1.2 The White Rabbit
The passenger cars come to safe landing thanks to the emergency failsafes. Once it sets down door locks disengage and airplane inflatable slides activate allowing people to exit.
Everyone that became a feral has stopped moving. While most are now dead from whatever the goop does to people, several are still alive but none responsive.
Gage and the large African man named Marvin check on passengers and identifying the feral that are still biologically alive.
Taxleia wipes the goop off herself and nurses a large bite wound. With the goop deactivated it isn’t harming her any further. After helping subdue a feral cyborg and being attacked by vomiting crazy people, she questions life decisions such as, Should I have eaten that left over Dino-meat. It was three days old and didn’t smell bad, but you never know what the real expectation date on Dino-meat is because that add so many preservatives. Which would explain the feeling in the pit of her stomach. Or she sallowed some of that goop. She really hopes its just bad meat.
Scarlet helps Leeza who wasn’t bitten but she still has some minor wounds from the fighting. Scarlet, Marvin, and Gage are all familiar with each other. They immediately help passengers get out of the train cars.
Carina takes a deep breath and uses magic to clean herself up. The “Hatchet” of Miraculous Industries has a rep to maintain. She watches Sir Jespin heal Secretary Hines but it does not seem to assist in returning him to consciousness. Just to the side is the man who tried to kill them, a large hole in his gut from Sir Jespin’s Psi-blade punctuating how very dead he is.
Reinforcements arrive in the form of three VTOL aircraft and two R-Bolt mecha. Two VTOL are marked as Kingsdale Rangers, while the other and Robots are unmarked. The comms traffic is directed to Scarlet and Gage.

The R-Bolt is about as tall as an Ulti-Max. The large thrusters make the fully air combat capable. They are used by the security forces for the Central Bank.

Sarah assists with the cleanup where possible, specifically the nastier parts of removing the infected since the goo doesn't seem to bother her. She also takes a small sample of the material to be later analyzed. She hovers just within earshot of the conversations taking place, gathering info as instructed.
EDIT: Hearing the call from Gage, Sarah would report as ordered as well.

A dozen Rangers emerge from the VTOL and take up a defensive perimeter.
@Sarah Winters
@Leopold
For simplicity, a VTOL picked them and the civilians up from the engine to join everyone else at the Passenger Cars.
NPC Run down
Human 1 - Dead, killed by Sir Jespin
Headless Guy - Since he aided the Secretary he is being watched.
Lt Crow and Lady Jaguar - On the run through the forest. They escaped out the elevator and she hit the ground running. The Rangers would have been tasked with tracking them.
The computer guy - Amand Martin, Security for Kerx86 - He seems relatively unscathed. He is combing over data collected from the electronic communications from the train.
Elf 7 / Sofia Klestil - She turns out to be a shapeshifter, expelling any black goop that she may have gotten in her system. The Ranger’s have nicely asked her to not run away and wait for someone to get a statement from her.

Taxliea nods back, then whispers to @Klaus von Leibnitz. “She was crying? The “Hatchet”, was crying? I shouldn’t be mean but I always assumed her stare could make Splyncryth shrivel into a fetal ball.”
Carina approaches Amand the computer guy. “You’re Kerx86 security, I assume you collected data?”
He cringes away from her, but keeps it together. “Ye-Yes. I’m sending the data back to the head office.”
She nods. “Send it to Miraculous Technology also.”
He takes a long uncomfortable pause. “I-ah. That information is now owned by Kerx86. You’ll have to contact the office.”
Carina looks at Amand with such force that not only his but a couple rangers near by find their balls climbing back inside themselves.

What is Kerx86? Kingsdale has an industrial base since they do cynernetics, bionics, juicer, and crazy upgrade. Computers and electronics would need to be manufactured or at minimum assembled locally to some extent. Kerx86 is a name for a company I assumed must already exist with the amount of enhancement technology that is peddled in Kingsdale.

