Account Status Tracker-The only place to announce an absence

This is the only legitimate reference of record for announcing expected and emergency absences from the board.

We don't require intimate details.

Just inform the community how long you expect the absence to be, and which accounts this absence will effect.

If your absence ends up being longer than initially expected, post an update to let us know.

"I don't know when" is never a valid time-frame, and such will be not be excused.

    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Due to a variety of factors (my living situation, various things going on atm, etc) I find myself exhausted at the idea of logging in to post right now. It doesn't help that I am rarely able to get on my computer before 2 hours before I have to go to bed and I simply run out of time before I can get the creative juices running. So it is with a heavy heart that I put my PCs on hiatus until the end of the holiday slowdown (Jan 4). I do not wish to abdicate my slots as yet, though I will understand if I am given no choice by my GMs. I will be maintaining my GM accounts, starting with a post tonight for each of the two games I run (one EU, one Savage). I am sorry it took so long to come out and say that.

I regret to say that due to significant changes, I will no longer be able to participate in this wonderful community. I enjoyed my time and hope to one day return, but this will not be in the forseeable future. I am truly sorry about the game I am GMing, please award the Deadlands group the maximum possible for this quarter and distribute my EP equally among the players in that group.

Hey guys.
I want to keep my GM games and will have a lot less time this quarter with the upcoming major turnaround in March/April. Combined with moving and needing to do the work involved in selling my old home while fixing up the new home.

I will need to withdrawal from a few of my player accounts. I will be PMing the GM's for the games I am holding back the most.
I will be keeping Kidemonas, Ndreare, and Thomas active.

Unfortunately that means Echo, Humble, Gill, Walker, and Que will need to be retired for a while.

I have been absent for several weeks. I apologize to everyone affected, especially to those in the 77th. I also cannot thank Pender enough for keeping the game rolling through my absence. I will be returning in full force this weekend...ish.

I am in the process of moving to Louisiana while still working in Texas. Also from time to time returning to my roomates' house in Texas for my things and such. That should be wrapped up a week or two into March. Then I will begin looking for a local job. Then starting a new job!

If it wasn't already apparent, that left me without enough time to handle 10 characters plus co-GMing my own game. Instead of handling the situation responsibly prior to now, I didn't handle it. So, now I am handling it.

This should not affect the 77th (more than it already has). I will continue (or resume) playing my characters Sroxl, Tito, and Nyx in Shaintar, New West and Dresden respectively. I will try to play Everett Jackson in the 12th as well, but if I still struggle I will put him on hiatus.

Unfortunately, that leaves me currently unable to play Kir Gloryspirit in Vampire Kingdoms, Rika Tsuchiya in the 24th, or Clayton Hodge in Nightbane. When life settles, I hope I can resume some or all of those games in the future if there is space available and I am welcome back. None of these choices indicate displeasure with those GMs, the story, or the players.

I won't be returning to Digit Havoc in Shattered Dreams, Malcom Young in Phase World: Remorseless, or Blitz in Titan Effect. Those character's can be considered retired or what have you. I've spoken with these GM's, and as above it does not reflect any aspect of those games or anyone involved.

I appologize again for how I have handled things, and I will do my best to make up for it going forward.

I hope it's not permanent, this site (well, EU, SR is still pretty new after all) has been part of my life for a long time and lots of cool friends around these parts.

If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

Hey Rifters,

I have been absent during the week days this past week (July 29 thru Aug 2). I knew my schedule was going to change, just did not know when.

My posting for games I am in and Vauxhall Knights will be confined to Friday evenings, Saturday, and some Sunday days, for the foreseeable future. I will not be withdrawing from any game unless the character dies or the GM decides my activity is insufficient.

On a side note, I role play to cope with stressful situations. My wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in October of last year 2018. I am so grateful for the Savage Rifts site and community. You helped me keep my shit together.

We got through Chemo, Surgery, and Laser Radiation, with the final treatments wrapping up today. I have been aggressively seeking work and a means to get back into the workforce, hence my abscence.

More later, but short version is due to an impromptu job search and move, the time I have for gaming will be severely limited. At minimum it’s the next month, likely closer to 2. Once I’m stable again I’ll be back with a vengeance. If someone wants to take over the CS game, they can. Otherwise I’ll revamp and rerelease it once I’m back and SWADE SR is fully out. I’ll be on chat, but that’s about it. I am sorry but right now I have to focus on my family.

My apologies to folks for my absence.

I’ve been tied up with extra work at work ( trying to avoid potential layoffs at two others on the team, including the manager, left due to “retirement” in the last 3 weeks). My performance also determines if I get an extra bonus right before Christmas. With the loss of the manager I got along with and his manager becoming our team manager it’s been frustrating and not allowing for much of an RP focus.

I’m working on catching up Zephrim and Thor, but may be tomorrow before get a coherent post up....

Dynamic Backlash Table
  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!
