Into the Sunset (Savage Rifts)

Twenty years ago they stopped a madman bent on plunging the continent into war. Now, as they gather for the funeral of an old friend the heroes find that what they thought was buried in the past has come to light.

In this Savage Rifts adventure the players are a group of retired heroes who are pressed back into action as an old nemesis resurfaces.

When: January 6, 2021, 8 PM EST
Platform: Foundry
Run Time: 3-4 Hours

Character Creation
Heroes can be any Iconic Framework in Savage Rifts and are at Heroic rank. However, they also all have the Elderly Hindrance. Make 6 extra Hero's Journey rolls, two must be on Gear related tables, to reflect your amazing adventures over the years. (You can also trade 2 for 1).

Special Rule
This Reminds Me of That Time - Players may earn a benny at anytime by telling a story about the group's actions in the past relate to current events.

  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Hey gang,

Since your characters will have a long and checkered past I'd like to make the part of the game in two ways.

1) Opening scene. You'll have a chance to recall a story about your deceased former teammate, your leader Lady Nuala an Elven Cyber knight.

2) Blast from the Past. You will be confronting a "madman" from your past. I'd like to take some time during the game for each of you to contribute something to that bad guy. A story, a characteristic, a relationship to your hero, whatever. Then I'll try to work that into the story line as we go along.

I know some people like head's up about Interlude type things, so just getting this out there.
