Refugees:
Flailhame falters a moment, shudders, and then nods. ”Yes, we will be fine. I... I would rather not be out here if a vampire is on the loose.” Waving to the other rescuers, she yells, ”Let’s double-time it, people! We can provide medical aid back at the city. Load up as many as you can; leave whatever you don’t absolutely need to make room.” She sets to work, but the fear on her face is impossible to miss.Kuikku turns to Flailhame. ”Do any of you have a way of protecting your charges? We really do need to go face this thing in strength.”
Firebug, sensing the anxiety of her giant friends, pulls on Kuikku’s sleeve. ”I will stay with them until we return to their city,” she says. And then, smiling mischeviously, she asks, ”Do you still have any of that candy left?”
Coalition:
Kuikku examines the collapsed elf and see that rest will be sufficient for them to recover. The Psi stalker walks up and speaks to Kuikku. "There was a large coven of them. Approximatly 24."
The Specialist is angry at the Psi-Stalker. "EDWARD! THAT IS ENOUGH!"
Edward looks at the squad leader. "With all due respect, we are not going to be killing this Vampire on our own. We are on a suicide mission. We all know it. If some D-Bee's knows about what happens, and are still willing to help us, then so be it."
"If we make it through this, you will be charged with Treason!"
"As I was saying, there was 24 vampires, This is the Master. He coordinated the destruction of Little hope station in Arkansas. We where a battalion, now it's just us. The dragon in question is a soldier in the Fed Army. One that would be happy to report the destruction of a CS Squad entering the Fed Magic and starting a war."
The Psi-Stalker nods at Norona, looking from him to Kuikku. ”I’ve told you everything we know, really. If our commander will allow it, I will take point.”Finding the trail Norona continues in search of the vampire. He shrugs at Conrad's offer of a cross, trusting instead in his own holy symbols from his own gods for protection. As he moves down the trail he occasionally sends Zoffa ahead to spot any dangers. The combination of dragons and vampires doesn't really gel with him. While anything is certainly possible, there seems to be more to the story than what the Coalition is sharing. The psi-stalker seems to be more forthcoming with information. Having spent some time with the stalker tribes of the west, Norona understands something of their mentality but fighting through the CS indoctrination might prove difficult.
"Perhaps you stalker should stay with me on the point, to aid in tracking but also to keep an eye on me."
If the stalker joins him, Norona uses their position slightly ahead of the group to try and garner more information.
"I think we are on the right track, is there anything else you can tell me to help us prepare for the upcoming engagement? A surprise or missing piece of information could be the difference between success and failure."
It does not take a seer to see the simmering anger on the faces of the troops arrayed before you, or the exhaustion. These men are haggared, their armor and vehicles show the dents and scratches of hard use, and at least a couple of them sway on their feet while the Psi-Stalker and their commander engage in their very public blow up.
The specialist, a man of medium height and a weak chin, introduces himself, at last. ”I am Specialist Davidson,” he says curtly, ”and as my subordinate has told you, the coven we faced was initially dozens strong. We have killed most of the creatures, and will find this last one and kill it, too, and any who oppose us. We will accept your aid in this mission, “Tomorrow Legion,” but be under one condition: this is a Coalition operation and will be conducted under a Coalition chain of command. You are to keep yourself separate from my troops until called upon; I won’t have you starting fights in my ranks. Private Edward here,” he indicates the Psi-Stalker, ”will be your liason, since he has so eagerly volunteered. He will stay with you and report back to me if you manage something useful.”
The vampire’s trail is difficult to follow, and the party has to backtrack several times during the day as they run into terrain too rough for the vehicles or as they discover they have followed false trails. The combined skill of Norona and Private Edward is enough to get them through, however, and Norona is fairly confident that they are headed in the right direction.
After a few hours of travel, one of the Coalition soldiers whispers something to Specialist Davidson, who holds up a hand. ”All right, men,” he puts a strong emphasis on the word, ”let’s take a breather. Get some chow, water and rack time if you can before tonight.” A couple of the soldiers seem to collapse where they stand, and others set about opening MREs or relieving themselves in the brush.
He may be out of his depth, but Davidson’s idea is a good one, and you all know it. Nightfall is only hours away, and you have been at it since morning.
As you set about making camp, a jeep pulls up and two people step out, one with massive wings and an infant in one arm and another with fiery red hair and a backpack that looks far too large for her slight frame. The driver of the jeep waits for something, keeping the vehicle running.
Please go ahead and post your interludes here, keeping in mind the following:
- Include a Notice and Common Knowledge roll in your post.
- Some of you rolled previously to see what you knew about vampires, and you are free to use those rolls if you wish. If you would prefer to re-roll, go ahead and roll Survival. Conrad may make this roll at +1.
- Jareb's carrying a bag about the size of a duffle with him. Roleplay the gear that's in it and you may have it. Keep in mind this would be from the Legion's quartermaster, so make the requests reasonable.
- Once you post your interlude, add 1 xp to your character sheet and either an extra Benny or an extra adventure card.
- If you can come up with a team name and roleplay choosing it, everyone will get an extra Benny for the quarter.
- Everyone will also receive their Legion wages. In addition, Jareb is carrying 20,000 credits for mission expenses. Every penny of that must be accounted for, so it would be a good idea to assign someone responsible to be in charge of it. The Legion is taking your mission extremely seriously.
- We'll have another party member joining us soon: a Great Horned Dragon hatchling.
- The jeep is waiting to take a report back to the Legion on your progress.