When John gets the cylinder away from the headless man he considers going solid to press the button but decides against it. It's an unknown device with a purpose he wasn't aware of. Best not to risk activating it before thorough examination. Instead he opts to go check on the VIPs to make sure they're safe.
Unfortunately when he goes through the door he finds that only holds true for two of the three. He sees the assassin managed to badly injure Hines. Fortunately it looks like Sir Jaspin dispatched him before he could finish the job. Still, while the Secretary is still alive it appears the cyber-knight's efforts can't return him to consciousness. John checks the both the roof and the next car to make sure the dead assassin doesn't have any colleagues waiting for an opportune moment to finish the job.
Satisfied that the VIPs aren't in any danger, John returns to Car 4, specifically to an unoccupied stall in the bathroom to return to solidity and visibility without being observed. So far no one on the the planet knew he possessed superhuman powers and he'd like to keep it that way. The free-for-all firefight that took place in the car earlier gives him a pretty good cover story. In all the chaos he ducked into the bathroom early on and took potshots at people from the doorway till the swarm of attacking ferals made that impossible.
Emerging from the bathroom into the car proper, John takes a moment to pull the large knife the cowboy threw in his general direction from the Whykin guard's chest. It looks more advanced than your average vibro-blade, so it probably bears a closer look later. Plus he could always use another melee weapon. Hearing Gage call for all Tomorrow Legion people to rendezvous with him, he then heads to where he last saw the combat mage.

"Speaking of salvage, during all the chaos of the battle I managed to lift this from the headless cyborg, robot or whatever," John says, holding up the cylinder. "According to the Glitter Boy it might be connected to whatever went down here."PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 7:13 pm GAGE

After 'helping' the cowborg off the train -- none too gently -- Corwin strides the length of the roof of the train scanning this way and that to ensure there are no impending threats. He makes sure to radio the Kingsdale Rangers about keeping the cowborg and others in custody so nobody slips out in the shuffle. When satisfied that things are orderly, he takes a leap off the engine to land near Gage and John, two people he is not familiar with, but who seem to be handling and discussing the cylinder that was... formerly in the hands of the cowborg.
He flips up his faceplate to address them both: "And where did come across this? It was in the hands of Headless over there, just about the time I got my arms around him. To tell you the truth I lost track of it in all the chaos. This will need to be examined by someone with techno-savvy. Oh, and I'm Corwin, by the by... hired on by the Kingsdale side of the train corp as security..."
He looks from one to the other awaiting their response. He also spots Klaus and waves for him to come over.

Klaus gives his friend a quick nod in the affirmative and makes a quick pinching gesture with his fingers to indicate a little. "I vould guess it vas her first fire fight." He watches her approach the bank man with unsatisfactory results, weighs letting her cool off before approaching then decides she'll probably only get more angry with the intractable banker so he walks up. As he does he sees the glitterboy pilot try to flag him down. "One moment Sparkles, I must speak vith my employer. Be over in a moment."PaperDragon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 8:31 pm

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
Note: Gage is providing a quick recap.
“So the high points are a strange box found by John. The people seemed to be possessed by the black goop that spread quickly and that the goop responds to digital communications. (I assume some type of radio wave commonly used across north america.) During the spread of this goop all the different groups attempted to assassinate…honestly a lot of different assassinations seem to be going on.”
The red haired beauty puts a hand on her hip and nods. “A lot is an understatement. Carina, Sir Jespin, and possibly Secretary Hines. Pixie 1 is ready to return us to Kingsdale with the evidence for further investigation.”
Gage rolls his eye’s. “The Senate is already waiting, aren’t they.”
She shrugs. “i assume. Just do what I do. Bring all these other people along and spread the interrogation around.” She smiles sweetly at the group.
The large African man named Marvin, chuckles and looks at the group. “Hope you guys don’t have dinner plans. The Senate is going to be arguing for hours.” He walks up to Leopold specifically. “They’re going to have lots of questions for you. They probably already heard about the crazed passenger you obliterated, which may or may not have started the chaos.”

