CRUSH IT!
Know who Crusher Joe is?
Want to play a character who works/part owns a company that is paid to do dangerous (also prob stupid) stuff, all from comfy digs in Splynn, Atlantis?
Have that character concept that just doesn’t make sense in that North American campaign you’ve eye’d?
Well look no further Crusher Inc. (temp name) is looking for new owner/operators to add to the roster of specialists for it’s diverse clientele and absolutely random missions! Interview Today!
This game is open ended. There isn’t much of a hook beyond the characters run an “we do dangerous stuff for money” business. The game is based out of Atlantis but can go wherever the random serial adventures take the characters. Being based in Atlantis does not make this an evil character game.
Atlantis will be boiled down to the powerful rule. Laws protect the continuation of business and physical property. The Splugorth only care if you murder a minion and if your kill a random demon lord or dragon you stumble upon? Splyncryth gives no cares. If you’re stupid enough to get killed by a mortal with just a laser pistol, then that’s a you problem. If you’re the guy with the laser pistol watch out for retaliation.
There is a lot of business in Atlantis! Hundreds of small businesses exist beyond what is found in the Market. They business. Maybe is a small time weapons manufacturer with a large building that houses a small gun manufactory. Perhaps homegoods are your thing. Trans-Megaversal Pet Store Franchises? Splynn is a great place to build your corporate headquarters! (Brochure may or may not be a parasite entity trying to mind control you.)
Suggested Character Roles
The Face
The Engineer
The Thief
The Hulk/Tank
The Pilot
The Mage
The Psi
Money? Characters automatically start as Filthy Rich. Follow Filthy Rich guidelines at character creation.
Home? Players to discuss.
1. Perminent office wity small/quick vehicles?
2. Mothership that can set up shop where the business is?
3. Swarm Mode, Characters have individual ships that can sync up to form a larger ship/base.
4. Player Suggestions.

Re: CRUSH IT!
I’m interested (and I know Crusher Joe). Could do a blasty combat mage, though the pilot appeals a lot too. I like the idea of a carrier mothership so someone (or several people) could have fighter planes or flying submarines! Also robot vehicle ace.
Re: CRUSH IT!
I am interested and am tempted to play the Psi... a Mind Melter Psi-ghost who specializes in Mind Control though I can make him a MARS and do the Thief...

With the home base as a vehicle, we don’t have to worry about it being looted when we’re not there!
Some suitable possibilities, big enough to hold the whole party and have office space, labs, etc:
Skyborne Small TW airship, Atlantis p 63.
Trident sub Atlantis p 159 (with some or all the weapons removed, like the cruise missiles)
GUW-P002 Prowler General Utility Water Craft: Blood and Banes p. 33
The TW airship and sub jump out at me.

Awesome. I will get things going. Since the holiday is tomorrow I will try to post more details after that.

Re: CRUSH IT!
Sounds like fun. I'll take the role of "Requisitions Officer" (AKA Thief) unless there are objections? I'll start tinkering with a build over on Savaged.us and edit in a link later.
Re: CRUSH IT!
Question: For races like the Altara, would they be considered Rogue (and those considered as 'hunted' in Atlantis) or would those Hindrances be replaced with something more appropriate? Or are those races disallowed?
Still poking around in the book, don't really have a solid idea yet, this is mainly for informational purposes.

The T-23 Bottom Feeder Light Submarine, Atlantis p.61 could work too, and be crewed by just PCs. The mechanical arms option could be quite useful, and there are some mod slots.
I’ll be going with the Mage, Combat Mage, human or devilkin.

The sub could work.
Here is the original art from underseas for the Bottom feeder.
The flat side view is odd but if you really want to have fun we could steal the art for a coalition sub. It wouldn’t be the sub, it would be a Bottom feeder with a skull.

