Beyond the Pain
The legendary warriors and supernatural horrors that battle in the world of Nightbane often have the ability to keep on fighting well beyond when they should have fallen.
When spending a benny for a Wild Card to soak one or more wounds or fatigue any success, even if not soaking all of the wounds will prevents the character from being incapacitated regardless of the final number of wounds or fatigue that should have been taken.
With the Wound Cap setting rule from SWADE.
Wound Cap
Use this Setting Rule when you want combat to remain dangerous but reduce the chances of characters (and villains!) dying from a single lucky blow. It can still happen, but it is far more rare.
Characters can never suffer more than four Wounds in a single hit and therefore never have to Soak more than four wounds either.
I am of the belief that the official setting rule is more consistent and easier to stay with.