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
The rush of the transport to Kingsdale. A hurried landing turns into being shoved into a side parlor. Then to the Senate floor where heated arguments between senators drag on for nearly an hour. Before the senate even recognizes the groups arrival an abrupt recess is called and another shuffle to a different side room. Drinks and food are laid out, but before anyone can touch it a soldier walks in.
“Follow me.”
Any stings of being hap haphazardly drug around the senate building are smoothed over by Gage as he reassures everyone this is just normal bureaucratic chaos.
The soldier leads everyone to an office where a human in a similar uniform stands behind his desk.
“Hello, I’m Desmond Donner, General of…” a phone cuts him off. “Yes? What? He can’t do that! This isn’t a democracy,” he slams the phone. “Lieutenant take them to Anex J.” Turning to the group he straightens his jacket. “We will speak soon.”
The Lieutenant leads you through several halls until he drops you in a room that seems to be no more than a rarely used conference room. “The General will be here soon.”
Everyone notices the lack of food and drink.

After 20 minutes the door opens and an unusual man walks in.
“Hello everyone. I see you’ve been stuffed into a small room. I’m Titus Pruitt, personal assistant to his Dictatorship Issac Ixon.”
For background. The senate elected leader of Kingsdale is called the Dictator. The Senate is self appointed chosen from the business community and the most wealthy.
Issac Ixon is actually a peculiar choice. Those who pay attention to such things know the current Dictator is CEO of Kavana Foods. Kavana controls 30% of all food production and even runs several tower farms inside Kingsdale’s walls. Basically two glass buildings that look like they have parks in them but are actually 10 story tall farms.

Titus nods. “Yes, it seems to be an override.” He nods towards @Klaus von Leibnitz. “That seems a logical assumption. Viewing video supports a disruption of what ever controlled the Hover Engine cut off the coordination of the feral people. The senate will have techs try to extract it from the Engine’s computers.”
A door opens and trays of food and drinks of all variety are rolled in.
“Oh good. His Dictatorship said I should make sure you’re comfortable. Since he runs Kavana Foods, you get a full selection.”
After a moment he continues. “The Senate will likely want to keep the circle with knowledge of these events small, if any of you are offering your services to assist I know they would be appreciated. Most of your backgrounds are familiar. At least what you let people see. Otherwise i suspect the Legion would vouch for a few of you.”

Other Notes.
The man who Jespin killed is a CS operative. His affiliation is more all the data says he is then they have any clear idea of what department he’s under or probably his real name. Win Voss is all the notes in the tablet indicate.
The headless cyborg has been detained but he’s cagey. It’s only been a few hours so things are still being investigated. His cybernetics are impossible to identify as any identifying serial numbers come from all across North America and other parts are either custom made or from an unknown manufacturer.

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
Agreed. But honestly I am concerned at the shear magnitude of this effort. The goo I suspect is some sort of Nanotech. The CS has experimented extensively with that and Magic isn't supposed to be their thing. That being said it is only a matter of time before the CS sell out and try to harness magic to achieve their objectives, so who knows." Titus looks around the table. Gage, @Leopold, @John Carter, @Sarah Winters, @Klaus von Leibnitz, and @Corwin.
“Dictator Ixon appreciates your assistance in this investigation and allowing us to maintain information security by keeping the circle small. The Senate is being informed, but beyond that information concerning this event is being made top secret. We expect the nature of the attack is to play into the fears of necromantic magic. If this has a technological origin proof will need to be bullet proof to convince the citizens of Whykin magic is not the cause of this threat. To that end, I glanced at the information we have about you. What little there is. Good news, the Dictator cares only that you have no desire to see war between Whykin and Kingsdale. Since you may not all know each other. Maybe you should introduce yourselves.”
He looks to Gage.
“Right, guess that makes me first. I’m Gage Knight, director of Tomorrow Legion operations in Kingsdale.”

Winters, Legion Special Operations assigned to this case.

