Cold Iron Compass
There is not a number of demons that can be slain that can satisfy Caiden. He obtained this compass through one of his sect's allies. Every inch of it is etched with arcane symbols and enchanted against demons. This cold iron compass unerringly points the way to the nearest demon at all times.
The Cold Iron Compass always tracks the nearest demon. The ambient magical energies of Rifts Earth cause the needle to undulate, requiring a roll Occult or Arcane skill to correctly interpret the true direction to the demon. Attempting to use the compass to triangulate the distance to the demon requires a Survival roll. The difficulty increases by +1/power of ten in miles (so 1000 miles away from the nearest demon, it'd be a difficulty 7 roll). The roll is opposed by arcane skill if a demon has/is using Conceal Arcana.
The compass is shrouded from their senses of demons, subtracting -2 from Notice rolls and detect arcana attempts. It seems to seek vengeance upon demons itself, granting the bearer the effects of the Champion and Iron Jaw Edges in combat when confronting demons.
(Base item: An otherwise normal compass made from cold iron.)
Minor: -2 to be Noticed by demonkind
Minor: -2 to be detected by demonkind
Major: Edge - Champion, but only against demonkind
Major: Edge - Iron Jaw, but only protects against demonkind
Trapping: This compass' needle always points towards the nearest demon.

As I suggested in Discord, I'd urge a roll for the Demon-Detection ability. Occult or Navigation would be satisfactory. Using it to triangulate to calculate distance would be Survival only.
Difficulty for detection would be 4, +1/power of ten in miles (so 1000 miles away from the nearest demon, it'd be a difficulty 7 roll). Roll is opposed by arcane skill if a demon has/is using Conceal Arcana.
Also, a point of clarification--"demon" can be a vague term. Is this strictly vs. denizens of Hades? Or would it apply to, say, Daemonix and Dyvallians, as well?
Address these, and I vote approved.

I'm fine with the occult and survival rolls. I don't know about the demons though. Like literally, I just don't know, not that I object to being more specific. Whatever is most common in North America, I guess?

Attuned to geographic area. Currently N. America. Demon doesn’t include such things as Brodkil (they are sub demons). Additionally, Devils are not Demons. If taken to new area (GM discretion) such as, example Germany or S. America, it takes the compass 1d4 days to attune to new location.

I updated the compass with Freemage's suggestion. I am still ambivalent and genuinely do not know how to answer the Demon question. Whatever qualifies as a Demon is probably good enough for me? Lol
