  • Best of the Best: Psi-Ghosts have earned their reputation as the best, and no one can match a Psi-Ghost when it comes to sneaking around. All Psi-Ghosts add +2 to Stealth rolls.
  • Bad Reputation: -2 Charisma when dealing with the average person in most towns and cities if their true nature is known (Race).
  • Cyber Resistant: Cyberware interferes with a Psi-Ghost’s ability to ghost. A Psi-Ghost may not take any Iconic Framework that includes cybernetics (Race)
  • Binding Word: A Psi-Ghost who takes a contract will fulfill it at all costs. Even a partial success will generally result in the refund of any fees paid for the job. This is a Major Vow (Race) Hinderance.

Edges & Abilities
  • Expanded Awareness: Psi-ghost can use detect arcana at will, as a free action (IF).
  • Arcane Background (Psionics): Choose 5 powers, 20 ISP (IF)
  • Master Psionic: All the Mega Powers associated with his selected powers (IF)
  • Major Psionic: Can spend 2 ISP to gain a +1 with any Psionic skill roll, or 4 ISP for a +2 (paid before the roll is made). These effects are doubled when on a ley line. Each time they take the Power Points Edge, they gain +10 ISP (instead of 5) (IF).
  • Mental Resistance: +4 to all checks to resist psionic effects, and +4 armor against psionic damage. This stacks with Arcane Resistance (IF).
  • Ghosting: As an action at will (no roll required), a Psi-Ghost may turn intangible, mimicking the effects of the intangibility power. This costs no ISP. Gas attacks are particularly effective against them, as the gaseous substance passes right through and into the bloodstream and does +4 damage/is -4 to resist (Race).
  • Inherently Gifted: Begin with +5 ISP, whether they pursue an Arcane Background or not (Race).
  • Psi-Blade: Activating activating Smite power creates a mental energy blade that does Strength + Spirit melee damage. The blade is AP 6 and does Mega Damage (also add bonus from smite) (Hindrances)
  • Telemachinics (Hindrances: Activating telepathy, interface with machines, vehicles, computers, and electronic devices, he can choose to gain +4 to all checks involving computers and electronics, including Investigation checks to dig through data and files. This bonus also applies to attempts to bypass security systems and electronic locks. Ace Edge when interfacing with a vehicle via telepathy which has an electronic control system, increasing to a +4 bonus
  • Brawny( F&G Table) Your bruiser is very large or perhaps just very fit. His bulk resists damage better than most and adds +1 to his Toughness. In addition, the character can carry more than most proportional to his Strength. He can carry 8 times his Strength in pounds without penalty instead of the usual 5 times his Strength.
  • Florentine Requirements: Novice, Agility d8+, Fighting d8+ A character trained to fight “Florentine” is a master at wielding two weapons at once. He adds +1 to his Fighting rolls versus an opponent with a single weapon and no shield. In addition, opponents subtract 1 from any “gang up” bonuses they would normally get against the fighter as his two flashing blades parry their blows.
  • Danger Sense Edge Your hero can sense when something bad is about to happen. When rolling for Surprise (page 108), he adds +2 to his Notice roll to act in the first round. With a raise, he starts the encounter on Hold. In other situations not covered by the Surprise rules (a sniper shot, pit trap, poisoned drink, etc.), Danger Sense gives him a Notice roll at −2 (or +2 if a Notice roll is usually allowed) to detect the hazard and take appropriate action. If this was an attack and the hero makes his Notice roll, the foe doesn’t get The Drop against him.

Background
Brody collapses on his cot in one of the tents set up for refugees around the castle. He then uses his telepathy when he is asleep to file a report to Psyscape. There is mist covered forest and a lady next to a small waterfall. She looks up with a smile and then speaks, “Well hello, should we get to your report and please be brief.”

Brody sighs and then begins, “Brody Conrey here, reporting on the mission to Tolkeen. Thanks a lot for dropping me off in that hell hole. The closing days were not fun. Not much to say beside avoiding Tolkeen death squads, and they were joined by CS death Squads and then if things weren’t bad enough. Alistair Dunscon’s “True Federation.” Death Squads decides to join in on all the fun. Have you got the common link, Death squads!

Well, I locate and gather information you requested on survivors and some artifacts. Sent it to my contact so they could extract. Used my abilities, to avoid conflicts and then at time used them to bring competing groups in to fire fights. Rescued several civilians, made sure I was mistaken for a Mage or Cyber Knight. Keeping my identity from getting out we couldn’t have that could we.

Eventually finding survivors started getting few and far between. So, I called my contact and requested extraction. It took a few days and some maneuvering but I got to the extraction point. They arrange to place me into a group of refugees heading to the Castle. And now I am here and awaiting my pick-up to head back home to home, Psyscape, for a very welcome rest.”