I'm not the most science or tech-gifted person around <snort> but apparently someone there (gestures to the East) thinks I need to be here and that's good enough for me.

I was assigned directly by (pick title) Director/General/Grand Marshal/District Assistant Manager (insert name of NPC that is important enough to produce a thoughtful chin stroke but not important enough to produce internal puckering), of course.

Corwin his throat, looks in Leupold's direction and in somewhat broken Elven says, "I share your concerns."

Note: Conversation is continuing but not walking over anyone that posts after this.
Titus nods. “The Senate appreciates your assistance and will handsomely reward you. Unfortunately the reality of this situation is sobering. Presently our standing army is less them 5000 with the Rangers around 2000. On the opposite of the boarder, Whykin has 30,000 soldiers ready to storm our walls. The military disparity is obvious. The senate has spent 5 years building resources and defenses incase this simmering conflict became a full blown war. Those preparations are not ready for this conflict.
To say your services are vital to the survival of nearly two hundred thousand people is an understatement. We need to not just show Kingsdale had no hand in this, but reveal the real culprits. To that end the Senate asks that you run down any and all leads until you can prove, with evidence, the true master mind. We can offer access to resources but for operational security we hope to keep the circle of involved individuals limited. Even the quick review of your backgrounds shows that you are highly unlikely to be double agents for Whykin or the Coalition. As of now the Dictator is debate whether to add Taxleia or Scarlet to this operation.”
He lets every soak in his speech.
“The first order of business is to give you access to any evidence we currently have and, I would suspect, a shower.”

Corwin's left hand snakes down to his right and twists nervously.
He seems to be trying to avoid looking at Sarah, but his eyes keep wandering back to her, and widening somewhat despite his attempts to be nonchalante. Perhaps he is trying too hard, as he very obviously averts his eyes and fidgits.

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
After enough time to eat Titus leads everyone through the government building. Titus nods to a secretary. She informs him the Dictator is waiting.
In the Dictator’s office Mr Ixon and Carina are having a tense discussion.
“Miss Hart, I understand your employer is a busy man, but if he is going to offer to assist during emergencies, he needs to actually show up when there is an emergency.”
Carina gives him a icy stare. “The good Doctor is a busy man and cannot be drug away from his projects for every perceived threat you feel requires his attention.”
They see the party and the conversation cuts to a close. The Dictator walks from behind his desk and shakes everyone’s hand. “Thank you all for the assistance you have provided Kingsdale. There is still a debate in the potential the frenzy plague could spread through out the city, but I’m relieved that is a debate and not a problem still needing resolved. Your being here must mean that the offer to assist us is accepted. The appriciation of the Senate cannot be overstated, but I assume the checks we will be signing will help with that.” He chuckles and turns to Carina. “Well Miss Hart. It has already been decided the senate will give a bonus to these men for the work they have already performed. Since Doctor Miraculous did not see it worth his effort for these meetings, I’m sure thr Senate will be unanimous in the decision to let Miraculous Technologies provide resources needed for this mission.” He smirks and looks to think something over. “I think 50,000 credits should be enough of a bonus for these heroes.”
Carina rubs her temples. “I’ll get it taken care of.”
Dictator Ixon chuckles. “You know what they say. The one missing always volunteers first.”
Gage leans towards John Carter and whispers. “Well that’s a good sign. Doctor Miraculous may be as eccentric as his name, but he has deep pockets. If you have seen the Miracle Printer then that will be a treat.”
OOC: The characters can converse and ask questions of Ixon, Carina, and Titus. After this meeting everyone will go to Miraculous Technologies.
The headless cyborg will be made available for interview.
The AI will be made available for evaluation. Much of the code has been captured.
Anyone who would like to perform scientific rolls on the goop let me know.
I’ll bring Taxleia back as a party NPC so you have a direct contact.