I don’t have any disallowed races an Altara may want to wear something to disguise themselves when wondering around Atlantis. Or you could change the hinderance and the character could be a “free agent.” She was aquired by a powerful person, that person could now be dead or gone, but thier status as a “free agent” doesn’t change. So likely a mark or something that can be shown if she’s ever questioned. I think the reason why she isn’t beholden to the Splugorth may end up being a big story hook for them.

Re: CRUSH IT!
A sub would work well. A couple smaller vehicles could in a cargo hold or something.
The ship could then have a regular birth some place. My thought was to use Splynn, it would make sense the Splugorth cut large canals from the coast to Splynn so the slaver ships can take slaves directly to Splynn and the market.
So a PC sub could have a berth they could regularly return too. I’ll detail some of that and post it.
Along with the sub, there would likely need to be a couple small vehicles.

Re: CRUSH IT!
Step 1. Do you want to have the characters know each other or is this right at the start if forming the business?
Perhaps some event left them each owning a portion of the boat and an unfinished mission. Like the original owner gambled the boat in different places and now all the PCs technically jointly own the ship and the Owner skipped out of town on a job they needed to finish.
Toss out a few ideas and we can see what sounds best.
2. Since it will be serial adventures, have a back story hook that could become one of those adventures is requested by you GM. No rush per say but I think each character should have an event related to their backstory pop up.
3. How hardcore do you guys want to be with money? Missions have pay days and the funds will occasionally have to be deducted for “living” expenses to represent the cost of docking, food, so on? Or is money the means to upgrades or equipment, so the actual amount is less a concern then there being a thing funds from a mission or two would pay for?

I even have an idea for the first adventure!
I have an old Aliens novel I enjoyed. It revolved around the bug queen has special royal jelly that can make the normal bugs into super bugs. So the first mission can be traveling to the Xiticix hives where a mission to sneak in and steal some sweet sweet bug juice.

I like the idea of having a regular berth, maybe with a mailbox in front for jobs to come into when we’re away.
I like the idea of already being together, maybe everyone can make up something big they did in the origin.
If the sub has some unique feature, tech or background (maybe it was a Coalition prototype and we salvaged or hijacked it!), it’s too useful not to stay together and keep using it. Perhaps it can do ley line flight to get unusual places, or to go faster on the water. Or radical stealth, like Red October getting the tram to missions no one else can. Maybe an AI who can mind the ship when the party is ashore.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:06 pm Step 1. Sounds good. Could be one reason to stay together is powerful enemies, maybe one they made on their first mission.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:06 pm

Use tracked cash for upgrades of gear, with an eye to balance. The PCs are Filthy Rich, so they might make a bunch and spend a bunch on rent, repairs, carousing, bribes… make them feel like successful high rollers with trappings.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:06 pm

Hello!
I’m interested in joining your PbP campaign and would be interested in playing the mage or engineer. I have all of the Savage RIFTS books and all of the Pallaium books too. I used to run Palladium RIFTS back in the day, and I’ve run a few games of Savage RIFTS.

I'd say it's probably best if we know one another. Perhaps we're all co-workers who worked for a now-deceased benefactor who bequeathed us his business and contacts...and probably more than a couple outstanding contracts/debts.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:06 pm Step 1. Accounting isn't generally very fun, but OTOH the wealth system leaves a bit to be desired. I'll go with whatever the group decides, with a slight preference for using the Wealth system.3. Working on an Elf MARS City Rat. I'll post a link in a bit once I finish up the mechanics.

Would me playing a Psi-Ghost overlap too much with your Requisitions Officer? He will be good at Stealth and will be able to go Intangible at will.
Also... thinking of a Nega-Psychic maybe instead of the Mild Melter... I believe it would still count as the Psychic

Which book are these from? I'm not familiar with them.
EDIT: Also, reconsidering the Elf Thief. While he's VERY good at breaking and entering, he's really not great in terms of combat and has the potential to steal too much spotlight in skill challenge scenarios (D6 for all untrained skills is...really good.) I'll kick around a few more ideas and see where I land.

