This thread is for feature requests and to report problems. There is no guarantee you will get any other features before the new board software can be rolled out.

If you have a problem, IM and PM VV and I about it as well.

I have really no idea...

I am going to say no...

This is a tough one to get a hold of... and that is trying to deal with the whole, what colors work with other colors. Blue just doesn't work on Black, it's just too dark. But a lighter/brighter blue doesn't look good on lighter backgrounds.

We can probably do that.

Make sure your signatures are limited though. It should reflect what is most important about the character. What is the character count that you think is appropriate?

It seems to be about half the count that is allowed on EU. I like EU's sig sizes.

1) Is it possible to Give GM's the ability to edit other peoples signatures? A lot of players do not keep their up to date and i have to deal with the extra effort of a tracking spreadsheet. it would be good to be able to help people out by populating theirs for them (and make sure they are in OOC tags and help out my players who have trouble with staying on top of their signatures.

2) Is it possible to remove the limit to 5 hyper links in signatures? I was hyper linking where I spent and gained bennies until I exceeded the limits. But if i had them back that would be awesome.

The only way to do that is to be an administrator Rob.

I know currently. However as someone who works with DBs and as a former DB administrator I know there are a lot of permissions that can be assigned by creating roles with permissions.

Sometimes all it takes is investigating. Other times it just is not possible. I am hoping this is more the former and less that later.

No, I mean the interface to do so is only available from the admin control panel to my knowledge. It can't be done in the main interface.

Thank you.

Now that we have standardized the expectation for signatures to be in OOC tag, I do not think it will hurt to have larger ones or multiple links.

I have been having an issue where emails are not being sent to me when people post.

Mike has also reported signing up for a new account and no email comes to him for activation.

Johnathan also has had email issues with emails not being consistent sometimes he gets them and other times not.

I have to admit, I am surprised that the e-mail functionality is actually working.

Right now SavageRifts is sitting on a VPS, with no mail server. The database is sitting on a hosted domain. And the e-mail is going through the hosted domain's mail server. Wonkiness was expected.

Now I am working on migrating SavageRifts back to the hosted domain, but it's taking me a lot longer than I anticipated (mainly because I don't have any time to work on it). But once it's migrated back (with newer board software), you should see some massive improvements.

Strangely last night I got about 20 emails for all the threads. So something must have auto-magically happened in the background.

RFT - that is good to know. There can be hiccups in the system, as EMail is not real time. EMail messages could be held on a variety of mail servers throughout the world, waiting for a log jam to clear and let them through. This did happen last night, so it may have been the cause:
Brief disconnection event
May 30 2018 12:20:41 AM PT
A short while ago, we experienced a temporary (approximately 1-minute-long) interruption in Seattle related to our troubleshooting of a serious routing problem caused by an upstream issue (INAP). This routing problem caused many scheduled payments to fail this morning.

We have worked around the problem and do not expect further interruptions.
Now, I understand this caused a payment issue on their end. But Mail servers tend to get ignored if they are not the primary mail server, just a hop along the way. Plus this was a routing issue, and a server that normally goes through that route could have been causing a log jam because it couldn't get through it's normal path. I hope this was the fix, but for the most part because we are on a hosted environment, and have limited support - I can't really lean on my provider.

So, here is the deal. If this becomes an issue again I want the following:

What is your EMail Provider when it works?
What is your EMail Provider when it fails?
Is your EMail Provider one of those free hosting ones (Google, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc...)
Is it intermittent?
Are the e-mails in your Spam, Junk, or Clutter folders?
Can you provide the headers of the EMail (if you don't know what it is... don't bother) - if so, send a PM with the information.

I would love it if we used a WYSIWYG editor. They are pretty common, but I do not know if it is compatible with the current vendor.

They also typically include simple table makers.

Strikethrough enabled

Code: Select all

Or, use the "s" button right next to "OOC"

Code: Select all

this is a simple paragraph that is meant to be nice and easy to type which is why there will be mommas no periods or any capital letters so i guess this means that it cannot really be considered a paragraph but just a series of run on sentences this should help you get faster at typing as im trying not to use too many difficult words in it although i think that i might start making it hard by including some more difficult letters I'm typing pretty quickly so forgive me for any mistakes i think that i will not just tell you a story about the time i went to the zoo and found a monkey and a fox playing together they were so cute and i think that they were not supposed to be in the same cage but they somehow were and i loved watching them horse

In the post: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2120#p31510

The bullet list looks correct for the patron item, but upon adding it to the post, all the other bullets stopped working, along with some of the OOC tags and font size tags. I tried reducing the number of nested lists in the patron item to see if there was a limit, but that didn't seem to work either.

Have you folks considered a one-stop-shop macro for SW check rolling that can both explode dice as appropriate and roll a properly modified Wild Die from a single input? These things happen for every attribute and skill check; handling it all automatically would save a lot of keystrokes. My code chops are rusty and I don't know php, but something like...

Code: Select all

User variables: <dieSize>, <checkModifier>

checkResult = 0
dieValue = roll(1d<dieSize>)
checkResult = checkResult + dieValue
for dieValue = <dieSize> until dieValue != <dieSize>
     dieValue = roll(1d<dieSize>)
     checkResult = checkResult + dieValue
checkResult = checkResult + <checkModifier>
wildResult = 0
dieValue = roll(1d6)
wildResult = wildResult + dieValue
for dieValue = 6 until dieValue != 6
     dieValue = roll(1d6)
     wildResult = wildResult + dieValue
wildResult = wildResult + <checkModifier>
if checkResult >3 or wildResult > 3
     then output "Success"
     else output "Failure"

We would LOVE such a thing.

However, phpbb extensions, require more coding knowledge than we have.

If you have a suggested implementation I'd be happy to hear about it.

Hello,

Made some administrative changes.

1) Reverted post editor to old style with no drop down menus.

2) Enabled Quick Reply on all forums

3) Add new poll creation options (show voter, view results without voting, set specific poll end date, etc.)

If you see any bugs please let me know.