At a lull in the briefing, Corwin motions Sarah to a corner of the room. Looking around furtively, his eyes rest for a moment on the water cooler, then he forces himself to look her in the eye. Then he begins in low tones:
“Sarah. I saw you trying to protect people on the train, just as I was. You seemed to… eh, not be having too much trouble with the enraged passengers. I went back to the dining car as I thought I could do the most good there. Uh… my… ancestors, they… eh… they studied the… anthropology of ehm… many life forms throughout the… world! Well, not meaning to offend you… but… there’s a lot of… heh! Your demeanor, and your uh… body language… there’s a lot of –hehhh uh, vampire tendencies!”
Corwin glances at the nearby window. “Look, I uh… normally the daylight is ahhh… pretty good acid test so to speak. So look, I see you walking around in it… but I can’t deny what I see so plainly.” He finishes with a sigh and looks expectantly at her.

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
Sarah initially looks genuinely interested in the conversation, while @Corwin speaks. Her face brightens when she speaks, for the first word only, and then like she is doing a prepared stage reading during her reply, dropping a bit into a more matter-of-fact demeanor. Her response is at a normal, conversational level.
Really? I'm curious. What sort of tendencies do I display that remind you of a vampire? Do you spend time around them?
She pauses for a visual cue that both the question and the subtext were understood and then continues. Her tone is not confrontational but if anything, borderline playful with an edge of sarcasm. This is clearly not the first time she has had this conversation.
(snickers) You know, someone not seeking attention would just make a short answer, one way or the other.
I noticed that you didn't have much trouble with the victims either. Of course NEMA helped quite a bit with that part. You should know them since you studied all the forms of life here. Having a multi-million credit war machine to use against civilians fighting for their lives probably affords all sorts of confidence, I spose, right?
Ooof. Uh, you...
She smoothly and without need of her eyes for the action, palms a flask from her beltline and takes a swig. It is not difficult to notice the red residue on her upper lip. She swallows, rather deliberately, pausing again.
Yeah, I did save several people that otherwise would have died, perhaps at your hands had you been present. Kinda difficult to pull punches in those things, I'd imagine.
Another pause. Another visual cue sought.
Or... not?
So tell me - who is Corwin and why is he so interested in just the one member of the TL team?
Another swig.
The smile that follows seems both pleasant and genuine, though its motive unidentifiable.
(sarcastically) Nailed it!

Re: 1.2 The White Rabbit
Dictator Ixon stands, gathering the attention of everyone in the room. “Now that you understand what we are asking of you. Carina will see that you get anything you need. I expect a report of your progress soon.”
While not specifically avoiding chit chat, Carina does maintain a cool silence. Walking across the central plaza of Kingsdale she leads you to Miraculous Technologies headquarters. The tallest building in kingsdale with it’s impressive 10 floors. (Sarcasm optional)
Miraculous technologies is a bleeding edge technology company, but what that mostly means is they make stuff that very few people can afford. (Miraculous Technologies is similar to having a mad scientist in the neighborhood. Sure he makes crazy tech but it doesn’t increase the local tech base just because he is there.
Commercially MT’s primary revenue comes from two sources. The Portal Rings in the central Plaza. The Rings are large enough for a Big Bertha to fot through and act as portal stabilizers. A spellcaster has to cast the dimensional portal spell but the super-technology can keep the portal open for extremely long periods of time. One portal goes to thr Astral Domain controlled by the leaders of Kingsdale. (An actual thing in the books). While another 5 portals are used for various purposes. One seems to be a door to Lazlo at the moment.
Inside the office building the first floor opens into an atrium that rises to the top floor and a thick glass that lets in natural light. In the center of thr atrium is a 10 foot by 10 foot cube. This is MT’s primary income. The manufactory. The black-cube is a 3D printing device that has nearly unlimited potential. MT runs 5 of these, and provides an invaluable manufacturing service in Kingsdale.
Taxleia greets everyone as Carina leads you through the Atrium. “I know some of you are familiar with Miraculous Tech but everyone always wants to see the cube.”
Taxleia chuckles. “He sparkles.” She steals Klaus’ nickname for @Corwin. “Let me see that mace.”
She tosses it at the cube and it slides in as if the cube is a thick liquid. After a moment the entire cube begins to sink into the ground. Leaving only the mace. Taxliea picks it up and hands it back. “Here you go sport. Better than new.”
The mace now has one enhanced feature!

