Cyclones (Robotech Conversion, at Rifts Power Levels)

Post by High Command »

Shortly we'll have real stats, but here is my stab at a Savage Rifts compatible set of Cyclones.

CVR-3 Body Armor
Advanced composite hard plate armor shell incorporating a modern body glove that is capable of being a space suit.
Notes: EBA (TLPG p. 88)

H-90 Gallant Multi-Weapon System
Pistol mode: Useful right out of the holster, the H-90 is a serviceable sidearm with good fire fight endurance.
  • Range: 15/30/60
    Damage: 3d6
    ROF: 1
    AP: 2
    Shots: 830
    Min Str: d4
    Weight: 3
    Rarity: -4
    Note: Cauterize, No Recoil
H-90 Gallant - Rifle mode: Adding a rifle barrel and butt stock with built in power amplifiers, the rifle becomes a deadly main battle rifle.
  • Range: 24/48/96
    Damage: 4d6
    ROF: 3
    AP: 3
    Shots: 415
    Min Str: d6
    Wt: 8
Note: Cauterize, No Recoil, Heavy Pulse; PE-clip* is used twice as much energy in Rifle mode (*PE is for Protoculture Energy).
Veritech Ride Armor
All Cyclones can transform into a light power armor that offers extensive strength and mobility enhancements, as well as limited flight and enhanced jumping. This encompasses the following systems:
  • Cyclone Flight System (Handling +1, 100 MPH),Power Jumping (Jump +24” horizontal, +12” vertical, 170 MPH overland speed)—system will overheat after an hour, but power jumping has unlimited duration and range. Flight only applies in Battloid, but jumping applies in both Vehicle and Battloid mode. Requires a Driving Roll at -2 to stick the landing without going out of control in motorcycle mode.
  • Environmental Crew Compartment (ECC) (in Battloid Mode only)
  • Mega Damage Capacity (MDC) Armor
  • Protoculture-Powered: 1190cc, High-Output Protoculture Fired Rotary Engine. All Cyclones also have a backup power system comprised of an electric motor that is constantly charged by regenerative braking systems in the wheel hubs. The engine's battery can store enough power for two hours or general riding. Use of the backup power system n:nders the Cyclone unable to transform, makes the thrusters unavailable, and reduces speed by 25%. One Protoculture Cell will power the vehicle for one month of judicious use, including the occasional combat. Heavy combat and use of battloid mode and thrusters cuts this time in half.
  • Sensor Targeting Suite (STS) (TLPG p. 107)
  • Nimble (TLPG p. 68; in both modes). Most dedicated Cyclone Riders (use Power Armor Pilot MARS Package) increase this to Uncanny Dodge (TLPG p. 68).
  • ATV (TLPG p. 107)
  • Exposed Crew (Motorcycle mode only; TLPG p. 107)
  • Cyclone Storage Boxes: Two lightly armored. hard-sided saddlebags can be mounted to the Cyclone, as well as a top box mounted behind the rider (though this usually holds the Survival Pack for the soldier. Each saddlebag is 18 inches (0.45 m) high. 20 inches (0.53 m) wide and 18 inches (0.45 m) deep and can carry 100 pounds (45 kg). The top box is 14 inches (0.33 m) in all dimensions and can carry 50 pounds (25 kg). These boxes are watetight, lockable, and easily detachable from the Cyclone. They automatically drop off when the Cyclone transforms and must be recovered afterward or are lost.
  • Stored in Top Box: UEEF Military Survival Pack (Contains: Wealherproof sleeping bag that doubles as a temporary shelter, High Intensity Flashlight, Compass/Inertial Mapper, Mini-First Aid Kit (as per SWADE), Hunting/Fishing Kit, Saw Wires, Fire Starter Kit, Blades and tools, Signal Flares (x4), 30 ft (9 m) of nylon rope, Sanitizer and sanitary napkins, one liter (half gallon) Canteen and Food Bag containing 10 days of meal bars).
  • Transformation: No piloting roll when stationary. At Speeds under 50 mph, Roll Piloting as an Action to Transform. Roll Piloting at -2 for every 50 MPH beyond this, to the maximum speed (so 51-100mph Piloting Roll at -2, 101-150 mph, Piloting Roll at -4, etc). The Cyclone Rider Edge reduces this to an Innate Action.

