GM Poll Fourth and Final Quarter in 2017
GM Poll Fourth Quarter 2017
Black Company members please vote sometime in the last part of December. Starting now is okay.
Lars, Game Master (GM)
How to “rate” the GM, their Duties:
• Post Rate
• Notify Players via Hangouts of new posts.
• Be available to Players
☞ Maintain a GM post rate at a minimum of one adventure post per week.
☞ Have the IM contact info of each player in their group.
☞ Notify all players in the group via IM or PM of new GM posts, and other important updates.
☞ Be available for IM chat at least one day a week.
Note: The above is used to “rate” the GM. I hope that I succeeded you all in the mission of being your GM. Additionally, I hope that I presented a fun game. I look forward to more story with the Black Company. Please, when you vote, post a response saying you voted.
If you are up to it, I’m open to feedback BOTH on how I did as GM, and ALSO any feedback you have on the story. Thank you. - Lars

Voted. Would have to make things up in order to have a complaint.

It is much easier to vote with the clear standards.
, and of course update your signatures!

Just so I am clear on understanding the poll results, at least one player felt Lars' post rate or responsiveness in im chat or on the board was not maintained at the necessary level. I have to say I am curious about that. Lars' seem to be very active posting, sometimes in multiple places, and he is almost always available on google hangouts.

I was also wondering the same thing.Pender Lumkiss wrote:Just so I am clear on understanding the poll results, at least one player felt Lars' post rate or responsiveness in im chat or on the board was not maintained at the necessary level. Re: GM Poll Fourth and Final Quarter in 2017
Disclosure: It wasn't me.
HOWEVER, there's a thing I have with the rating system, and I don't know if it's related to this...but this feels like an opening to talk about it.
I have a small issue with the absolute top of the rating chart equaling "Meeting all expectations." There are times when a GM exceeds expectations that this rating system doesn't have a way to express. When I first started playing here, I avoided using the top ticker because I instinctively reserve the top mark to reflect when someone not only meets the requirements, but goes above and beyond.
Later on, I realized that's not the usage here, so I gritted my teeth and went with the flow. Even now though I still feel like the top rating should be reserved for that kind of exceptional performance.
This isn't a big deal for me, I want to make clear. If it was a big deal, I'd have said something about it in one of the general forum threads, not this one. And I'd have said it a long time ago.
I do wonder however if there's someone else who is operating with a similar sense of how the rating system ought to work?

I actually prefer that way also.Alecto wrote:I do wonder however if there's someone else who is operating with a similar sense of how the rating system ought to work?
There seemed to be two schools of thought when that came together: 5 means you did what you were supposed and should get the expected award. or 5 means you went above what was expected and should get something more. Then things fall out from there.
That being said, if you feel your GM has gone above and beyond the rating system then recommend him or her for more EP. It's as simple as writing me a PM and giving an example. In this case, just even attempting a cross over is worth a recommendation from each of us!

Re: GM Poll Fourth and Final Quarter in 2017
Truth be told, unless everyone voted a 1 or 2 I would not have really worried about any 3 to 4 votes. 5 is nice but, I don't feel like I do that great a job GMing. But I am what you have, and I do try. I re-wrote the Rate your GM a while ago to point out that it was a "mechanics things", as long as I do A, B, C I did my job, vote based on that, and THEN I wrote in "If you are up to it, I’m open to feedback BOTH on how I did as GM, and ALSO any feedback you have on the story. Thank you." Because after voting I actually do want to get the gift of feedback.
I mentioned this over here: http://savagerifts.com/sr/viewtopic.php ... 15a#p26600
I have been thinking about a new way.
Like what VV has done here: http://savagerifts.com/sr/viewtopic.php ... 15a#p26610
In the end, I imagine next year you'll see modified or alternative Polls. I for one am not worried about what I got number wise in this Poll. Like I say, if I got a 1 or 2 I'd be concerned and ask: Help me guys, how do I do better. I'm not going to add any Polls this time, not sure what I will end up doing next Quarter, but you are welcome to give feedback in this thread.
I have to be honest. Last January I sat down and dreamed up, the bar, the attack on bar the Hell Pit Pillars, Gordon, Gloom etc and set out a outline for it. I actually outlined it in reverse, Giest War backwards, I write stories that way too. Backwards. With the crossover, we did not finish in December as I thought we might, but over this year three things were very rewarding to me:
The Players in the BC, such great writers themselves.
Jon doing the crossover and writing and adding and inventing new aspects to the story, making it better.
Being able to do the entire (almost, not quite done yet) story with you, from Bar to Giest War.
Thanks for Playing, being new friends and making this fun for me.
