Rifts: Lost Jungles

Post by Technospawn »

Lost Jungles

The Tomorrow Legion is sending in an elite group of special operators. You are being tasked with traveling deep into Central America and recover a lost artifact. Word has come in that CS and FOM have also sent teams to find it.

Deep in the heart of the Vampire Kingdoms competing with multiple other factions, will you be able to recoveer the item and keep it out of the wrong hands...

Edited: This game is to help new players learn the system and site, so I am reserving 4 seats for new players. I am also asking veterans to help the new players where they can. This is a mentor game. Each vet that joins will recruit a new player to the game. The vet will then mentor the new player on the site and system

Total seats: 4 vets / 4 new players
Vet - @Icosa
Vet - @Ndreare
Vet - @KahlessNestor
Vet - @Pender Lumkiss
Newbie - @Lucky
Newbie - @AaronH
Newbie - @Ezy_Entry
Newbie - @Venatus Vinco

Build options: standard forum rules
F&G will get to pick any roll on the table.
HJ will roll then pick an allowed table to choose from.

Pretty much the same boat here. But I see you found one.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

@Ezy_Entry this is the game I mentioned targeting new players.

As Speed Tribes is on hold you can use that character slot until it goes active again. If it kicks up again I will pay the 3 EP for you to have a second character slot.

Is this a "new" Vela, or the same one Ashlyn knows? Because I'm making up one of Ashlyn's proteges from New Alamo :)

I think Watcher can lead the team. And if not, he will think he should be the team leader.

If you want a 14 year kid with questionable morals to lead the team sign up Trowel.

Vikon probably won't volunteer himself. He does have Charismatic though...

Does anyone have Battle? That would be my first choice, absent a cyber-knight or glitterboy. I haven't read everyone's characters.

As Speed Tribes is on hold you can use that character slot until it goes active again. If it kicks up again I will pay the 3 EP for you to have a second character slot.
Thank you heaps for giving me this opportunity.

Hi @Dalai_Chuck I wanted o chime in here. Te pbp edge is actually your first advance which is not subject to the born a hero setting rule(only applies to character creation). Also that edge requires a d8 vigor. If you really want it, I would recommend lowering str to d4, raising your vigor to a d8. Use one of your Hindrances edges to take tough as nails, then take the edge (concentration for example) at this first advance. You can always raise your str next advance.
