Signature Item Rules

How do Signature Item Rules need to change in light of the SWADE version of Savage Rifts?

Per the EP menu, they’re Heroic level items. Not sure what else you mean (though I’m sure you mean more than just that).

Yep,
Just go RAW Heroic level items.

Delete all house rules for variants and alternate item creation.

2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

So no house rule love for Weird Science then. However, I take it this mean only Enchanted or TW Items will be available for Patron Items then? That's disappointing.

Maybe say

"Enchanted Items can be retrapped as Weird Science, using the WS power list."

But non of this complex non SW style approach that stinks of overly complex Palladium think is my vote.

This is why I would say simply allow Major and Minor item creation for Weird Science like it was.

A simple house rule of no more than two sentences. But I am 100% against another complex system.

As long as it follows the rules of being enchanted or TW, it really doesn't matter how it's trapped. Psi-Tech items can be built as TW items, but they are default powered by ISP. Likewise advanced tech items can be built as enchanted items and simply be described as advanced tech items. No fuss, no muss. What I wanted was in writing that we had agreed on a level; First I heard Heroic, then I heard Veteran; I just want it confirmed so we know.

I 100% agree with this.

PS: Heroic is what @Venatus Vinco already ruled on this issue. Not sure if he is entertaining a change. But I vote heroic

My only concern with the “trapped as advance science” is the power points. I know Rob came up with a system for his games that they recharge like e-clips, and we’ll need some kind of easy to follow rules for recharging that doesn’t get too much into the weeds.

A regenerating power source is totally super science and makes it work just like TW and magic items.

Since items do not meditate in my games that is represented by plugging them into a power cell where they recharge at the normal recharge rate of power plants. A mechanically it is the exact same however flavor wives it fits technology

@RFT

Draft the text for Science Items and I'll just add it to the item creation forum and be done with it.

No debating.

Cool, I will finish it very soon. Tonight our tomorrow.
  • 2D6 EFFECT

Re: Signature Item Rules

Other than Super Science we will go with RaW for TW and Enchanted Items.

We will use Heroic level for powers/edges etc.

For enchanted items edges do not require power points, they are always active. Powers require a built in pool of points to activate.

Is there anything left to debate?

Given how magic tattoo weapons work I would like to change

Any GM objections?

Balitrox….I mean I approve whole-heartedly. But I also think it’s a fine edit balance wise. Especially if it lines up with upcoming content.

I like this and think it will balance perfectly with the other stuff.