Carina “I’m sure your excited to get started. The black goop is being studied on the 7th floor, the cyborg who wore the cowboy hat is also there, his systems where modofied by the goop. The headless man, who we also know is a cyborg is on the 3rd floor for interviews.”
The cowborg vibro-knife has one enhancement from below. Player choice.
He also has a Kisentite knife. The metal is mega-damage and the edge is so sharp it cuts mega-damage.
4 other knives are vibro-blades with +1 Fighting from perfect balance.
Choose your investigation! Or look into sanything else you want.

“Really? I'm curious. What sort of tendencies do I display that remind you of a vampire? Do you spend time around them?”
Corwin gradually leans back against the wall, nearly cowpoke like. He slightly opens his mouth to speak—

His arms fold together in front of him.
“Or… not?
So tell me - who is Corwin and why is he so interested in just the one member of the TL team?”
His voice is still low, but gone is the boyish hesitation, “It’s all in your swagger, you see. You’d be surprised how delicate those G-10 hands can be. The suit came to me on the passing of it’s owner, Lucius Tristan, an old soul who showed me that you can’t always judge a bl—“
Eyes rising wistfully to the ceiling…
“—He showed me that there are worse things in the universe than… vampires; more than are dreamt of in… my philosophy.” His eyes settle back down to rest looking directly into her face.
Corwin sweeps his right hand, rolling it palm up as his voice rises to the normally audible level. The overly detailed human heart inked onto the inside of his wrist is impossible not to notice; crimson dripping from the heart and the stake driven through it.
“That’s the problem with an endless crusade you see… when does it all end?”
After a few moments watching for Sarah’s reaction, Corwin turns as if to return to the others.
Corwin gradually leans back against the wall, nearly cowpoke like. He slightly opens his mouth to speak—

"Yeah, I did save several people that otherwise would have died, perhaps at your hands had you been present. Kinda difficult to pull punches in those things, I'd imagine.”

You called me here, so I'm here. I hope you're at least going to tell me whose crusade you are referring to. Yours? Mine? Theirs? (gesturing out to the room)
Everyone has one. I'm guessing there would be fewer crusades if people took the time to understand the motivations behind them.

"Hmph. I guess that tat's not a dead giveaway. Well, I guess you showed me yours..." Lowering his voice again:
"I mean the crusade my ancestors started on after they broke the world. They were here, you see, long before the ancestors of humans. They lost their home, and they've been wandering ever since. In all that time, centuries upon centuries of wandering they had some...er... run ins with the undead, demons, what have you. Some took this poorly, in fact long ago, they all took it poorly. As a result, we all get these tattoos before our age of majority. With the tats comes a lot of schooling, about the ancient enemies of the...endless crusade. We have folks whose entire job is just to... slay? Yes. They pursue that tirelessly, and obsessively. I'm not one of those, but I spent decades learning how to spot...well, folks who move with your sort of swagger. I can't unsee it, but as I said, my mentor, a very short lived person really, had a very...even perspective on the world. You seem to have yourself under control." Corwin's eyes shift to the flask.
"The word endless always bothered me, it implies an overwhelming burden really. Not one I enjoy carrying."

Sarah smiles, almost chuckling.
Everyone is under control. What matters is whose control and also whether it is their own or another's. And some who are under their own control are to be trusted less than others' automatons.
Those beings who slay - some do it because they have to. It is the ones who want to, who choose to when they could choose otherwise -- when it changes from necessity to desire...those are the ones from whom crusades are born, if the meaning of crusade is as I learned it long ago.
One person's hero is another's murderer.
Still others slay because they are called to by either the former or the latter of the other two.
Knowing where that line is for oneself- It is how one is judged and ultimately, either culled or spared.

