle with 4 rounds of being shot at and not being able to attack would make us inclined to run, while a battle close enough to allow engagement within a turn or two would encourage attacking.

If not a map, even the following distances would help for deciding our course of action:

Soldiers to tree line, tree line to woods group, and woods group to rear group. If it's not a fairly straight line through the middle group, then distance from soldiers to rear group is probably useful, too.

The camp is approximately 200 feet away from the edge of the woods where most of the squad are hidden.

Heracles and Langdon are approximately 20 feet away from the camp in the long grass. You are both currently prone hiding in the grass, unless previously indicated otherwise.

Currently only two soldiers are between them and the woods; one diagonally to the left (as looking at the camp) about forty feet away towards the woods. The other is about ten feet away in front of them.

The Coalition forces have no cover currently.

It is mid-afternoon in bright sunshine so there are no visibility issues.

The team in the woods are about ten feet inside the woods.

So guys if I charge I can cover 200' in two turns. But that means in Turn 1 the UAR1 has about a 75% chance of killing me on the way (minus Soak rolls of course). But once I get in close most of his weapons become useless and I think Kidemonas could take him if I live for my second turn.

I say we attack, what do you say? I do not want them chasing us and shooting us as we run unable to defend ourselves.
Assumptions
Two pilots both extras each shooting two weapon systems needing a 4 or high to hit (targeting systems let them ignore the -2 MAP), but doing a crap ton of damage if they do, and me spending a benny on Extra Effort to avoid the medium missiles because they are simply powerful.

Savant can cover 78-108' per round, depending on her Run Die. So yeah, probably 3 turns of being out in the open--unless Kid wants to give her a lift, to help it cut down to two rounds.

So, punk-rock sword-swinging nutjob on top of a Dragon? We gonna go full Heavy Metal Magazine cover on these guys?

Freya, as a pacifist, wouldn't fight in any case.
As an option, shan can erect her force field, and also create a "gizmo" that lure the Coalition people away, giving us time to escape.

Mega-Barrier has Smarts x2 Range. For her, that's 24" = 192'. Would she be willing to move two squares forward and place a forcefield directly in front of the UAR?

(Note: How you feel about enabling the attacking of others, as a Pacifist, is up to you, with Corrigan's opinion on the matter having considerable weight, of course. One possibility--agree to put up a barrier to intercept the weapons-fire on the opening round, but don't place it so close to the UAR that it takes damage if the pilot fires the missiles. (If you weren't a Pacifist, that would totally be my recommendation, but a Major Pacifist would probably feel uncomfortable even with that much.)

She would be willing to move and use her force field.

She don't like to fight, but understands it when the need is up. She won't stop her friends from defending themselves (and her). And she would do whatever she can to help them and protect them (avoiding combat as far as possible).

She is a lover, not a figther. She will make gizmos to help, and not directly "fire" against the enemy.