The Signature Items are bought for EP, and are explained here...
(10 EP) Gain a Signature Item. This custom unique piece of gear could be an enchanted, TW, or Weird Science Super tech item that grants a benefit fitting with your character concept. This will be created using the TW creation rules or the Major Object Creation edge in discussion with your GM. For power level use a Heroic level as a guide for modifier limits and rank restrictions. Limit one per character.
As for the Vagabond stealing too much spotlight with the d6's for untrained skills, if someone has specialized in that skill they will outperform you. If not, then it isn't a priority for them and IMO it should be fine.

LMAOQuirk - Cryptic Wizard
And I'm working on a character that's better in a fight (considerably) and almost as good in terms of being a thief. Loses the Face potential all together, though.

Having width in skills in the party is never a bad thing, IMHO. Even if someone’s an d10+ expert in a skill, they can still whiff the roll (likely at the worst possible moment), while your guy has a decent chance of the D6 exploding for a raise and could take up the slack instead of having the party fail. And there are so many areas of knowledge to cover with skills, more than a party is likely to cover, ANY of which might come up at any time (or come out of a Rift).Fyndhal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 12:51 pm

I'm still bouncing around between the two character ideas. The Elf is, without a doubt, better across the board in terms of skills, but he's also going to die in one hit from any sort of heavy hitter. The Cat, is more limited in terms of skills, but is much, much tougher. I also have more of an idea of his backstory than I do with the Elf just yet...

In any case, everyone remember to add Rich as well as Filthy Rich, since the former is a prerequisite and enhances the latter.

I have been told that this is a violation of some kind of restriction on the psi-ghost. I used it on my PCs in the 12th AAT and was told by the list of GMs that they cannot go intangible and also puppet someone. I don't remember the explanation as it was in Hangouts, but it might be worth reviewing before you settle on that concept.

Intangibility includes this sentence in its description:
That includes maintaining effects on others, IMO.He is unable to affect the physical world, and it cannot affect him.

Does Al only speak Elvish, BTW? Granted, a Vagabond can get by a little in any language with their unskilled bonus and one can see an Elf not wanting to speak other tongues, but it could be tricky if only Jade can understand him. On the other hand, one can actually do people speaking different languages in a game by using spoiler blocks so only those who understand can see what's being said.
Re: CRUSH IT!
He has a language translator, but considering his background, I'd probably change it to being whatever the main language in Atlantis is.Jade Grimhilde wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 4:49 pm Does Al only speak Elvish, BTW? Re: CRUSH IT!
What IS that language? I can't find a reference to the native tongue of Atlantis and there aren't any added in the book either. Elvish/Draconic seems logical, but I'm not certain.Fyndhal wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 5:11 pmHe has a language translator, but considering his background, I'd probably change it to being whatever the main language in Atlantis is.Jade Grimhilde wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 4:49 pm Does Al only speak Elvish, BTW? According to this thread, *probably* Dragonese, but...not 100% certain.

Psi Ghost Mind Melter here. Will be the silent eyes and the stealth soldier. When and where is this game taking place?

I am already rolling up a Psi-ghost Mind Melter... one specializing in Puppet and simular Powers... and good at Stealth and IntimidationAeuoud Ulysses wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 7:23 pm Psi Ghost Mind Melter here. Psi-Ghost looks to be the Meta Choice here. Tiny Tim, Phillip Masters and Aeuoud Ulysses all going that direction, two of them as Mind Melters.

Shouldn’t he have one more Advance? 4 for MARS and two for a more experienced game per the GM?DavidSol wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 7:45 pm I have a proposal for the Pilot of the ship.

Re: CRUSH IT!
Aren't there three novice advances, at 5, 10 and 15 xp points, then 1 seasoned one at 20 Xp, and the final forum one at 25?

Re: CRUSH IT!
The book says "4. Build your character as normal, and when finished, give her four Advances. This means she begins play as a Seasoned Rank character."
And then...
So 6 total.