Taxleia grabs an apple from a food table and takes a bite. The red surface shines brightly from the sunlight coming through the tall atrium. From some where in the group a growl errupts.
Gage coughs. “Sorry. I guess I’m still hungry.” Long awkward pause ensues. “Maybe we should get to work…”
Taxleia chuckles. “Lets go check on the geeks.”
Taking the elevator Tax has to enter several codes just to get the door to open after stopping. “Tell anyone about the stuff on this floor and Carina will hire Klaus to destroy you.” She smirks at Klaus. “Digitally of course. Remember that guy in Merc-Town?”
In the lab there are several work stations. One is using a computer microscope on the nanites. Another station has goop in something like a microwave, bombarding it with different types of energy and radiation. Another table seems to be feeding a sample different types of substances. The last table has the several rodents walking on two legs while someone controls them in a computer.
Investigate away!

“We definitely need to find out what he knows, but expect it to be limited. Whoever perpetrated this would have brokered everything separately using 3rd parties, in order to compartmentalize information to avoid it leading back to them. We need to analyze the targets, and potential motives for the attack. It seems obvious and very well may be, however it could also be part of a bigger picture, and hopefully knowing what we can learn from the actors, combined with what analysts can discern will lead us to the head of this snake so that we may cut it off. John is hoping for the latter. One of his standing orders from his superiors in the FDF after they became aware of his situation is to gather and relay whatever data he could on any advanced technology he encounters. The proprietary tech of Doctor Miraculous certainly qualifies.
When they get to Miraculous Tech HQ John watches with rapt interest, recording everything with his helmet's sensors, as his colleagues deposit gear into the ebony cube for modification. When it's his turn he chooses to get a stealth capability upgrade for his armor like Corwin's. One can never be too sneaky, after all. Plus it would give him the opportunity for his suit to record the 3D printer's operations from the inside. Could be useful data that could help Freedom Station figure out how to create one themselves.

The black cube is a mix id a thousand chemicals and element held in place by quantum electric fields that rearrange the molecules and contents of the cube and scratch build anything the user wants. It’s cool but not less expensive than other manufacturing options. It’s just completely versatility.
The scientists at the table working with rats would likely have the answers. They inform the signal is rather simple and by hitting the swarm at once it becomes a massive processor. Of the crew Rubin Weaver was a train attendant and he succumb to the goop. Along with one other person. I think an engineer. Leeza and the pilots survived.
The train was owned by a Kingsdale businessman who is also on the senate. Like the dozen other members he is one of the wealthiest in Kingsdale. He may not have known the names of his employees but he probably knows Corwin’s name now.
Corwin wouldn’t have any special insights to the goop from his background but! He would know people who work the train, loading docks, and ticket stations. These are all people he would have easily met as a guard on the train.

The hacking would also produce valuable data such as location data. Since the borg was taken over quickly much of the secure data wasn’t wiped because the borg parts think Rip is still alive. Tacking data shows he visited the NG facilities in Kingsdale and Whykin (Not a lot of detail about Whykin but NG run shop makes sense. With Leopold’s family being wealthy, they would likely have contacts among the Kingsdale Senate, and other merchants. I don’t have any specific suggestions or inspiration to work from but his family is a ripe place for contacts the others don’t have.

Aspects Update
Nano-Goop: A technological substance that seems to be reverse engineered from the nano-machines that created the Prometheus Treatment from the Juicer Uprising. The aliens who made them ran Newtown but were believed to be eradicated by the Coalition. The coalition leveled Newtown and built Fort Jericho.
Sir Jaspin: Still kicking and likely itching to learn who was behind the events.
Agent 009: The headless Cyborg. He will provide that name. He sits in a interview room in the third floor of Miraculous Tech’s headquarters.
Alien Tech: The technological sophistication needed to reverse engineer the nanos and not have them convert to slag as a self defense is rare. The Coalition, Triax, and possibly Northern Gun would have the minimum tech level to make the nano-goop. Northern Gun is very low on the list and really more honorable mention. Triax is also an honorable mention, they don’t have facilities in north America. (You think!)
The Train: A viable investigation route as getting the nano-goop on the train had to happen somehow.