VR-030 Series Cyclone
Motorcycle Mode:
Size 1 (Normal), Handling +2, 225 MPH, Toughness 18 (8), Crew 1 (may have a passenger if top box is removed, but reduces Handling by 1)
Power Armor Mode:
Size 2: (Normal), Handling +2, Pace: 14 + d8 (60 MPH), Toughness: +4, Armor: +8 MDC, Strength: d12+1
Notes: Veritech Ride Armor
Weapons: Hub Mount (Left): Small Shield (+1 to parry singly, +2 to parry when used as a pair); Hub Mount (Right): Small Shield; Faring Mount: RL-6 Light Repeating Rocket Launcher (ROF 1, Shots 6) or Other Rifle sized weapon (can only be fired in forward arc).
  • Optional: Can change out the faring to use the OSS-44 Scout/Reconnaissance Sensor Suite: This grants the Cyclone an advanced communications system, with a 20-mile range. Add +2 to Survival rolls to navigate by pinpointing location, Electronics rolls to jam transmissions, radio direction find, intercept comms, etc. Also includes a built in Grade 2 Field Computer for recording data, storing it, and other computer based uses. Doing this removes the faring mount that allows a weapon to be mounted. A common field adaptation is to mount a EP-40 Ion Pulse Pistol (20/40/80, 1–3d10, ROF 3, AP: 0, Shots: 80 per PE-Clip, Notes: Widespread) on the dominant wheel hub mount (usually right).

VR-040 Series Cyclone
Developed as a Field Support, Search and Rescue, and Special Forces unit. Expensive and Rare. Heavier than either other series of Cyclones.
Motorcycle Mode:
Size 2 (Normal), Handling +1, 160 MPH, Toughness 19 (9), Crew 1 (may have a passenger if top box is removed, but reduces Handling by 1)
Power Armor Mode:
Size 2: (Normal), Handling +1, Pace: 12 + d8 (50 MPH), Toughness: +4, Armor: +9 MDC, Strength: d12+2
Notes: Veritech Ride Armor
Weapons: Hub Mount (Left): Close Assault and Defense System; Hub Mount (Right): Close Assault and Defense System (used as a pair only, adds +2 to Parry, and each can be used as a weapon dealing Str+d8 damage and having AP 8 and deal Mega-Damage; Faring/Chest: 2x GR-I03 Mini-Missile Delivery System (can only be fired in forward arc; ROF 2, Shots 6 each)
  • Optional: Replace the Missile System with a MD-01 Field Medical Suite or MD-02 Field Mechanic Suite (which act as tools for Healing or Repair rolls and offer a +2 bonus to such rolls)
VR-050 Series Cyclone
Mass Produced Survival and Power Armor Trooper model. Slightly better armored than the VR-040 series, but not by much. Has few frills, focusing instead of carrying weapon systems into battle. The later VR-057 model increases Strength, Embedded Toughness, and Armor by 1.
Motorcycle Mode:
Size 2 (Normal), Handling +1,175 MPH, Toughness 20 (10), Crew 1
Power Armor Mode:
Size 2: (Normal), Handling +1, Pace: 12 + d8 (50 MPH), Toughness: +4, Armor: +10 MDC, Strength: d12+2
Notes: Veritech Ride Armor
Weapons: Hub Mount (Left): GR-97 Mini-Missile Delivery System (ROF 1, Shots 2); Hub Mount (Right): EP-40 Ion Pulse Pistol (20/40/80, 1–3d10, ROF 3, AP: 0, Shots: 80 per PE-Clip, Notes: Widespread) or GR-97 Mini-Missile Delivery System (ROF 1, Shots 2); Faring Mount: Any Rifle sized weapon (can only be fired in forward arc); None by default.

Cyclone Rider [Professional]
Prequisite: Novice, Drive d8+, Ace
Benefit: You may transform a cyclone as an Innate Action (see TLPG p. 68).