A female voice comes back into his head, “Brody darling, great work. We have a follow-on assignment for you.”

Brody twitches in bed, “You gotta be shitting me.”

The female smiles and batts her eyes and then continues, “No the powers that be back here signed a cooperative agreement, with the Castle and you are going to be one of the first to be selected to join this joint venture. Now Brody darling, we need you to play nice with the castle. They have the same goals in mind and have agreed that we start sharing information.

We have informed Elle of the Owls about you. Just request to see her and tell them Chrissy sent you. We inform her that you are good at interrogation, ruining people’s lives, in several ways and stealing, oh sorry, appropriating items? Or is it redistribution of wealth? I keep forgetting which one is the one you like to use. We said that you need to keep up your skills, try not to steal from them. Others, outside the Castle, well if it for the cause they might turn a blind eye. Now keep reporting to us.” The Lady blows Brody a kiss and speaks again, “Find yourself a good girlfriend, have fun and blend in.”

Brody looks down, “Crissy what is going on. I haven’t done a thing!”

The Lady smiles and stares hard, “Yes, you haven’t done a thing. This is the first call in four months! Maybe in the next four months you can find another Girlfriend!”

Things go blank for a second then Brody sits up on the cot, “Wow, I think that was a dear John Dream."

Brody gets up and heads to the Castle, he is stopped at the gate and is asked what his business at the Castle is. He replies, “I am Brody Conrey, here to meet with Elle of the Owls, I believe you are to inform her that Chrissy sent me."

Brody waits and finally an escort greets him and leads him into the castle. Going around and around, the castle seems busy people of all Races and D-Bees doing all sort of work. Finally, he is led into an Office and shortly Elle shows up. She dismisses the guards and has them closed the door.

She speaks, "Welcome Mr. Conrey to the castle, you have been assigned to us to place in a unit. I have been informed of your abilities,” she pauses, “by Chrissy.” You are an amazing young man and we will try to get you an assignment as soon as possible. Be aware that on a team you are expected to do more than just the skills Chrissy mentioned, these are teams not lone wolves. Your superiors have informed me that you will be able too. I know you are supposed to report back to them and they will relay information back to us along with our reports being passed to them. Times are changing here, I believe evil is trying to get a toe hold here. We are here to stop that from happening. And I believe you will be the beginning of a great teaming of two governments. For now, you will be given ID for the Castle.” Elle smiles and jokingly says, “You might need to get to the Inn to meet others, and to find a new girlfriend, before you depart on your next assignment. Good Luck!”

At a buzzer the door opens and Brody is escorted to get his ID and room and then released.

Originally developed by an Altess aristocrat who had been literally burned one too many times, the Eviscerator was deliberately designed as a technological equivalent to a lesser rune weapon for a fraction of the cost. As an added bonus, the AI driving the system has become expert in using its personality mapping to deliver just the right amount of flattery without being too obvious a kiss-ass about it. This powerful, two-handed weapon is a bit much for your average Altessian noble, but looks very nice mounted above a fireplace.

Designed and sold by the Northern Gun Corporation, this is a fairly common starting item for anyone roaming the wilds. It contains just about everything needed for basic survival. (30 lb, 3,000 credits)

Phoenix
Clad in fiery feathers of yellow, orange, and red, the immortal phoenix is seen as a representation of the sun god. Many cultures consider the bird sacred, but its feathers contain magical power and thus the bird is often hunted. The greatest gift a phoenix can bestow is one of its tail feathers. Although the magic in them is temporary, the phoenix forever weakens its life-force with the gift. Special Abilities:
• Flight: Phoenix have a Flying Pace of 12” and a Climb of 6”.
• Powers: A phoenix has 35 Power Points and knows the following powers: barrier, blast, bolt, burst, and light. All powers have a fire trapping.
• Rebirth: If a phoenix is killed, it explodes into flame filling a Medium Burst Template. Creatures within the Template suffer 2d10 damage and have a chance of catching fire. During the explosion, the body of the phoenix transforms into an egg. A new phoenix hatches 2d6 days later.
• Size –1: A phoenix is the same size as a large eagle.
• Tail Feathers: Every phoenix has 35 magical tail feathers, each acting as a one-shot spell. Each of the thirteen yellow feathers contain bolt (one bolt, 3d6 damage), the twelve orange feathers have burst, and the ten red feathers hold blast (3d6 damage in Medium Burst Template). The powers are cast using the phoenix’s Spellcasting—all the user need do to activate the power is throw the feather at the target (as an action). Removed tail feathers do not grow back. Furthermore, each lost feather permanently reduces the bird’s Power Points by one. When the last feather is removed, the bird explodes (as above) but is not reborn.