Corwin and Gage definitely meet up at a bar when time permits. He suggests some respectful contributions to ensure families don't go without. He feels he should attend the memorial services for Rubin and the others as a co-worker. Plus he owes Leeza a drink.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:37 pm Gage Chuckles. “Nothing some good drinks can’t solve. Corwin follows up with the owner to ensure that the death benefits are forthcoming in a timely fashion. This may also help in his earlier quest to gather video and financial records about passengers and perpetrators. He will be listening carefully for any information the owner has that others might not already know during this conversation.PaperDragon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:37 pm The train was owned by a Kingsdale businessman who is also on the senate. Sarah makes her way over to the rat observation and testing, making small talk with the scientists trying to control the rats.
When I was younger I saw a rat being tested in a maze. It was equipped with a lever that would dispense food whenever it was pressed, so the rat figured out it would be able to eat when it was hungry. Then the scientists took the lever's effect away and the rat eventually figured out that it wouldn't work at all and so eventually found the other source of food in the maze. Then the scientists made it so the lever would dispense food randomly, irrespective of the number of times it was pressed. The effect was the rat pressed the lever almost incessantly, even foregoing some other activities, whether or not it already had food. With this stuff in a living system that is the impulse I saw.
Sarah makes every attempt to remain surreptitious in her efforts both detecting and exerting the slightest bit of control on the rats when they are otherwise unoccupied. She makes excuses of naming them, having conversations with them, asking the scientists their temperaments, etc.

A message beeps on Corwin’s communicator. A message from his employer’s head office comes in. A fellow security guard has sent the videos that he asked for. Video that shows activity in the train. As people get onto the train. And in/immediate vicinity of the station in Whykin and Kingsdale.
With the videos Corwin can pin point the first person to show signs of infection (and then blown up by Leopold.) This man was not a regular and honestly look out if it as he boarded the train. Think drunk without the smile. Triuble walking. He doesn’t look “sick” though.
If you have some specific things to search for let me know. Otherwise a general research or notice roll and I will toss some clues out.

Two men in their early 20s try to act cool.
Greg nods along. “I see what your saying. I saw some video and they where hyper motivated. What’s weird is the nano-goop itself isn’t the motivator. The machines take over the nervous system and manipulates the signals. It can make new signals.”
He types in some commands and the rat stands and does the floss dance.
“But is seems to also change the signals. It’s manipulating the nervous system on the electro-chemical level.”
The other scientist, Blake, does a little floss dance revealing himself as the one who wrote the command code the rat was following. When Sarah looks, he coughs and tries to play it off like he was doing something else. “Cough. Yes well. Yeah. That electro-chemical stuff is kind of scary. If the programming controlling the nano-goop was sophisticated enough, I bet it could act completely human. Take over and leave the persons mind stuck in the passenger seat. Those people on the train though had their animal nature cranked to 11, so whatever was controlling them must not have been able to control them at that level. Or at least not that many at one.”
Greg releases the rat from its dance. “Since it’s electro-chemical, I think a telepath could fight the control. Like mind control vs mind control.”

Research is not his thing, no a specific question and a general attempt at will suffice. When John has the chance to privately review the data his suit recorded he thinks he's hit the jackpot. researchers attempting to to figure out how to reproduce the technology. Which would be a big help if they ever mange to reverse engineer the Arkhon's gravity control technology. Once they understand the tech, they could easily use printers to begin mass production much more quickly than if they had to convert conventional manufacturing facilities to do so. Not to mention the fact cube printers would be very useful in efforts to establish colonies in the Outer Solar System and beyond which are likely to happen once the war against the Arkhons is over.
